Speaking of Vincent. He would fit right in with the last second heroics!
I rarely go to the former peegs board, but I was interested in who they were looking at since they lost out on McKneely. They really want some guys who can shoot. I didn't see any discussion about McKneely, but there is a guy there whining that he is certain that Painter cheats at recruiting and delivers cash to get commitments. He specifically listed Loyer as an example. To their credit, some posters were ridiculing the guy and pointed out that Loyer wasn't even highly rated when he commited. One guy even said that if Painter cheats, he doesn't do it very well.
It was strange to see that someone also said that Underwood is a cheater at Illinois.
That's what I get for thinking I can go over there and gain some knowledge.
That board is only to be used for entertainment or to make you feel better about yourself.
Underwood likely does cheat. Oklahoma State is in trouble for recruiting violations that happened when Underwood was the head coach there.
I hadn't heard this. What defines cheating these days? Illegal contact? Paying players?
Well, it certainly made me glad that I'm not THEM!
I typically think of cheating as paying players, but I guess illegal contact is also cheating. I believe Oklahoma State is in trouble for paying players and the FBI arrested one of Underwood’s OSU assistants.
Interesting that they chose OSU for the first fall of the hammer. It will be even more interesting to see what happens with Kansas and Arizona.
OSU had one level-one violation (the most serious level of violation), the NCAA is accusing Kansas of committing 5 level-one violations. Of course, Kansas is trying to stall it and take it to court.
I believe it all happened before Underwood was there. He was only there a year. I believe the violations happened under Travis Ford, but I don’t recall specifically.
Painter and staff are doing a great job of recruiting a TEAM and not "chasing stars". In tonight's post-game presser he mentioned culture and(while discussing Newman) alluded to the type of guy he wants. After the short lived(and largely failed) couple of years where he did recruit rankings instead of culture he's gotten back to his type of guys, and it's paying off. I know next year's class includes a couple of highly ranked guys, but both of them seem to be great additions to the culture regardless of ranking. Below I've listed the 247 composite and rivals rankings of the main contributors to this year's team. Pretty amazing, when compared to the result the TEAM is producing. That's what you want....guys who really, really want to win and learn.....talent alone can only get you so far - but are you willing to take the coaching to heart and do whatever it takes to get better and consistent? CMP has said it before - when some of your top guys are doing that, it really filters to the rest of the team. He is unlikely to show it, but he has to be smiling a little inside seeing this foundation coming together more.
Doesn't mean there won't be setbacks - but Matt Painter understands the long game, IMO. These two, Jaden Ivey and Brandon Newman are just getting started.....we shall see, but I might not be able to put down the Old Gold and Black glasses for a little while.

What's the word on Heide? It seemed like a few weeks back he was nearly a lock to commit any day. Now it's been weeks since I've heard anything about him.
I believe you are correct about this. Auburn is currently taking a hit on this topic, with a tournament ban for at least this year. Not sure if they self-imposed or not. Okie State's is on appeal.

I haven’t seen anything but it had to help that we beat Minnesota last night.
Looks like Eric Bossi picking Purdue for Heide with confidence of 7. He did pick us for Loyer and Brown.
Heide’s team lost in a close one to Chet Holmgren and company yesterday in a battle of top HS teams in Minnesota. Heide won the opening tap against Holmgren.
The fact these kids are wearing masks on their chin makes me lose faith in humanity.
We are in Will Shaver’s top 9 (for whatever that’s worth) after just offering. He’s a 6’-9” PF/C from Alabama. Don’t know if this offer means anything regarding Iwuchukwu or Washington.

Yeah it sure doesn’t seem like Painter is planning on saving a scolly or two for any of the juniors who might want to stay. Of course there is always a chance for a transfer or two but I don’t like speculating on that.

Indiana guidelines state that you don't have to wear them if you are working out or competing.
So if you exercizing in close contact with 25 other players and multiple refs and coaches, you can't infect anyone. But if you walk through the doors of a restaurant, you can be highly contagious -- until you sit down at your table.

Saw where 2020 SG CJ Gunn committed to IU. According to Rivals, Purdue showed interest but never offered -- probably because that is a position where they are loaded and have Loyer coming in for that class. I have watch Gunn play in a few games and he is a good fit for Archie's system, as the IU faithful would say. He has the ability to be a good defender, but I haven't seen anything from him that suggests he will be a big-time scorer. His team doesn't really look for him to be their go-to guy. He is long, fluid, and athletic. I think of a smaller version of Kelsey Barlow. I also think he is a clone of half of IU's team.
