2022 Recruiting

Covid is spread primarily through inhalation of respiratory droplets not vapors. Your video doesnā€™t address this and only proves that oxygen can get through the mask that you claim is restricting air flow.
Not only do the right types of masks, being worn correctly, protect against the transmission of the Covid virus, according to the numbers during the 2020 flu season, they protected against the transmission of the flu virus as well.

Why is this being argued here?
Gas clouds or respiratory droplets? And are we talking flu or covid-19?

I walked up stairs with a mask and wanted to pass out. I walked from my basement without and did it twice with ease.šŸ¤£

Nice to know we have an English major on the board. Good catch on the typo, it is evident that you took many high level writing classes.

It is also evident that you never took a biology or chemistry class because you clearly do not have any understanding of the size of an oxygen molecule compared to a cell. If you believe a cloth mask is not able to stop a coronavirus cell, it certainly will not restrict the flow of oxygen.

Maybe it is best to leave the science talk to people who know a bit more about the topic than you do, such as doctors or the average 10th grader.
A virus is not a cell.

I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.

Great question, proudopete. I can tell you why, at least on my part (and let's ignore the incredibly mixed signals sent by the CDC).

From scientific data, what is the ability of the mask to protect me from Covid? What is the percent probability that I will not get infected when wearing a mask that these players are wearing (and which they are obviously required to wear)?

I am reluctant to continue this discussion but since itā€™s still relatively friendly Iā€™ll answer this.
The wearing of masks is not meant to protect the person wearing the mask from getting the Covid virus. The masks are meant to slow the spread of the droplets that carry the virus into the air that are emitted from the person wearing the mask. In other words, the masks are meant to be worn to protect the people around you, not yourself. This is why they are saying those who havenā€™t been vaccinated should continue to wear the mask. Not to protect the non-vaccinated from breathing in the virus but to limit the amount of droplets the non-vaccinated emits into the air around others. The vaccine has shown to prevent the spread of the virus from vaccinated people so the only people who can still carry and spread the virus are those without the vaccine.
This seems silly to discuss after the entire country has ditched the masks and the spread has been slowed to the point that we may just see the end of this long year or so where somehow a serious virus spreading globally became a political back and forth.

Of course covering your nose and mouth with a piece of fabric is going to restrict the amount of air youā€™re able to inhale. I think the amount of restriction is what seems to get confused.
The flu season was basically nonexistent last year and the reason behind that is the widespread wearing of masks as well as social distancing. This tends to support the fact that although masks arenā€™t 100% reliable, they do have an effect on the spread of airborne illness.

Interesting that we are pushing hard on a PF when we have major inroads with Jalen Washington. Wonder if this is to get Jalen to commit, if we think we are losing momentum or just casting a wide net.
Reed is listed as a center on Rivals but probably a tweener. Washington would be the preferred commit since we have a long history there I think. Shaver seems more likely over Reed too but who knows. Lusk may have some inroads from recruiting him at Creighton. No visit scheduled yet that I found but Reed is visiting M$U.

Seems CMP is at least considering oversigning in 2022.

Ok, your systematic view vs mine. I feel it's because the word "COVID" that puts people in fear, because it's foreign. The "Flu" is a standard yearly sickness and people have developed to live with it, shot or no shot. if your Flu reasoning is good then why didn't it work for the defense of COVID? Once again, I'm back to basketball after this. Enjoy your holiday weekend.

With all due respect, I don't think it is silly, unless you believe that we will never have another pandemic where people will be required to wear masks. I also don't think any scientific discussion is silly. It only gets silly when people rely on pseudoscience and political agendas.

I have yet to see scientific numbers associated with the effectiveness of masks. Surely after all this time someone can provide them. I did see a recent report that researchers in Europe determined that the masks provide zero protection against transmission of the virus. The report came under attack by people who had no data of their own, which can only mean their protests are based on grounds not related to science (e.g., political). If nothing else, we have infection rates for states where masks have been required and for states where they have not been required. The data presents a very different picture than the hypothesis that masks protect people from the virus.

the "scientists" have been all over the board on that issue on mask effectiveness.

I'm old enough to remember that it was "Neanderthal thinking" to remove the mask mandate, yet there was no impact.

Nobody knows why influenza cases were down. Speculation? Yes.

Either people were compliant with the masks, or they weren't. I've seen a LOT of people screeching about the lack of mask compliance, to give credit for masks wiping out influenza.

Saw a reply about Seth Trimble coming for an official but havenā€™t seen anything else on that one. Clearly Painter has some serious guys interested.
The number of high level recruits making visits is impressive. I'm surprised at some of the players who were offered because of the current team make-up. This may end up being a very, very good class.

Looks like Jalen Washington has lined up 2 official visits.... will be interesting to see if we get one considering he is also looking at IU and Oklahoma

Not landing Washington would be a huge miss. He's a Region kid, Painter's been on him forever, and our last 3 commits have been a little underwhelming.
Disagree. From the outside looking in, seems like a tough sell, unless he grew up a huge Purdue fan. Heā€™s got 2 top 50 forwards coming in one year ahead of him. Heā€™ll have tons of schools promising more PT than Painter will. My guess is he waits till next spring to see how this season shakes out.

Yep, and three years from now you will be posting how excited you were and how much you were in favor of this class. Seen this bull spit before, and I'm sure I will see it again. Of that, I'm certain.
I haven't said anything about production (accept for Smith). I hope we get to multiple FFs with these guys. But from a name/rankings/who we beat in recruiting for these guys/ standpoint, underwhelming is the best adjective I can come up with.

You said worse things about Edey and Ivey. Some people never learn. lol
