Any word on Rondale Moore?

Could this be a case of Double Secret deal that he HAS signed but Purdue has agreed not to list him or speak of him until he has his day in the Sun, announcing his selection of school at the All-Star FB game on January 6th...just wondering!

Honest question here... Do players/universities do that? I guess I have never heard of that, but I suppose it's possible. I guess I figure in the world we live in today nobody can keep a secret anymore. Who would see the LOI when he sends it in? Is it just the Head Coach or do more people at the university see it? The more people in the know the less chance the secret can be kept.

Institutions must file the NLI to the conference office within 14 days of the signature date, which if signed on December 22nd, would give the school until January 5th.

I think this has more to do with it than anything else. If the kid wants his moment in the sun on national TV, let him go for it. It would be an incredibly boost to Purdue to have a guy like that announce on national TV considering that usually only happens for PSU, OSU, and UM at stuff like that.

If it is faxed in, it could be only the people or individual manning the Fax. If it is emailed in with an electronic signature wt the paper one to follow, only to who he sent it to.

Correct and since they have until midnight and no one other than the Conference office would see it and is closed on Saturday January 6th....not that I know that it will happen with Moore, but I know it can, since we have one of our Student/Athletes doing a similar announcement...he has signed, dated the 22nd and "I Believe" he sent it in but don't know that for a fact and has not shown up on the colleges released list yet!

Any information on how Rondale’s visit went or if there is even still room in this class (I assume room would be made) for his commitment?

He was a name I was hoping to see in the commitment list yesterday.
Anyone have insight on why Moore has Indiana and KY listed as high interest on his profile? Seems odd after just decommitting to have those listed. There has been no chatter on IU boards about him.

I certainly may be wrong, but I just don't picture Brohm as being comfortable fostering a lot of ego centric self aggrandizing behavior by a recruit that may carry over to when he is a "team member."

It's a big publicity moment not only for the kid, but for the school.

To have your name listed at a game where the blue bloods are scooping up commitments too....it's big time.

Brohm may not but he knows this is part of the recruiting game and it's a very important moment for them.

Interesting considering IU had a hard time figuring out Purdue had a hard time defending Cobbs until late in the game. Cobbs should have had near 200 yards receiving and 3 TD's that game....I think Allen is eventually going to get to a run centered attack there as his mindset as a defensive guy is to minimize mistakes. Can't see him attracting high level offenses at IU.

I think people are making a bigger deal out of this coming announcement than it is. This doesn't define the young man. Karlaftis made his announcement at a game too and the only thing I was worried about was what shirt was going to be on him when he pulled that jersey off.

From what I have heard from running into a couple of Trinity students recently, I have not heard talk about UK or IU as being competition for Purdue for Moore. I heard other higher level programs as being more likely competitors. Take that talk for what it might be worth.

Mind of an 18 year old. :)

Seems that Purdue and U of L had all the mentions earlier in the month. Something could have developed at either UK or IU, but if so, it was very quiet among the fanatics like us that follow it. Could he also be playing the Rivals system for fun? Maybe...

Also very quiet from the IU side. I have heard nothing about IU's interest in him.

I would fear teams like Texas A &M, FSU or Florida with scholarship space and a new coach a lot more than teams like MIch, OSU UK and IU. his trainer listed FSU as one of his 6 finalists, and prior to 5 days ago, FSU wasn't even in the picture recruiting him. When you're 18, an yo u get a call from a team like Florida or FSU, you need to sit back and take time to think about it.

While it may be great publicity to announce at the all star game, I don't believe that's his primary reason for not signing early. The poster from trinity indicated several big name colleges have now entered the arena.

I honestly think it’s a mistake. When he decommitted, the schools that he listed were Alabama, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, and Purdue.

Given: I love to speculate. of that bunch, there is one team that was never included as an interest or offer prior to 2 weeks ago. that team recently hired a new coach. FSU.

I believe Rondale knows all about Purdue. but before he makes that binding decision, he at least wants to explore all of his options.

a question I have. Rondale has said he plans to make his decision known at the 6 January all star game. Can an athlete make an official or non official visit during the no-contact period?

I know they are not allowed official visits during dead periods, but I don’t know about unofficial visits. I am assuming this would apply to unofficials too, since this would still be contact.

To me, I have a lot of thoughts that don't center around what this kid is gonna do, but are more on Purdue's side... He should make the decision that is right for him, and with this whole process, I'm content to let it play out. I believe we will be fine if he doesn't come here, but a few thoughts...

1) This was never so hard... When Tiller was here and the Boilers had the 2003 season they had, it should have been much easier to add that next wave of talent without rolling the dice on headcases that we got because they were headcases... I heard a lot of excuses involving a lot of defeatist horse**** and a lot of "Purdue will never get players like x player or like x school does."

Execute, win and recruit to your weaknesses without writing certain things off... then showcase impact recruits to sell to the next wave.

Case in point.. we had a nice spread offense but really couldn't get that back to go with it, separate Joey Harris.. even Sheets wasn't really busting them out tackle to tackle (no I'm not saying Joey Harris was better than Sheets, but was a tad more complete/a better bet between the tackles).

The recruiting priorities should have been maniacal in terms of finding another Harris.. as well as recruiting more safeties who could have the impact of Pollard and Schweigert.. heck, in following years, I would have been elated to have Adrian Beasley times two if we never got another Pollard or Stu...

2) Why is this important?

What Brohm should be showing at Purdue is this..

Go out and land high level recruits that are just another guy at Texas... then showcase those recruits early in their careers and win while doing it... while also pulling in high level recruits who aren't just available to you because the word is out that they are bad seeds..

Then you show that to all the other recruits and instead of worrying about defeatist BS about what Purdue can't do.. you go out and show the world what we can do..

So hopefully Moore is one of the beginnings of that...

His trainer named those school. And 2 of those schools (can't think which 2 off the top of my head) haven't offered him

Mark Stoops doesn't want lack of in-state signees to become a trend for Kentucky football

UK coach Mark Stoops breaks down 2018 early signees Jon Hale/The Courier-Journal

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former DeSales star Bryant Pirtle’s decision to sign with Utah Wednesday has UK on track to finish the 2018 recruiting cycle without a commitment from a Kentucky high school graduate.

It is uncharted territory for the Wildcats.

“I definitely don’t want that to be the case,” UK coach Mark Stoops said. “I definitely want to continue to make Kentucky our priority. Some years there’s going to be more than others. There’s always a good quality in Kentucky. The quantity is not maybe the same as other states, but there’s always some very good players in here.”

UK has signed multiple Kentucky high school graduates in every class since Rivals.com started rating recruits in 2002. A search through the university’s media guide archives by the Lexington Herald-Leader revealed UK has listed at least one Kentuckian in its signing class in every year since 1939, the oldest media guide in the archive.

Mark Stoops signed two Kentucky high school graduates in his 2017 class. He signed at least three Kentuckians in his first four classes at UK. He signed the top four Kentuckians in Rivals’ rankings in 2016.

The local 2018 class was not as kind to Kentucky though.

Rivals ranks Waggener defensive back Jairus Brents as the No. 1 recruit in the class. UK famously offered Brents a scholarship as a seventh grader, but he recently listed Wisconsin, Pitt, Michigan State and Duke as his final four. UK did not pursue Brent’s Waggener teammate Tahj Rice, a four-star defensive lineman who committed to Duke.

Four-star Bowling Green linebacker Justice Dingle, the No. 2 prospect in Kentucky according to Rivals, picked Georgia Tech. Trinity wide receiver Rondale Moore, who decommitted from Texas this week, included UK in his original top six but is believed to be focusing on other programs, including Purdue, as he searches for a news school before signing day in February.

Pirtle emerged on UK’s radar late in the process as a junior-college transfer from Pima Community College, but he left UK and U of L without a Kentuckian in their 2018 classes after visiting both campuses the last two weeks. Waggener wide receiver Manny Harper, who previously announced he would walk on at Kentucky, tweeted Wednesday he would wait until February to sign his letter of intent.

Brents, Moore and Trinity defensive end Arak McDuffie are the only uncommitted recruits among Rivals’ top 10 prospects in Kentucky heading into the February signing period. McDuffie does not currently have a scholarship offer from UK.

Barring a surprise, the 2019 class might be UK’s next chance to land one of the state’s top recruits. Here is a look at Kentucky high schools in that class with scholarship offers from Kentucky, according to the Rivals database.

Stephen Herron (Trinity) – The four-star edge rusher has already committed to Michigan, though he did include UK in his top 10 before that decision.

Milton Wright (Christian Academy of Louisville) – The four-star wide receiver already reports offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Illinois in addition to Kentucky and Louisville.

Bryan Hudson (Scott County) – UK has already made a strong push for the four-star offensive lineman, but he reports more than 15 offers with powerhouses like Alabama, Ohio State and Florida among his suitors.

Jacob Lacey (South Warren) – The four-star defensive tackle has already committed to Notre Dame.

Shawnkel Knight-Goff (Doss) – UK was the first local program to offer the three-star defensive end in July 2016, but Louisville, Indiana and Purdue have followed. Cincinnati offered before UK.

Tanner Bowles (Glasgow) – Another in-state prospect UK faces big-time competition for. Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, LSU, Louisville and Indiana have also offered the 247Sports four-star offensive lineman.

J.J. Weaver (Moore) – A four-star prospect according to 247Sports, Weaver listed Louisville as his “top choice” in August, but there’s a long way to go in his recruitment.

Wandale Robinson (Western Hills) – The three-star athlete might be the safest bet to pick UK next year among Kentucky 2019 prospects. He has visited campus many times but does have offers from Louisville, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Duke, Syracuse, Virginia and others.
