Thinking this through. I think either: A) the entire group goes (All coaches AND Burke) or B)they all stay. I think any middle ground will just make things worse.
I obviously vote that they all go - but that likely has close to a $10m price tag. The $6.6m for DH and you likely have to buy out Burkes last year and any other costs related to the assistants.
I think anything else just makes a bigger problem. Example firing the assistants.
Example: we fire the coordinators. Who in the hell are we gonna get to become a coordinator? Any new coordinator is screwed and will likely to get fired at the end of next year - so joining DH staff is the definition of a career limiting move. Add that to all of the open jobs next year AND all of the openings that those openings create and we will be scraping bottom of the barrel for someone to join his staff.
Therefore, with Burke being the definition of a lame duck. We are likely screwed. therefore, if Burke isn't going to leave, then I would just say we stay with status quo. As painful as it would be, I think that May be better than some cobbled together solution that could actually make things worse (as if that's possible).
I have to say. The exit of 1) Tiller 2) Keady and 3) Burke has been less than stellar for university.
