Game thread

Here's what I don't understand.

We have a stud running back. Ran for 150+ yards against a good defense. He has five carries in the first half.

We score on our first drive - obviously, the game plan wasn't terrible. But then we stop doing any of those plays.

Why the heck do I even bother with this team?!?

Why don't we pound the football. This drives me crazy.

Minnesota's defense is beat up - I have no idea.

Blough is also throwing it to Minnesota 1/3 of the time.

Our special teams are a disaster though. We basically have to score a TD to score. And that punt was a disaster. Thankfully Minnesota's offense is as big of a disaster.

I was stunned that Jones was not out there to start the game. He is the real deal, we are playing a beat up defense, and we don't use him.

That's what a week of Shoop will do to you - just think how he'll look by the IU game!

We are lucky that Minnesota's offense is equally incompetent. Giving up 10 points to Minnesota in one half is like giving up 30+ points to an average offense.

Dear God Hazell is a complete effing moron. You have 2 timeouts and a 3rd and 3 out near midfield with the cloc ticking under 40 seconds and you just let it go. Unreal

Blough Stats at the half:
9-19 for 85 yds and INT

How anyone can not see the negative effect that John Shoop has when he "coaches" our qbs is beyond me.
And yes it's on Hazell too - but who the hello will come here now as OC with Coach Nike Vest having one foot out the door?
What a mess...

The band is playing the Pink Panther theme song. Really?
Maybe they can learn the I Love Lucy theme song for next week.

Because we are getting handled on the line of scrimmage.
Not when we continue to run consistently. If we can't establish the run against a depleted Gopher squad then we're done. That's my measuring stick for this season, team and especially this staff. "Great line and 2 special young backs". I'm just an old high school coach but the game hasn't changed.

That's the difference between a WINNER and a Hazell! No killer instinct, The guy is too retarded to make a cost benefit analysis on the sideline! It's not something he can look up in his big 3 ring binder Jim Tressel gave him.

Blough will continue to get worse and lose confidence under Shoops. The only question is the rate of regression. Sindelair needs to run for the hills.

By the way, while I love efficiency, Mitch's value branding is dumb. It may work with parents, but kids actually decide where they are going to college. The value work is terrific, but it does not sell the school except with state senators voting on budget allocation matters.

Our line sucks. Backs are OK, not "special".

On the second point - spot on.
We are legacy Purdue - parents worked there and we kids all attended. My junior in high school has been Purdue indoctrinated for years and follows them closely - but really has no interest in the school. Their current emphasis turns him off.
And yes he's a very good student.

Hazell is in too deep with his coordinators. If he didn't think they were the ones for the job, he's had 2 offseasons to change that. He has not.

This is on Hazell not his coordinators.

Leroy Clark should lose his scholarship for that play. Got bitch-slapped out of the way and then got back up to ride the guy into the endzone 4o yards down the field.

Otherwise, about what I expected out of the locker room. Great 2nd half start.

Tackle, damn it!

Announcers saying Purdue's worn out.

While that may be a bit dramatic, I've said again and again - Purdue's lack of depth is its biggest issue. This is where the subpar recruiting matters. We're "worn out" against Minnesota 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter.
