If she's healthy, I would love for Madison to come back next year.
Good post that I agree with, I’m hoping the Reynolds sisters and likely Harper are all that leave, Madison for a year would be fine, she’s certainly better than any transfer Purdue brought in last year, that in itself is sort of good I suppose.
It wasn’t necessary for Madison to enter the portal if she was returning to Purdue. Rumors are Butler. Parkinson hasn’t done well.

Does this year count for her though? She seemed to be content to sideline herself most of the season. Stevenson maybe? Maybe she misses Purdue, she certainly would be playing much more in West Lafayette.
No but it gives her options, I initially said Butler seems like a place since she lives in that area. Guessing she’ll be at Butler or Purdue.
IU might be an option as well, they need guards after this class graduates.
The last high profile transfer IU brought in I believe was Parrish three years ago. What has held IU back from being a perennial contender for the top 3 in the Big Ten is lack of a quality bench. Its almost comical how they keep going into seasons with 5-6 quality players, and then a big drop off in talent if they have to go very far to their subs. The Layden's would give them some of that versatile quality depth they have lacked under Moren.
No disrespect for the Laydens. Can we trade our coach and both Laydens for their coach? What/who else would we need to throw in?

While it may still happen, no announcement yet on any changes to her staff. I thought it might be the case that she would be "highly encouraged" to make some changes. If she stays with the same staff, the flame out next year from a team performance perspective is guaranteed IMO.Probably have to throw in Matt Painter to get iu to take that deal. 😃
You are assuming Bobo pays any attention to any sport not football or men's basketball. Evidence suggests he is only vaguely aware of the other sports and puts zero effort or resources from his office into then beyond the bare minimum. If he cared even a little about women's basketball Gearlds would never have been hired, or she would have been fired by now.Perhaps CKG's assistants, but I'm thinking that might be a dealbreaker from IU's standpoint.
Hopefully someone with plenty of experience. A former head coach would be my preference.
If this was a few years ago....I would be advocating for Gene Keady. Not sure how today's players would react to getting yelled at though. Lol.
Gene is WAY too old, he'd lost his edge his lay couple of years before he retired as it was.
No quality coach is signing up to join a head coach who is realistically a year away from dismissal if the AD is at all competent
Madison seems to have been playing with less than full fervor her last year. If there was something bothering her that may now be resolved,if so, I think she would be a positive addition to the team. Watching the quality of the teams in the big Dance, reinforces my feelings that we have fallen way off the charts. There are quite a few amazing female basketball players out there, why can't we bag a couple? Saying woman's basketball is not a money sport could be turned around with a winning team. Seems to me that Mackey was packed back around the turn of the century when we were at the top of the field.
First reason is we hired an NAIA coach without 1 day of D1 experience as a coach and ZERO connections to top end recruits and their networks. Second because of who we hired, she had no reputation with the recruits, no one outside of Purdue fans knew who she was. Third, she brought over kids from Marian with no D1 coaching experience to fill out her staff and promoted Guyton, a former player under Versyp that her only experience was as video coordinator, because that was the best she could get. Fourth, recruiting is actually the least of CKG's problems. We had 5 highly ranked kids on this years team and a couple good under the radar types. But the coaches complete inability to use them in a competent offense and defense coupled with an alarming inability to develop talent has 3 in the portal already, and the others may follow. She has lost more talent to the portal than UWisc or UMinn has had the last 4 years. And most importantly, Bobo the clown, the man sitting in the AD's chair, but not doing that job competently, does not care a bit about women's basketball. He offered Stephanie White the job, but Vandy refused to release her, then two weeks later when her whole team rebelled and threatened to go into the portal, she was fired. She was a truly awful college coach, even worse than Gearlds has been. His second call was to Gearlds. He made NO ATTEMPT to hire someone who could have succeeded here like Shea Ralph, or as I also championed at the time Mosely. The coaches at UMinn, MSU, and UILL have all been hired after Gearlds, all took over bad teams, and all have shown vast improvement. Get a coach in here that can develop talent and run a competent offense and defense and Purdue will slowly come back to life.
Stoddard is the only one other than Stevenson I can think of, and I cannot believe Mary Ashley would leave Stanford.
I would think it's going to Lafayette Jeff HC Jenna Sullivan who seems to have a really close relationship with KG. She has done a good job at Jeff and played for KG at Marian I believe. Normally the final coaching spot goes to someone who is fairly less experienced as I believe it's the lowest paying on the staff.

Nothing happening within Purdue women's bball makes sense any more, lol. I'm guessing Bobinski strongly urged a changed in the coaching staff, which seems reasonable since the last two years have been terrible. So we'll replace a coach with several years experience with an entry level coach, potentially from a local high school. Makes sense, right? No idea how effective Guyton was, so I'm not making any judgments there, but let's toss one more newbie coach in the mix and that should help right the ship. ? Does the local hs coach referred to in an earlier post have a star player on the rise?
Are you a professional of any sort? Do you not realize that coaching is a profession in which upward mobility happens once a coach gains experience? Guyton started as a Basketball opps for us. She was promoted to the entry level assist position and now after a few years of this is most likely looking to continue rising in the coaching ranks elsewhere or possibly getting out of the business all together. Who knows. But what I do know is that I'm confused why you are confused? This is an entry level coaching position. We are getting no one super experienced in this position. It's meant for a relative D1 new comer.

No competent coach with enough experience to actually do good here is going to come to a program that is sinking like the Titanic to try and save a head coach that is completely in over her head and not at all qualified for the position she is in. In fact any coach that could help is almost assuredly far more qualified to be our head coach than our head coach is, and so is Komara for that matter.
and we have 6 in the portal, or .8 percent of the total out of 344 schools. Clearly we are ahead of the average. If every school had 6 in the portal the total would be over 1900 kids.
But of those six. Who did you want back? Swanson and Poole in my book. So I look at it like there are two in the portal. Jayla/Reynolds good luck in their next move. Layden? Can you really count someone who wasnt on the roster last year? (Serious Question)
Anyone counting Smith or Layden in Purdue's transfer pool is clearly pushing an agenda. All I heard all year is how bad the Reynolds sisters were and now it's some travesty they are gone.

Sort of agree, for me maybe Swanson (had a down season) and maybe Poole although when she played she looked undersized and very raw on the court. I still think Madison might return, she’s better than Swanson is in my opinion. Hopefully, no one else leaves, would be nice to see the 4 left and 2 recruits stay on. Probably see 7-8 ladies brought in, nothing wrong with the back of the bench having final year transfers from lower levels.
