Drew Brees is the greatest of all time

For 3 years and won nothing with him.

Brees has Michael Thomas. Is he hiding behind his teammates?

Brees made Michael Thomas. And Thomas has played twice this year. Despite his game-one drops and using fourth-string backups at wideout, Brees still leads the NFL in completion percentage. Again.

Brady leads only in hype, yours included.

MVP??? MVP is the absolute dumbest claim to fame in the history of any game. It doesn’t mean crap. Subjective popularity contests. Opinions. Votes.

Drew’s numbers are reality -- all-time NFL records -- and he takes a backseat to absolutely no one. Accomplishments on the 100-yard field, not in the auxiliary press boxes and wide-load armchairs.

5,000-yard seasons. Brees has five. The rest of NFL history has produced just seven other such seasons with nobody else doing it more than once. That’s reality.

It’s Brees, Brees, Brees, Brees and Brees … then everyone else … once.

Most Voted Player? Hell no. Best ever. In fact and forever in the books.

Lol. Stats and records are simply numbers and they will absolutely be broken, likely by players currently in the NFL. It’s the evolution of the game. Drew’s numbers are a by-product of the system in which he plays and career longevity that he has enjoyed. Matthew Stanfford at his current pace will break all of Brees records and I know there’s no chance in hell you’d argue Matthew Stafford is a better QB than Brees.

5 MVP’s is 5 MVP’s. Nobody has come close to touching that and nobody will. There isn’t a single person (outside Purdue fans) who would dare make the case Brees is the best QB of all-time. He’s not even the best QB of his generation.

Drew Brees is an undoubted first ballot hall of famer, but he’s nowhere near in the discussion of greatest of all-time. It’s Brady, Montana, and Manning and I’d honestly entertain any of the 3, but Brees is not there.

Hard to miss a pass when you have the fewest attempts beyond 20 yards the last 3 years.

If Brees truly made Thomas, the saints wouldnt have paid him the way they did.

Against Brady, Brees was 7-for-8 with a passer rating of 158 on throws over 20 yards, according to NBC in-game.

And who was Michael Thomas before he played with Drew Brees? Nobody.

Drew apparently needs bring along a buddy like Antonio Brown to be considered the greatest by you.

Again, show any number where Brady is better that doesn't depend on his whole team. You can't.

That's stupid.

1) How about the other 48 games over the past 3 years?
2) Saints drafted Michael Thomas, so, yeah not sure where you are going with that one.
3) I said multiple times, Brees is the greatest passer. Are you this dense?

If stats meant everything, why doesn’t Brees have a single MVP? Because at the end of the day, they’re simply numbers. It’s the system in which Brees plays in. It doesn’t quantify anything. If Manning played as long as Brees and threw as many passes as Brees, we aren’t having this conversation.

They wont? The goal is to win the superbowl, right?

Also, for a system QB, Brady has done well so far under Arians (who runs a completely different system).
no, they won't. That's why I wrote it.

Of course "(t)he goal is to win a superbowl (sic), right". Our discussion can't be so vacuous as to start with the ridiculous assumption that every QB on every team does it alone, without the the rest of the team, and without the skill, knowledge and preparation of the coaching staff.

These ridiculous comparisons seem to always devolve into the absurd.

Again, MVP is the product of media votes. Opinion numbers. Subjective. An honor contrived by a limited few.

As for actual performance, the all-time record for completion percentage has nothing to do with longevity or attempts. And Brees broke the NFL career records for completion percentage, completions, touchdowns and yards long before breaking the record for attempts.

Brees has completed 67.8 percent of his passes in his career. Manning completed 65.3, including the 11-yard lateral he was credited with to break Brees' single-season yardage record by 1.

Brees tops all by any measurement outside of full-team accomplishments like rings and limited opinions like MVP, which doesn't mean a damned thing in reality.

His name is in the NFL record books atop the all-time categories. Off-field opinions are not. Simply.

1.) Michael Thomas broke in catching passes from the all-time most accurate passer in NFL history.
2.) Everything he's done as a pro has been from Drew's hand.
3.) Dense would be you, as you can only point to teammates' accomplishments rather than head-to-head work.

Again, what has Brady done that his teammates haven't done for him?

And where would Brady be if he'd played in Brees' shoes? He would've retired in 2005 in San Diego with a bum shoulder. Too bad Brees didn't have Matt Light then, saving his ass for a decade in the league.

Brees even has a cuter wife. A Boiler, too.

Wait what?

Marino was a once in a generation talent. You old enough to remember Marino? He played on some terrible, terrible teams. But from a pure talent standpoint there aren't much, if any, better than Marino.
Its hard to compare players nowadays to guys who played prior to the 1980s,because now QBS have to throw a lot more than they used to and the game is played so much faster. That being said these guys now are so much more stronger and durable than they used to be that it isnt funny. Johnny Unitas,Bart Starr,Sonny Jurgenson,Fran Tarkenton ,Ken Stabler and others werent too effective after their mid thirties. Now Brees,Brady,Rodgers are playing well into their late thirties or early forties.

1) Head to head record? Largely irrelevant. Brian Griese is 2-0 against Brady. Is he better?
2) Re: stats. For the 4th time, im not arguing that brees isnt the greatest passer. As i said, dense.
3) Lol at the wife shot. Youve gone completely off the rails. kudos.

all true.

The rules have changed, as well, helping players have a longer career and a life after their playing days that (hopefully) is not debilitating . QBs are much more protected these days, as it should be. Same with WRs. There's no reason we should be playing a game (even a game as violent as football) and leaving players open to permanent, life-changing paralysis. I played the game and loved the contact; loved to hit. Still, it's just a game.

1.) Any SOB is better. Son of a Boiler. Bob Griese was better, too. He had the last perfect season.
2.) If we take away passing, Brees is a better runner, better jumper, better athlete, better in tennis, better in golf. Lesser only in pub.
3.) Best shot on Sunday night was Brady's daughter sucking her thumb while daddy just sucked.

Marino played up till the turn of the century and to this day not only has the strongest arm I’ve ever seen, but quickest release. He’s the best pure passer of all time in my opinion. Was never fond of his arrogance and always got a chuckle when his teams choked, but simply put, put a guy with Marino’s talent in today’s game and I don’t think there’s an argument to be made.

I've got a Marino jersey, from seeing him in a playoff game at Joe Robbie. It's in the bottom of a box.
The Drew Brees jersey hangs above all.

What so proudly we hailed ...

You don’t .. Brees top ten not the greatest

These QBS hardly get touched anymore. Back in the 60s and 70s these guys took some poundings. With the money they make now, I would like to see them get hit a few times a game. Treat them like the other players on the field.

I just can’t stand it when a QB runs the ball and slides he can’t be hit past the line of scrimmage. Protect them somewhat behind the line, but when they run it hit them.

You are correct. The QBS are much more protected than they used to be.Thats probably ,along with better conditioning and training is why they play so much longer.

Who were Brady's elite receivers on his superbowl winning teams? Ill wait.

If you want to bemoan the team for brees, ill listen, but diminishing what brady is capable of as a passer is lazy.

I love when people say "Brady benefited from the system".
Well.....No $hit. Every QB has the system built around them. Including Brees. He benefited from Joe Tiller's system more than any player in history.
As was said, the ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl and Brady has done that better than anyone else.
