Does CMP......

Was it worth it for Washington to pay a player $2M when they aren’t goin to make their conference tourney?

Was it worth Kstate to pay Coleman Hawkins $2M to be on the bubble of getting to the NCAAT?

Was it worth it for Rutgers to pay 2 top 3 lotto picks all that money to not make the NCAAT?

If IU paid $6M for their team and they dont make the NCAAT is it worth it?
Sexy pickups vs winning pickups. I'm a broken record but I trust MP to make winning pickups.

Of those 3, Fletch is the most replaceable. Fletch is best as a spot up shooter, but you only have 1 guy trying to create and get him open for looks. What we need are guys who can handle the ball, dribble drive and get the other team into rotations.
Agree on ranking, I said the same. It's not accurate, IMO, that Braden is the only guy creating open looks. Trey certainly is as well, but when you have two other guys out there that no one is afraid of, the defense can focus on keeping Fletch from getting open looks.

Smith -$3-$5M
TKR - $1.5-$2M

But would TKR thrive in a diff system? How would smith do?

I know very little about what these kids are making in NIL.

How educated is your opinion, not trying to come off as an asshole, exact opposite. I am not knowledgeable, so I am wondering if this is something you are involved in or just follow closely.

Honestly those are eye opening amounts. Do they get NIL now?

Just estimates and judging off of what players got paid this year (that are nowhere near as good).

Can’t confirm this but heard rumors:

I believe smith is getting in the range of $1M to just below $2M

And TKR just below $1M

I don't know, that's why I asked the question? Can you put a value on how much you should spend to build a NC contender?
If Braden costs $3M next year and we don't make a FF, was he worth it?

Many of our second and third tier players just have not panned out as hoped or planned. I don't think CMP could argue if pressed.

That's ok, I think this happens all over the NCAA...so yeah, I think the portal is a good option to look into for next year instead of just hoping we get some significant turnaround from role players during Braden and TKRs last year.
I think a lot of their lack of development of are bench players is the offense Painter runs. Have been spoiled by having Edey and Renn by using the pick and roll, but everyone else just stands at the arc and watches. You hardly ever see someone back pick and go to the basket. Loyer comes off picks once in a while but it’s always going away from the basket. I think they need to be more involved. I have seen times where they break a press, and could take it to the basket, but they wait for Smith to come down the floor so they can set up the pick and roll. The way Heide and Colvin can jump, they need to attack the basket. Also Painter needs to recruit some forwards instead of so many guards. The teams in the Big Ten are starting to go big and they can’t rebound with three guards.

I'm really torn about Fletch, at the start of the year he started strong but it's back to the same being a Dow Jones type player and being a defensive liability. I do think he' s hampered a bit by the O. I always thought he'd be like a Goode type player. Last week I watched the iu - UCLA game, Goode shot like 1 - 7 in 1st half but started the 2nd half w/ like 6 makes in a row.
I love him, and hope he’s here next year… but it’s like in the NFL, when you have to pay your QB and your left tackle, may not be able to re-sign your RB or your MLB…
