I am going to double down and say that if Painter can keep the roster together, Purdue is a year away from a special season. Auburn was rough, but so was FDU a few years back. This is not a finished product.

If you go all in on the portal you are going to have to overspend precious resources and you are going to lose players and effectively rebuild. Now if Painter can supplement the roster with a Lance Jones type transfer, I have no issue with that.
No one is saying go all in on the portal

It doesn't have to be either extreme

There are good players in the portal that would fit here just fine each year. You don't need a million dollar player.

Dillon Theineman committed to Oregon

If it was because of a much better NIL money, can’t blame him. If it was about jumping to a winning program only, good riddance.
If you're going to fault one, you have to fault the other. And if you do that, then you fault the entire process as a whole. Guys are going to move for whatever reason that suits them now that this system is in place. Money, playing time, winning, getting closer to home, getting further from home, girlfriend/boyfriend, scenery, education (gasp!). This is a new world of college sports. I hate it, but to complain about it at this point is like the old man yelling at a cloud. Nobody is going to hear you. We just deal with having a 30-50% roster change every year and hope for the best.

I think everyone thought Myles and Cam would contribute more than they have so far and those two would be enough. I thought Caleb might be better up and down and being his senior year surprise us and yes I think most of us thought Berg would be more ready than he is. We thought the freshmen guards would allow some rest and help with ball handing as needed, but that has been pretty typical for many freshmen. Had only Myles and Cam contributed as many thought, Purdue would be much farther ahead and those losses may not have happened...certainly the first three would unlikely be three loses.
TKR is better than expected.
Braden and Fletch are what we expected.
Things haven’t clicked yet for Colvin or Heidi, and we need it to for at least 1 of them.
Cox Harris and Burgess are freshman and will have more downs than ups this year, like most freshman.

But.... Biden deported undocumented people at a faster rate than Trump (which I don't especially like, but whatever).
That is both true and highly misleading. Biden deported more because he allowed in four times as many illegals.

"While the raw numbers are much higher under Biden — 5 million encounters compared with 1.4 million under Trump in those time frames . . ."

So, what happens now in Bloomington

EVERY game will be fun, sold out, and electric for IU football. Both for pre-B1G warmups and for conference play.

And if you don’t care for the stadium? Good news! Tens of millions have been committed for stadium and facilities upgrades.
Sounds like iu is determined to have a football team the General Studies program can be proud of.

A domed stadium will be needed to stop the goose poop.

Sounds like you can't wait until the Old Dominion, Kennesaw State, and Indiana State pre-BTN tests at Goose Poop Stadium.

Reality such as getting a top 3,000 yd portal QB with 2 years of eligibility, 2 new starting RBs (one from the B10), TE from Wisconsin, and various productive WRs and DL to reload. Cig has been busy. I wish that Karloftis (sp?) had more speed. Seems like a player Cignetti would like.

Expecting some OL signings next. An I Association member told my son in South Bend that football NIL is exploding.

OK, now that evidence is out that he is undocumented, I accept that point.

But.... Biden deported undocumented people at a faster rate than Trump (which I don't especially like, but whatever). And crime rates by undocumented people tend to be lower than by U.S.-born citizens.

Quit with the virtue signaling. "undocumented".....give me a break. He's an illegal. By definition. He broke our immigration laws (several times to be here).

Does calling someone a radical muslim upset you to?

I think Furst decided long ago that basketball was not his future and is doing "just enough" to get by until he gets his degree .. and that is okay really. Yeah I know that impacts the team as a whole, but long term it likely is what is best for him. He still puts in an effort it would seem, just not enough to improve his basketball skills.

Is what it is at this point. But I agree, we have a weakish schedule coming up so play other people and build for next year and take our lumps this year.. but we grow as a team. Long term > short term.
Basketball, while still being important to him, is unlikely the main focus of his life. Getting in to medical school is no easy chore.

I think most on here are saying just that. There are a few that think we need 3-4 transfers, but I think the majority are looking for 1-2 impact transfers added to our current compliment. Of course, if we lose some guys to the portal, that is a different discussion.

True, but it hasn’t been every game. They have both had some excellent games. Most players struggle with inconsistency when they step into a major role. Look at Loyer last season. Even Ivey and Carsen Edwards had their ups and downs. Development often doesn’t appear linear and games like the Auburn can be an important learning experience. Heide and Colvin are both very talented players and I expect to see them emerge as the season goes on.
true each has up and downs, but would rather see that variation with more attempts because I believe there are MORE good looks than they take and so inside that variation I would like to see a larger number of attempts because I don't believe the variation is solely on how they are defended,

OT.....Merry Christmas Boilers

Merry Christmas!!

Long ago Jesus who existed at creation, was given by God through the Virgin Mary in a miraculous birth to then become a sacrifice for every Man.....through His birth, life, death and resurrection.

All we have to do to live forever with him are 3 things.....it's as simple as A, B ,C

A.....Admit you are a sinner and repent (turn away) from your sin.

B......Believe Jesus is the son of God and that he came to be a sacrifice for sin, once and for all

C.......Commit to Him as your savior by putting your trust in Him....and then live by His tenants in the Bible.

Don't have to clean up your life first. Come as you are. If you are willing it's simple.......say this prayer by Billy Graham...

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life".

And then follow Him.
Merry Christmas
Have a great Holiday and enjoy times with your friends and family

Colvin and Heide yikes

First there is no argument. There was a description in how "teamwork" and motion are affected more than say a dribble drive offense and how different players are better in one system than another. Relative to that is how a ref views each which favors one style over another. Many people in this forum like Matt as a coach, but have a disconnect in why he recruits the way he does and really want Matt to recruit like most other schools. I personally think Matt prefers a good low post player. I think Matt has a LOT of old school in him as his preferences. The 3 point shot has extended the D and if made gives 50% more than a 2...doesn't draw fouls and punish a team outside the extra point. Teams like that extra 50% if they can make them at a high rate and yes a lot of coaches prefer to run teams off the 3 ball...which leaves the mid range game (that is missing in many players...say Cam/Myles). and so the players have limited skill sets since there are fewer things involved in the game today. The reduction in a shot clock has an effect on all facets of the game and shifts the team to the individual in importance. Consequently you see many people wanting players that can "create" their own shot and so forth which is only necessary due to the clock...otherwise a "team" would screen and get what they want independent of the clock playing D for the most part. However, fans many times like the track meet. Still there is no argument, nobody has to like or agree with another on a public forum should there have been an argument...which there wasn't. It was a listing of co
You "think" CMP prefers a good low post player? What made you think that :)

All good TJ, you obviously prefer the pre-shot clock era and I don't. Nothing wrong with that.

Back to the original discussion, what has had a bigger impact on the game? Shot clock or 3 point? Just for a reference, I just went to YouTube and watched the 1st half of the 76 IU championship. Considered the best team of their era, of course pre shot clock and 3 point. What was striking was how compact the game was. It wasn't the pace, I didn't put a stop watch to it, but neither team was holding the ball. They were taking shots fairly quickly. What was obvious though was how much "smaller" the court was on offense because of no 3 point shot. Made for a completely different looking game.

Just my opinion, but I think the 3 point shot has had a much bigger influence on the change in the game than the shot clock has.
