I'm here to call out people who are A$$holes to people that come here to post their opinions, as well as post my own opinions and thoughts on Purdue basketball. I have no respect for those who choose to come to forums and act their opinion is the only opinion and attack those who don't comply.
If the only thing we ever agree upon is eff IU then so be it.
Again, who I am calling out are those that preach on here after a loss and do exactly what you are posting about here. I give them a dose of their own medicine and again I fully expect you to call them out now too or you are just being a hypocrite.
Have your opinion. Don't be so offended when your opinion is challenged on its merit though.

This is exactly how I would want it to be. I won't be offended if my opinion is challenged. The way some people challenge other here's is with personal attacks and name calling. This, in my opinion, is BS cowardly way to go about it. Anyone can talk sh*t on a message board. Be better than that. We're Boilermakers.

The poster I was responding to was complaining about all of the bickering back and forth and I agree with that. Has nothing to do with being "on a side". It's really pretty simple, I think it detracts from the board and makes it less enjoyable. I stated that opinion. So explain to me what "you people" I'm part of??
I just wish those who truly believe Painter is not the right coach for Purdue and think he should be gone would step up and say so. They would probably catch hell for it, maybe that's part of why they don't.............but I, for one, would respect that opinion if it was presented in a rational manner with a few facts sprinkled in. I don't agree with that position at all but would much prefer it to all the continuous regurgitation of the same arguments, the relentless sniping and snarky comments that get posted, especially when we lose.....or when a team that beats us loses a game they shouldn't, or a player like Mason has a bad game.......on and on.
Imo these posters either truly don't believe he should be fired and just love to complain and start crap..........or they are afraid they might be wrong should Painter meet their own expectations of FFs or whatever they happen to be that day. It's easy to sit back and take pot shots but much tougher to actually step up and take a position.
Some on here have taken positions.........I know a couple have said another first round loss should put him on the hot seat but Painter has their support for now......... And they leave it at that. That's totally fair. They leave that position at the door when talking about the next game or recruits.....whatever. They don't rehash it in every thread.
If you don't want Matt to coach this team just say so. You never know, you may be smarter than the rest of us. I will gladly give you props later if you are.
That exact thing has been done by several posters on here. Some have given very specific goals that have not been reached and others have said we can simply do better. In either case they will quickly be told they are idiots, don't know anything about b-ball or to go do something to themselves that I'm not sure is physically possible. Of course once that happens they come back at the defenders and usually in not a very constructive way annnnnd down into the gutter goes another thread.
That's why I said this thread is good. Keep all that bickering back and forth here and it makes the rest of the board better. It was my opinion and I stand by it, period. To me it isn't about "taking sides". There is crap from both sides of that argument and I said that.
Just for the record: I consider myself a non-extremist. I generally like CMP and I support him as our coach. I have never called for his dismissal. I don't, however, agree with everything he does or teaches just because he's our coach. I also support people that have differing views from mine and actually like having discussions and disagreements over those topics. It's what makes a message board. Hell if we all sang the coaches and teams praises and nothing else you would only need one thread. I just think there are more constructive ways to do it than calling people names and acting like we're on an elementary school playground and that applies to both sides of the CMP argument.

I'm a Purdue fan, so right now I support the coach. If he were 0-5 in conf instead of 3-2 with the talent we have, I would say differently. I criticize the coach more than the players because he's well compensated and he's the captain of the ship. We are 12 yrs into this regime, we better be competing for the BIG regular season/conf tourney titles. We better make the NCAA tourney, and since we've not advanced past the Elite 8 in 30 yrs, I set that as a goal although of course I'd like to win a Natl Championship. At the end of the year is when I make the call on my coach. We shouldn't repeat the same mistakes, be beaten by the same type of player, have teams beat us with the same designed play, and for gods sake look totally discombobulated at crunch time like we do 12yrs into a coach's tenure. I mean was that even a play we ran with our last possession? It looked like a complete clusterf*€¥. Is that what coach drew up on the dry erase board he was clutching?
Based on the continued gas out of the fingers (mouth) of the OP, this thread should be about Hamm's beer and Black Label (for those who remember the quart cans of god awful spit). two of the most horrible beers I have ever experienced. Wisconsin Club receives an honorable mention and I have always enjoyed cheap beer.
Wisconsin Club and Alps were the worst beers I ever. Couldn't finish the bottle of either one. In my not-so-proud opinion, both rate below Hamm's and BL.
