Ohio State at Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Colvin and Heide have been disappointing this year because Painter doesn’t allow them the freedom to make plays . He is so consumed with Smith and Renn playing their 2 man game they forget about the rest. Saw it at the end of the game last night, it was so predictable Smith with his pocket pass to Renn. It’s the only thing he does. So before getting all over Colvin and Heide let’s look at Painter and his plays

No time to wallow

Yeah don’t understand why the quick turnaround for the west coast games but now there’s a week gap between Michigan and IU? IU has a lot of days off between the game before they come to Mackey.

Scheduling is weird haha
the whole damn thing about this scheduling and the amount of teams in the conference will be a large factor in determining the eventual champ

About west coast trips

This is something I said from the get-go. The revenue sport athletes get taken care of on the road with advisors and tutors and such. And the money is there. But like you said, this is horrendous for the non-revenue sports. An absolute joke.
it's like checking what's on BTN and you have a Rutgers - UCLA soccer game on and here's maybe 50 people in the stands

Purdue football Way-too-early depth chart: Defense

Continuing the look ahead at Purdue football following its portal endeavors during the winter period, Boiler Upload takes a glimpse into what the Boilermakers' defensive depth chart could look like heading into the first spring practice under new head coach Barry Odom.

"And will, to the best of my ability"

"Preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States of America."

Unless it's something to do with immigration of course.
I was an active duty US Army officer for 28 years. Here is the Oath of Office taken by all military members:

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Do you understand the word "domestic"? There are some woke assclowns who have been spreading childish lies that the Constitution prohibits using US troops within the US. It does not. Think about the Civil War for a couple of seconds.

There is nothing wrong with using US soldiers to protect our southern border from illegals. In fact, how would you prefer the 82nd Airborne spend its time: guarding our southern border or hanging around Fort Bragg playing war games and drinking beer?

About west coast trips

Our teams don’t even have the worst situation. How much sense does it make to send Maryland’s tennis team (random example of a non-revenue generating sport) on 6-hour flights to Washington? If being a student-athlete was inconvenient before, the huge geographical gap of our current conference must be detrimental to classroom continuity.

Or if they are going to do it, spread it out a week.. We have a week break between UM and Indinia (I think) .. that would be a good rotation for going out west. Both on fridays no less.

Yes - or........play Ohio State as the second game of the three home games NEXT week......wouldn't the compression be more logical when no travel involved?

But, wait a minute, what am I thinking - looking for logic.......we know what drives thi$$$$.......and that's part of the price all these schools pay in exchange for what has become a multi-billion dollar business enterprise.

Only 1.7 more per game on avg so far. But hope he gets his legs ready for Michigan. (I expect he will)
That's a bit of a flawed way to look at it. Yes, he averaged 34 minutes last year and is averaging 35.8 minutes this year. But prior to the foul trouble last night, he had averaged 38 minutes over his previous 10 games with 6 of those 10 being 39 minutes or more. That's a lot to ask a 21 year old, especially when you throw in the trips to both coasts in the last couple of weeks.

This offseason Purdue needs to bring in 1-2 portal kids, guessing a player or probably 2-3 leave out, even if they don’t Coach needs a big and maybe a back up PG for depth. This season has sort of been the Big 3 and occasionally a player or two stepping up, need more than that. Colvin and Heide have been disappointing so far this season.

haha bob our Constitutional expert! Pure comedy.

Someone else mentioned how many minutes Braden has played this year and expressed concern. I mentioned that Matt doesn't see it as an issue, but Braden looked like it caught up with him last night. Maybe that was just an off game for Braden that didn't relate to fatigue from playing a ton of minutes and coming off of the West Coast road trip, but I'd be surprised if that were the case.
