We’ve played the #1, 9, 10, 11, 20, 30 and 34 ranked teams in Kenpom already before the New Year. We have the 6th hardest schedule so far in the country. Do we have issues - definitely. Are we prepped to win the Big Ten - 100%. I have enjoyed watching this team so far - lot of ups and downs but sometimes those teams are the most fun to watch. Are we winning it all this year - no - but we are really setting a foundation for next year. Get our center back, grab one or two play makers in the portal and look out! Happy New Year!

Schedule was great. But this team will lose too many to be B10 champs, even with a great offense and tough as nails PG, as the D just isn't good enough.
.......Unless they somehow get that corrected.

Live ball turnovers create automatic buckets at the other end.
I was going to comment on your turnovers and boards leading to D issues...which is correct, but wasn't sure how to take it to OK D which it might very well be. Turnovers on vertical passes towards your goal is usually not the problem as in the other direction or towards a wing. Those many times go for buckets at the other end...and sometimes fouls as well.

Now, if we can get a bit more offense going to the basket by Cam and Myles we might see the D spread out a bit more and "also" help the turnovers (assuming they don't add turnovers), which helps the D as well and the O. Right now they are not getting to the rim and teams run them off the line since they have not YET been a threat in the mid range. Gotta score in all three levels for perimeter players IMO

I like watching this year's team exactly because I don't expect them to win every time out. Purdue has good players. I trust Painter to maximize what they can do. I just want to see how the season plays out.

The last couple years were more tense than enjoyable for me, especially as we got closer to the NCAA Tournament.

I dunno. I want to have a really good season to show we have good bones in preparation for next year. And to give me hope that our guys will stay

Eliminating the other turnovers lead to more possession time, more shots and more points, all of which help your defense, either directly or indirectly.
From the other site: “In Purdue’s four losses, opponents have averaged 23.8 points off turnovers.”

Purdue is not built to be a great defensive team but the turnovers are obviously hugely impactful.

It was a very tough schedule for a young team returning 3 main contributors and breaking everyone into new roles.

There are some glaring weaknesses that will be really tough to overcome, but things probably aren't as bad as they seem either.

Overall I think early darlings UCLA, MSU, ILL, Oregon, Michigan would have all had similar or only slightly better record if they played Purdue’s schedule. MSU in particular had a fools gold schedule IMO.

This is a year where you just want to get in the dance and hope you are hot at the right time and bracket breaks to make a nice run.

Also, just nerding out a little bit to put things in perspective......Purdue and Auburn are the only top 100 NET teams that have played 7 Quad One games to date. Purdue is 3-4 against Quad 1.

For Comparison across B1G:
Maryland 1-2
MSU 1-2
Mich 1-2
ILL 2-3
IU 0-2
PSU 0-1
OSU 2-4
Wisky 2-3
Nebraska 1-1
NW 0-1
Iowa 0-3
Rutgers 0-3
Oregon 4-1
UCLA 3-1

A lot of the league has not been tested or not been great when they have been. Oregon and UCLA appear to be top of the class, but that travel schedule and playing in sold out B1G road venues every night might level the playing field. The league is wide open.

So other than UCLA, the B10 is way down then.....

FFS, if people say this EVERY year, then there’s no such thing as the league being “up.” The Big Ten is not down and looks like it will be really fun/competitive!
There are a lot of solid teams but I think it’s fair to say that the Big Ten looks like it lacks elite teams at the top.

This is not true. The SEC is having a great year. Definitely "up". Data supports that....article below.

As to my statement about the B10....I guess your sarcasm meter is broken as it was just a sarcastic remark. The B10 is doing ok. No SEC, but still decent.
