Best news I've heard all day.
The interesting part is that Dan’s local show goes head to head against his boss’s show in Indy. Which means that will probably go bye-bye as well at some point. Those of us that listen to his show have known this for months
Totally agree. He is abrasive, which automatically turns some people off. But if you looked past that, you'd see he knows the game and the people. I enjoyed listening to him with a grain of salt.Good and bad.
I liked that DD loves Painter (for all the right reasons).
I liked that DD hammered IU (for all the right reasons).
DD could rub people the wrong way, which was very entertaining at times, and highly annoying at others.
DD was the anti-ESPN on ESPN, which was glorious.
And, somewhat redundant, it was refreshing that DD didn't give a fat rat's @ss if you were offended. It was a conversation.
DD broke down the game, during the game. While he didn't always get it right, he was right much more often than not.
What do you mean? That during the 9-10 hour he is going head to head with the Fan Morning Show? The interesting part is that Dan’s local show goes head to head against his boss’s show in Indy. Which means that will probably go bye-bye as well at some point.
Yeah, I'm not sure what NewPal was trying to say there either. It doesn't seem like it interferes with anything. He must mean Clay Travis' show that he does, that took Rush Limbaugh's time slot, but I doubt that's an issue with Clay. What do you mean? Yeah, that’s what I was referring to, but maybe Travis is fine with that arrangement.Yeah, I'm not sure what NewPal was trying to say there either. It doesn't seem like it interferes with anything. He's better than "Dukie" V but unfortunately just as insufferable. I won't say he doesn't know the game because he does, but he's also yet another blowhard who is also always looking to prognosticate during the game in what I take as him thinking he has to try and prove something to the audience. It's distracting and can be laughable when the exact opposite of what he predicts happens. But he'll just keep doing it. Sure, he'll offer some player and strategy knowledge and can sufficiently break down a play, but it's few and far between from where he's talking about the history and relevance of himself.Great news---when he does a game, I turn off the sound.
He was a lot better when he first started doing games 10-12 years ago. He was just trying to be an analyst back then, not the star of the show. He's better than "Dukie" V but unfortunately just as insufferable. If this means Robbie Hummel and Jason Benetti will be calling more games together, then score 1 for us fans.

Is DD a victim of the cancel culture?

Well said. Will you give the eulogy at my funeral? You can pretty much use this word for word minus the ESPN stuff.Good and bad.

It seems like when a sport is entertainment for the "masses" rather than for those that love the game and they many times are different...entertainment leads to hyperbole. BTW, even in Siena Italy I try to stay somewhat current. SIBoiler2 knows I'm here. Ran into Sandi Marcus in Rome with his wife. Saw this tall guy walking towards me on the other side of the street and boy did he look familiar. Kim then said is that a ball player and that was all I needed. I yelled Marcus and he stopped and turned around and his wife yelled back Boilers? We then walked towards each other and probably talked for 20 minutes. I finally said, "We need to go and let them get to lunch". Both he and his wife were very engaging. Apparently he is still playing in Italy. His wife Tollie (sp?) took a pic of the three of us. Kim now has a pic with Gene, Harms, Carson and Sandi and she is only 5'5" and the pic with Haarms is funny. Sent the pic to SIBoiler since I had his email and he was following some pics in Italy.Exact same thing for Vitale. Go back and check out some of his early days' calls/games, and you might not even quite recognize the voice.....a lot of good insight and enthusiasm but not anywhere near the over-the-top hyperbole/schtick, which maybe was entertaining at first......then became quite tiresome with the never ending Vaudevillian tour of Dukie V and his Paisanos.
I generally liked DD....but I totally see where others found him abrasive at best.
It's also partly a function of the 24/7/365 media cycle, and sports is in no way immune from that, IMHO.
