Coaching matters here. Conditioning matters here. Scheming matters here. Being sound in fundamentals can make up talent gaps when that talent isn’t as well coached as you.

We are an average talented team with abysmal coaching. Literally 0 adjustments over 24 games of this staff being here. I can’t believe I watched this shit. I KNEW we were doomed from that Fresno game on. We certainly haven’t gotten any better!
I think they adjusted, but due to a lack of talent or strength things didn’t work out. As an example the ends continued to crash down the line as the tackles kept getting abused most of the time. They sold out trying to stop the run as the backers and tackles were a problem. This just made everything else vulnerable as nothing was being stopped.

I believe you saw what happens when you rub a team's nose in the ground for 50+ years with your stupid phrases like POTFH. Indiana showed the exact same sportsmanship to Purdue tonight as Purdue fans have shown IU for decades. they didn't have to score that last TD. they could have easily taken a knee. But given a chance to rub Purdue's face in the ground, they went for it and made it.

I remember what made Joe Paterno a very respected coach. when he had a victory secured, he didn't try to run up the score. whether you were a Paterno or Penn st fan, you respected their team and players for their sportsmanship. You didn't try to humiliate or embarrass your opponent.

I was at the Ohi st / Michigan game today. I was saddened by the actions taken after the game. I'm saddened even more to realize this is becoming the expected norm of our athletes and our society.
But if you were a 14 yr old boy in the shower Old joe didn't give a damn about you.

Well I don’t know what to tell you. The talent is pretty bad. They can’t block, tackle, kick a field goal, fumble holding for the field goal attempt, drop passes, etc. Defensive line gets blown off the ball, sacks are far and few, linebackers are non existent, and cornerbacks can’t cover. That’s what I’ve seen anyway.
We r getting 3 star guys same as iu

Burgess

I think that’s a pretty good core. You really only need three players at the 4/5 if one of them (in this case TKR) is versatile enough to play either position. TKR and Heide are playing really well and are only getting better and I see a lot of potential in Jacobsen and Burgess.
I don't remotely agree. You need more than 3 because injuries and foul trouble is an actual thing.

Comparison

Umm, have you heard him speak? I wanted to like the guy, but his grammar is atrocious. He would not impress me if he was recruiting my son. And that’s just his communication skills. Never mind the failures on the field.
Was too nice to say it but from the day he was hired he has not said 1 intelligent or insightful thing in a press conference. Generic buzzwords without meaning or context. Just mostly coach speak babble and none of it with any meaning, thought or feeling about it.

Hides behind that with the fact that he clearly knows little about leading men. He fooled Bobinski and Grimes but he never fooled me. Not for a second.

His clueless, vacant look was no different second one when he walked into the football facility to take the job as it was giving up 66 tonight.

Walters Has Some Work To Do!

I doubt very much that Walters will be fired. If the Administration was serious about having a good football program they would have fired him already! Don't be surprised if he's around for the rest of his contract!
I’ll take the other side. This team was shut out 3 times and got destroyed by ND, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Indiana. I don’t think he will survive tonight losing 66 to zip.

The combined beatings Purdue took in its 2 biggest rivalry games this year.

1988 is the only comparable debacle in living memory. Purdue lost to ND and IU by identical 52-7 scores that year under Fred Akers.

By comparison, Purdue was remarkably competitive against both ND and Indiana during 1-win seasons in 2013 (31-24 v. ND; 56-36 v. IU) and 1993 (17-0 v. ND; 24-17 v. IU).
Worst team and coach in history. Walters will never be forgotten. Any player that can leave is gone. You saw the injury list and how team quit on the field.

Absolutely. They earned that. Purdue has proven time and again this year that they can’t compete even with the backups and third strings of teams that were blowing them out. My problem is with the Purdue team and coaches letting it be done to them. Need to bring in an experienced head coach who can rebuild this program up from rock bottom.
agreed. My issue is more that our players and coaches didn’t seem to have a problem with it. Game was over at 38 nothing. If they are still passing, start laying people out. Penalties don’t matter at that point the game was over. Show some pride, anger, offense… something, anything. But no, they just let it happen and then happily shook hands after getting 4 unnecessary tds scored on them.

As a football fan I get it, but as a player or coach I expect some fight.

5pm tomorrow and new coach is announced
I don't see it happening before Monday at the earliest. If PU doesn't pull out the checkbook for at least four million or more, plus at least three quarters of a million each for defensive and offensive coordinators, it's not worth it. It's time PU football FINALLY enters the real world with real talented hires. No more experiments and no more rec league coaches. Get a proven, experienced, and winning staff. And a lot of scholarships need to be revoked and not renewed for next year. Hire no one that isn't higher caliber.

And as I said with the Haze, and Walters, and yes even Brohm it's time for Purdue Alums to not be willing to settle. As for Bo, I'd help him pack his bags and put him in the passenger seat with Walters as they drive out of town.

I dont have a problem with what iu did today. What are they supposed to do. Backups want to compete and they did kneel on it at the end.
