Sayonara…O....M...G.....
Thank you.
What do the economic policies of the Biden administration have to do with the people who fell below the poverty line due to inflation between 2004 and 2018? Let me guess, you googled "inflation causes poverty," or something to that effect, and then found an article that appeared to support your point without looking at the date on it?
And did you actually read it? This article discusses the difference in the impact of inflation on people of different income levels and also criticizes Trump-era policies that would've made things worse for those who needed it most:
"Despite this evidence, which shows that our current practice of using aggregate inflation measures significantly understates income inequality and poverty, recent proposals by the Trump administration seek to use smaller inflation rates to adjust the poverty threshold. Doing so would result in a lower poverty line and lower official poverty rates over time. This would, in turn, mean that fewer and fewer low-income Americans would find themselves eligible for federal benefits, which have been shown to reduce the poverty level substantially.
Taking seriously the actual inflation rates faced by those at the bottom of the income distribution indicates that we currently have a too-rosy view of the actual levels of deprivation faced by those at the bottom of the income distribution. We should be doing more, not less, to help them make ends meet."
I'm sure there are a number of people who have fallen below the poverty line in the last year and a half and some of them likely did so because of inflation. I'm betting it's less than 3 million, but probably more than in other 1.5-year periods thanks to a higher-then-normal inflation rate. But, yet again, the article you've posted has nothing to do with the point you're trying to make.
Ok, for real, I'm done here. Thank you for at least admitting you were wrong about the cause of the 3.7 million kids who fell into poverty between Dec. 2021 and Jan. 2022. I look forward to your post condemning Republicans for not supporting a program that significantly reduced child poverty.
I noticed you couldn’t acknowledge Biden’s self-inflicted inflation. Pretty much all non-far left economists have done so…but I would expect zero acknowledgment from you and your ilk, so par for the course.
government spending causes inflation when there are excess job openings….Biden has been pumping trillions of dollars into this bill economy with >5MM job openings for the las 18 months while paying people unemployment benefits when ample jobs existed.
Biden Inflation…live with it…he’s your President
As for the poor, I’m not sure they’ll be able to live with it
