Why Trump Needs to Drain the Swamp

"Colored" years ago was a term of endearment attempt. Today many would say it isn't. If we follow the science, "white" is the absence of color and so someone not white logically, would have color. That is just science. As in many things, good intentions don't always translate to good outcomes. In the context of importance saying someone was colored is very insignificant...particularly when so many non-whites are killing each other.
Colored being a term of endearment to whom, you? During the dreaded Jim Crow years, colored was the term to describe black people. Since the 1960s, the term colored has been deemed derogatory. Since then in the order chronologically, Negro, black, and African American have been the terms to describe blacks in the US.

Why Trump Needs to Drain the Swamp

A lot of blacks did not want to be called black. As you know, there is still a lot of prejudice among the dark and light colors of blacks. Worse than that is the different shades of Indians. Many more blacks were enslaved by Muslims and taken to Asia than in the Americas.
I've witnessed in Mexico some Hispanics using make-up to lighten their skin color. And most of us know there is a belief of prejudice in some as increasing the skin color becomes darker for all races.

You seriously don’t think the money we spent on the tunnel could have been used better somewhere else ?

I am making fun of how awful the team is, its a joke. I am saying that we should spend the money to fill in the tunnel so this embarrassment of a team cant take the field.

But honestly I live in AZ, havent been back to Indiana in over 20 years. I watch every game, I root 100% for Purdue, but I dont follow the little things like stadium improvement. I do notice that Purdue fans do a much better job of supporting this awful team than when I was in college during the Colletto years.

If you want a discussion on how our money should be spent, i am not that guy, just dont have the knowledge, I know the sport inside and out though, just a bit detached from Indiana and West Lafayette. Grew up in Ohio, started Purdue in 1990, moved away in 2001. But it seems silly that the spent money on the tunnel sure, but I didnt know that until you mentioned it. I was being sarcastic that is all, not commenting negatively on your comment.

That was a nice diversion

I sure hope you’re right, TJ!
Said a lot of things and not sure of a particular you hope I'm right, but if I'm not, we still have the team we have. My biggest concern as always is stopping dribble (first) and pass (second) penetration into the lane. Getting better at that will help the defensive rebounding and ultimately lower the opposition FG% I believe...and lower their FT attempts. Most everyone knew the most potent offensive team and it appears that will be more in play. That said, rotations will be developed. Together, Cox and Harris should be able to handle the ball when Braden is out, but no doubt the offense will stagnate some without Braden. Course "if" a team is pressing hard there should be less of a need to run an offense enabling Harris and Cox to be more effective "IF" they don't turn it over. If the opposition is not pressing hard full or 3/4 court, then the potential issues remain. Half court pressure can still be a problem though. Still, Matt does not want the other team to make a run due to not having enough offense on the court and so the current five creates more questions about who is coming off the bench and when. I don't believe Matt wants the current five playing so many minutes as an attempt to reduce the sub times as he expects movement on O and D and fresher bodies.

The single best thing or pleasant surprise from the last game and a small amount against Marquette is Myles attacking the basket. IMO, that is HUGE! It will add a player to the list capable of getting inside the lane on his own, making it harder for Myles to be defended rather than the spot shooter he was last year. Kudos to him for his improvement!

I'm of the belief that turnovers are the result of your team on offense rather than the defense of the other team. Naturally, the opposition has a say on that and tries to make it difficult. Purdue still has choices and one is to NOT throw it to a teammate that has another defending him in passing lane...which Purdue did. The other correctable thing is to develop better timing in coming off screens as well as setting up or sealing the defender in a way that puts him a step behind you preventing him from blowing up the screen. Unfortunately the handoffs at the top of the key resulting from a hard, high hedge while not being as worried about a quick slip/roll from the 5 pushes Braden out farther due to him going as fast as he does fearful of getting an offensive foul into the D 5 man. If the screener becomes more and more a threat, they can't double and/or blow up that screen. Should or could we see more wings ball screening? Ultimately, I want to believe this team will improve and defensive pressure effectiveness will diminish.

Biden getting us into WW III before leaving office.

MAGA has nothing to do with this. We are talking about Biden's blunders to (1) start the war in Ukraine and (2) escalate it to the use of nuclear weapons.
I guess I'll post what you ignore. Less chance of you mischaracterizing what I'm saying.

China is the 21st century enemy and we have to demonstrate strength and resolve to counter them. You can't say we want to be America First while looking the other way when tyrannical despots invade sovereign countries. We will be sending the wrong signal to China at a time when we need to be showing resolve.

MAGA can't have it both ways. America First isolationism while attempting to check China's expansionist policies. They will see American withdrawal from the world stage as weakness.......something MAGA loves to accuse others of. Ukraine will be the first example.

We’re spending money, but it’s on stupid stuff like tunnels for our crummy team to run through.
That is the issue, if we didnt spend money on tunnels, then our awful football team wouldnt be able to make it to the game and stop the embarrassment for us alumni.

We should be spending money on filling those tunnels to prevent these games from happening.

Names to consider for our next football coach?

I agree Hud. For the past couple weeks I've been trying to recall a situation where a coach was retained but his entire staff was fired...... So when does a head coach get a mulligan for hiring the wrong staff????
I believe they all will be let go.
Who wants to walk into a job knowing they will be used as a scapegoat by coach who can’t coach.

Names to consider for our next football coach?

Could be 1000% wrong but I’d imagine we lose 10-15k in current season ticket sales. Some probably offset by a few newbies, some offset by cheap package sales to opposing fans. Call it 12k in attendance we fall short in next year. That’s 84k unsold seats at say an average of $50 a pop. That’s $4.2million just in tickets. Tickets that don’t get an associated donation, concessions or parking fee. Call that another $2-3mil in lost revenue.

At that point the lost revenue pays for Walters buyout and a decent increase to the next coach.

Doesn’t take a business master to know that keeping Walters hurts the wallet next year.

But agree…they want a new AD and to have the new one hire the coach just like they did with Mbob. Making a “business” decision here but not really protecting the business…just some guys arbitrary timeline to leave.
The dream scenario is we hire away an AD AND his Head Football Coach.

First of all what does your response have to do with the topic at hand?

As far as being called black. It’s not about wanting to be called black. It’s just a matter of preference. I prefer black. But back in the 80’s Rev. Jesse Jackson and others suggested we call ourselves African Americans because due to slavery in the US, most blacks in America did not know of or have an identity to a specific country of origin like their white or Hispanic counterparts. We just knew we were from the continent of Africa.

Yes, there is some prejudice among some light and darker skinned blacks. The Latino/Hispanic community here in the US and within their country of origin has this issue as well. This is known as colorism. In either case it is all due to the white supremacists in the US decades and decades ago imposing the aforementioned cultural conditioning that whites are superior.

As far as the Muslims, if that is true or not that they enslaved more blacks. Assuming that it’s true, what happened to all of the African decedents that should be still in Asia. So, what is your point? These same Muslims also enslaved a lot of white Europeans.

Abandoning Ukraine and rewarding Russian aggression, while adhering to the MAGA doctrine of America first, also goes against what MAGA claims to believe in in........don't show weakness.
MAGA has nothing to do with this. We are talking about Biden's blunders to (1) start the war in Ukraine and (2) escalate it to the use of nuclear weapons.
