With all due respect, do you work in the finance dept of the athletic dept and have an intimate knowledge of where Purdue stands financially?I don’t think you will see any acc school make any commitment like that until the fsu lawsuit is over. Right now their tv contract ends in 2027, espn can extend in February 2025 through 2036. And their revenue lags $20m behind big ten which is expected to increase to as much as $40m-$60m over time. How do you find that money? It’ll take some time but if espn renews it might be the best thing for sec and big ten as the acc teams will fall off and create clear separation. Florida state and clemson can’t find buyout money I just don’t think people realize how hard it is to make up that kind of money. I mean on an 8 year deal that’s like $400m difference
"How do you find the money?"
The money is there, it just depends on what they want to spend it on. Do they want to commit to hiring a winner and pay market value of do they want to try and go low and hope to get lucky?
There are really smart financial minds that oversee the money at Purdue. If Nick Saban said "Pay me $10M a year and I'll come coach Purdue", he'd have a check in hand by lunch time today.
I'll ask again, where did iu magically find $72M for Cignetti?
