After each Purdue football game, we'll take a closer look back at it through Pro Football Focus data and analytics.

Today, the Boilermakers' 48-45 overtime win over Tennessee in the Music City Bowl.

Let's get crazy ....

PURDUE OFFENSE
Snap Counts
Quarterback
Aidan O'Connell all 88

Offensive Line
Gus Hartwig (C) all 88
Tyler Witt (RG) all 88
Eric Miller (RT) all 88
Cam Craig (LT) 80
Spencer Holstege (LG) 78
Mahamane Moussa (LT) 11 (true freshman — played three snaps during the Big Ten season)
Marcus Mbow (LG) 10 (true freshman — played four snaps during the Big Ten season)

Wide Receiver (here's where we get silly)
Jackson Anthrop 72
Broc Thompson 65
Collin Sullivan 57 (played 27 snaps all season prior to the bowl, 19 of them at UCONN)
TJ Sheffield 43
Andrew Sowinski 10 (played 23 snaps all season prior to the bowl, 20 of them at UCONN)
Deion Burks 9 (true freshman — played eight snaps at UCONN and never again)
Preston Terrell 1 (true freshman — first snap of the season)

Running Back
Zander Horvath 53
King Doerue 25
Dylan Downing 8

Tight End
Payne Durham 50
Garrett Miller 47

GRADES AND SUCH
Purdue's highest-graded offensive player: Payne Durham. By a mile.

Among volume-snap players, it then goes King Doerue, Broc Thompson, TJ Sheffield and Zander Horvath, respectively, with Aidan O'Connell coming in right behind. Keep in mind, his graded is weighted down by three interceptions.

This was Durham's second-best grade of the season, behind only Connecticut, which we probably shouldn't even count anymore.

This was Doerue's highest-graded game of the season, as well as Broc Thompson's.

PASSING GAME
• Aidan O'Connell was 6-of-8 for 234 yards on throws of 20 or more yards in the air, 5-of-6 over the deep middle.

• O'Connell's passing chart:
Clean: 19-32, 361, 4 TD, INT
Pressure: 7-14, 173, TD, 2 INT
No Blitz: 17-31, 317, TD, 2 INT
Blitz: 9-15, 217, 4 TD, INT

• Play concept:
Playaction: 18-25, 368, 3 TD, 2 INT (impeccable grade)
No Playaction: 8-21, 166, 2 TD, INT (below average grade)
Screen: 4-4, 21
No screen: 22-42, 513, 5 TD, 3 INT

• Strangely, Purdue was only 10-20 on passes between zero and nine yards, usually some of the highest-percentage throws.

• Purdue allowed 17 pressures on Aidan O'Connell, per PFF, six of them off Eric Miller at right tackle and four off Cam Craig on the left side. But O'Connell was only hit once.

For as productive as the offense was, no offensive lineman graded about the strata of average to below average, not that it mattered.

• One drop for Purdue. By Garrett Miller.

• Yards after the catch: 249. Broc Thompson had 114 himself.

RUNNING GAME
• Purdue averaged a modest 2.32 yards after contact, but that accounted for 72 of its 107 raw yards.

PURDUE DEFENSE
Snap Counts
(Some of these numbers are staggering)

Defensive Line
DaMarcus Mitchell 68 (more than double his prior season-high of 33)
Jack Sullivan 83 (51 more than his prior game high of 32)
Lawrence Johnson 75 (season high)
Prince Boyd 61 (played 51 all season prior)
Damarjhe Lewis 58 (season high)
Kydran Jenkins 43
Jeff Marks 25 (played 29 all season prior)
Joe Anderson 24 (played 31 all season prior)
Khordae Sydnor 4 (true freshman)
Greg Hudgins 3

Linebacker
Jalen Graham 109
Kieren Douglas 109
Jaylan Alexander 92
Khali Saunders 18 (played 25 all season prior)
Clyde Washington 1

Secondary
Sanoussi Kane (CB) all 111 (true freshman — played 90 snaps all season prior)
Jamari Brown (CB) all 111
Cam Allen (S/CB I think) 87
Chris Jefferson (S/CB I think) 74
Marvin Grant (S) 65

GRADES AND SUCH
• Purdue's highest-graded defender by a mile: DaMarcus Mitchell, a reminder of what could have been for him at Purdue had he been able to be on the field more and been a bit more reliable on and off the field.

Mitchell accounted for six pressures, three hurries, two hits on the QB, a sack and a forced fumble, the big one right before halftime, an enormous play that got snowed under by everything that came after.

Joe Anderson in his first meaningful action of the season graded the second-best in his two-dozen snaps.

Purdue's rank-and-file defensive linemen all graded solid — Lawrence Johnson, Boyd, Marks.

In what might have been a good start to 2022 for him, Jack Sullivan graded OK.

The secondary across the board didn't graded well, but given the context of its lack of depth and the offense it was facing, no one's going to lose sleep here.

For crying out loud, Sanoussi Kane played 111 snaps.

COVERAGE
• Tennessee targeted Kane six times and got only two receptions for 26 yards.

• All five of Tennessee's touchdown passes came on snaps where Purdue blitzed.

• Hendon Hooker's passing details ...
Clean: 19-30, 231 yards, 2 TD
Pressure: 7-12, 147, 3 TD
No Blitz: 13-24, 177
Blitz (22 snaps): 13-18, 201, 5 TD (best grade)

• Hooker was just 3-13 on throws of 20 or more yards in the air, though two of them were touchdowns, both of them early.

RUN D
Tennessee averaged 3.09 yards after contact.

Purdue missed 12 tackles.
