Belongs to MSU according to this tweet. We have to be up there too, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know?

Purdue's is strong, however our turnovers have hurt us.

Purdue is #3 in assists per game in the Big Ten (behind Michigan State and Iowa).

Purdue is 11th in turnover margin.
Purdue is 10th in turnovers/game.

Our assist/turnover ratio is actually #3 in the Big Ten, but Michigan State is in the same predicament as us. They are leading in assists, but last in turnover margin.

Purdue and Michigan State are both turning the ball over more than their opponents. Granted, MSU's schedule has been tougher than ours, but if we can get our turnovers down - which we've been better, but still inconsistent on, it will make us even more efficient.

Tunovers/Minute

Swanigan .12
Hammons .09
Hill .08
Edwards .06
Haas .06
Davis .06
Cline .03
Stephens .03
Mathias .03
Thompson .02

Swanigan is the number that jumps out as one that could improve as he gains experience. He averages over 3 a game right now. Would love to see him average fewer than 2 per game during conference play.

The good thing (from what I have seen) concerning CS is most of these can and should get corrected. Some of these are offensive fouls, and another chunk is just a little better execution from him and the other player involved (like I Haas). Most are not what I would label "dumb" mistakes.......sure.....things need to get cleaned up, but I think he knows what needs to be done......he's also just ten games in.

Swanigan's numbers the last two games are down to 0.06 per minute. Hopefully that trend continues.

Painter told Dan Dakich yesterday that Swanigan is figuring out that "less is more". I think that one of the reasons Painter is playing Swanigan so much is that Swanigan is in a crash course, essentially, in learning how to play the 4.

Freshmen big men routinely struggle with turnovers. Nothing new. Just a matter of how quickly he manages to adjust. Obviously he's made some improvements so far, but it will almost be a reset button with the remaining of our non-conf/Big Ten schedule.

The team turnovers right now concern me because our schedule has not been that tough (our SOS is 241 in Sagarin ratings). But it's also a situation where your turnovers usually get better as time goes on playing together and tightening a rotation (which we're not sure how that will play out).

There are 2 categories that Purdue is not in the top half in the Big Ten on: turnovers and steals. Steals I am not terribly concerned about as long as the defensive stats hold. Our worst statistic is turnovers.

The lack of steals doesn't bother me at all, but I agree that turnovers are higher than they should be.
