Trump’s real closing message: his kkklan rally at MSG

OH yes corporate greed.
Do you own a business BNI?
Try a business where you depend on energy for 60% of your input costs.
Oh but fossil fuel energy sector is price gouging.
Government regulations on energy production not corporate greed raised energy prices.
Energy costs double. But, But corporate greed.
The beauty of a supply, demand and a capitalist economy is competition.
Lol. Government regulations. Not massive demand after the pandemic?

What happens to our program, if Walters does not end up getting let go this year?

Hard to blame Walters too much here, if at all. He was offered the job and took it. As others have previously mentioned there should have been more oversight on how the staff was put together. It's painfully obvious Walters needed guidance. Walters now and has been in a situation in which he's learning on the job. Not ideal for a B1G football.

In addition to only 1 win this year, the team has noticeably regressed in every facet outside of maybe punting this year.

It was a head scratcher of a hire, but I was optimistic. However, you just can't let this level of ineptitude continue for a third year in today's P4 college football. Losing is one thing, but what's worse is losing the fan base.
With this big of a gamble, there certainly better have been an early exit strategy when the gamble failed.

Criteria for next HC

First. The AD needs to evaluate how he apportions the NIL money he has available. It appears Purdue gives out more money to basketball athletes than other schools do. I’m ok with that, but in doing so, one must realize the football program will suffer.

I’m a firm believer Purdue needs to build a football program similar to the programs at Iowa and Wisconsin. Their funding is similar to Purdue and have proven teams don’t need to be pass happy to be successful in the Big 10. The concept that Purdue has to be passing oriented to be successful is a myth. I know some fans love a passing offense, but more fans are happy just with a win. Look at IU fans today.

The coach has to have experience and a staff and he has to bring recruits with him. This needs to be like a neon Deon signing where the coach will bring 10-20 recruits with him. Because at this stage, a coach arriving in December is going to have a hard time adding recruits.

Essentially a new coach is going to have done his recruiting before he arrives!

We definitely need to improve player development. Our juniors are not showing any progression that they are any better than they were as freshmen. Look at Hartwig. He started as a freshman. He’s a great player. But how much has he improved and developed over his first year?

And we need to stop blaming lack of recruiting time and the previous staff for leaving the cupboard bare. Look at IU and Wisconsin. Their coaches had basically the same amount of recruiting time. And their cupboards were bare.

Finally change the recruiting philosophy and start concentrating on recruiting elite linemen. Purdue needs to stop the pipeline of Indiana linemen going to Iowa. There is a lot of talent inside Indiana that is going to out of state schools.

And lastly rather than matching the salaries other schools are paying, pay the coach what his experience and not his potential dictates! Don’t pay a guy who has zero head coaching experience as if he has won 5 big 10 championships! And don’t pay a coach a salary that you can’t afford to buy out.
On your first point ... since NIL is coming from the fans and other donors, it's more about the AD finding a way to convince them to spend on a sinking ship instead of continued support for a successful program.

I get that FB will pay the bills, but it's hard to convince those that do pitch in on NIL that it's a valuable investment for what is essentially their entertainment dollars. It's much easier to pony up for basketball, especially when you're only talking about dishing out top $ for maybe a half dozen players on the roster each year. Also helps that Painter has developed the culture he has where the players accept that they have to produce to earn NIL $ at that level.

As for moving away from a more offensive minded approach, haven't we already gone down that road before? It can be done, but it's not going to be something that can be established in a year or two. Unfortunately that's about all new coaches have in today's environment with NIL and unfettered transfers.

I definitely agree with hiring someone that will bring a successful staff with him. That could be someone from a mid-major for all I care, as long as they keep the majority of those around that got them to that point, and supplement any openings with proven assistant coaches or coordinators.

Same with matching the salary to experience. Obviously they expect to make more if they're moving up to the P5 level, but let's not put them in the middle of B1G salaries out of the gate. Re-evaluate after year two, and increase if needed. Obviously this changes if we're pulling someone from a successful P4 program, but not sure that's something Purdue's willing or able to do at this point.

Bronco Mendenhall

In conference games He was 62-67 at Virginia including 8-9 his last two years before he retired for a few years. He has fragmented staff he cobbled together after being out of coaching. He’s coached 8 games since 2021. Something just doesn’t sit right with him when he just abruptly had to take a break from coaching. That’s a major red flag on any resume let alone P5 head coach.
can't disregard his great record at BYU, looking at his Virginia record of 6 yrs which was 36 - 38, he was hired in 2015 to a team that had 4 straight losing seasons and didn't win a bowl game since 05. His first season went 2 - 10 but 3 yrs later had a 9 win season and ACC championship, that 's progress at least. We will not get a big name guy, so out of experienced "mid grade" guys like Mendenhall, Chryst , and Fitzgerald. I think Bronco could work out

Just let the head janitor coach the rest of the season

We are likely to win our first 2 games next season and then go winless for the next 10 to finish 2 and 10. Combined with this year's 1 and 11, that will be 3 and 21 and winless in the conference for 2 years straight. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think so.
Don’t think we could beat any FBS team this year.

Harris ad triggers the MAGA chauvinists

How do you feel about transitioning men prancing around in front of adolescent girls in their locker rooms and rest rooms?

I feel like that is horrible and should be immediately stopped, and when a statute fits, should be cause for arrest.

IN FACT, I feel that way about ANY man that does that; transitioning or not. Like this guy did:

"A former beauty queen is confirming Donald Trump’s own words about walking into pageant dressing rooms unannounced, following recently resurfaced audio recordings where Trump boasted about his ability to do so as the owner of the Miss USA pageant.

Tasha Dixon, who competed as Miss Arizona in 2001, told CBS News’ Los Angeles affiliate that the GOP nominee had entered dressing rooms while her fellow contestants were “half naked.”

“Our first introduction to him was when we were at the dress rehearsal and half naked changing into our bikinis,” Dixon said in an interview with KCAL 9. “He just came strolling right in. There was no second to put a robe on or any sort of clothing or anything. Some girls were topless. Other girls were naked.”

What happens to our program, if Walters does not end up getting let go this year?

Now we have to figure out our overtime strategy. Always something to do. Haha
With our defense, we won’t hold anyone out from scoring a touchdown, so we might as well go for a possible TD each time and the 2 point conversion and possibly get lucky. Not that we have to worry about that in our final few games.

Burgess

I hope he doesn't RS. I think we are going to need all the help we can get at the 5 this season. I understand the reason to do it if he isn't going to get much PT, but with the other candidates I just don't see how that is possible. DJ is just too skinny and weak right now and Berg is untested and pretty slow footed. Doesn't mean I don't like the future of either one, but for this season, I think a 3rd #5 would be very beneficial.
Agree. I don't expect him to RS, but not my decision.

Minutes

I'm all for the lineups that contribute the most to winning :) . Agree that the Colvin, Cox, and Harris have the potential to be great options on Offense. Was nice to see Colvin and Harris attack the glass. Cox may lead the team in points scored per minute of playing time. Appears that Heide will not be featured offensively unless the other team doubles the post. Therefore, my personal opinion is that Heide needs to be more aggressive when given the rare touch. Excited about seeing this team win a talent laden Big 10. I anticipate Oregon, UCLA, and USC will be in the top 1/3rd of the conference.
Love what Cox and Harris bring to the table on both ends of the court.

I wouldn't expect USC to be top 3rd, but you never know. They're kinda starting over, new team, new coach, new conference.

Burgess

I've been on the Berg bandwagon since before he got here. I loved his recruiting tape, mostly because it show him to have a solid stroke and could handle the ball for a 7 footer.
For him, I think it's just a matter of playing time and having the game slow down for him. And, Painter give him the rope to make mistakes.
Agree.

I think it makes sense to RS Burgess for now to see how the other guys play in the first several games. The RS can be pulled if it looks like he is needed or is made so by injury to others.

Bob is a recalcitrant. If you say something that he disagrees with, you're a liar. If you post a link to support your comment, it's fake news. If you post multiple links, it's a right wing conspiracy. And simply by calling you a liar, that proves he's right.
And don't forget Bob's last resort.....Jan 6.

Criteria for next HC

I would be perfectly fine if the athletic dept were given access to some of the university endowment funds (which is in the billions).
I know, I know, people will wring their hands over keeping academics and athletics separate. But there's quantifiable evidence that proves that strong athletics, particularly in the revenue sports like FB and BB, increase applications and financial donations to the school.

Problem #1 is that you could give this coach a ton of money and we’d still suck. That’s gotta be fixed first.

From there, money is important but we could do fine making a little go a long way. Especially in a few years when this finally gets legislation and controls around it n

I must be the only one who thinks Berg is going to see a decent amount of playing time? Sets the best screens for teammates and can hold position well around the basket. Has decent hands. Needs more playing time to gain more comfort and confidence. Just my opinion.

We don't need to 'break the bank. Purdue will be getting $80-$100 million in TV revenue this year. Campbell gets $4 million at ISU. We could pay Walters' buyout, pay Campbell's buyout and double his salary and we'd still be flush with cash.
I agree. Money is not, and should not be an issue for Purdue. The reality of today's coaching world is you have to pay to play. If you're not willing to pay, and hope to get lucky, you end up with what we have now.
