Great loss

Agree with most of the comments but think it would have been a much different game if we attacked the press to score.
Marquette's strategy was to force Purdue to use clock prior to reaching half court. This resulted in them playing aggressive half court D for a shorter period of time. We could have had numerous 3 on 2 opportunities by breaking the press with longer passes instead of relying on Braden to essentially bring the ball up himself.
Agree. This put Braden and/or our offense in a tough position. We had some late clock shots and that isn't our norm.

Berg is slow, I’ve been saying that since watching him in mop up time last year. He’s fine against slower/lower level competition, against good/quick team he’s a no go, maybe 5 minutes a game. I think Purdue’s best team will be a small one with TKR playing the 5.
yea, after watching those videos of him shooting on a practice court, I was expecting a 6 pt/ 5 rb ave this yr from him, guess not so far

Linda McMahon: So being co-CEO of a wrastling federation qualifies you for Secretary of Education

She did one hell of a job in President Trump's last administration heading up Small Business. Lots of black entrepreneurs sure were better off with her help. Smart woman with balls bigger than her old mans.
What does that have anyrhing to do with heading the Dept of Education? Perhaps Commerse secretary would have been a better fit.

Just for fun....had Painter used the portal..

Since Painter was one of the few schools not to use the portal this year, IF he had used the portal, what should he have tried to get?
A more athletic big than what we have? Another G who can handle the ball/shoo? A big guard/small forward who can penetrate and score inside?
just off hand w/o doing any research, I think that big from Yale ( Wolf ) would have been a good add

Linda McMahon: So being co-CEO of a wrastling federation qualifies you for Secretary of Education

No, I don't know that because it's freaking ridiculous. No more so than it is for the SecDef like you said the other day in the conversation about Hegseth and his lack of experience managing in large organizations. I guess this some new BS excuse you are trying push to make these people sound qualified. Experience is overrated right?

The DOJ has a justice manual that lays out DOJ policy. Of course the AG doesn't try cases. He does decide which cases get prosecuted in some instances and others are because its policy.
Deciding which cases get tried is policy, as is deciding which cases the feds bring against a political opponent like Trump. Withholding the Hur tape to protect Biden was policy. Sending a SWAT team to arrest a Christian minister was policy. These are just a few disgusting examples of a DA you are saying was highly qualified .

He also advises the executive branch and congress. He knows the law inside and out thanks to his years of experience trying cases, in addition to his many years as a JUDGE. I'm not even gonna look this up but I guarantee past AGs have been a judge, state AG, federal prosecutor, deputy or assistant AG, US attorney or deputy attorney. Gaetz has barely been a practicing attorney in private practice.

> Garland also enabled a coverup by the FBI of its role in Jan. 6.

As for Hegseth, you said something to the effect of people managing large companies just set policy and let lower management take it from there.
CEOs, CFOs, COOs and CMOs everywhere are laughing. Hell, Pete doesn't even have management experience in positions in lower positions than those. How about a VP of operations or Executive Director of SOMETHING.
I posted a link to bni about the hundreds of billions in lost inventory by DoD. Are you saying this was Austin's fault despite his great experience managing in large organizations?

The people you claim have been highly qualified have proven to be incompetent and/or corrupt, so I ask you and bni again, what are the qualifications for these jobs given the recent evidence?

As much as I dont want to talk about Indiana....

They got rid of the Louisville game because no one expected to be in this kind of situation. Tom Allen was still around. Indiana was just searching for 6 wins somewhere and playing Louisville wasn't helping that. And even going into this season had UCLA, Northwestern, Maryland, Michigan, Washington who were all 8 win and better teams last year.
I understand why they did it. Nobody can fault them for their big ten schedule. That's out of their control. They have handled teams. The stars have aligned for them.

But still was an opportunity that might have changed this whole deal.

As much as I dont want to talk about Indiana....

It appears as if 80% of the teams scheduled to play in the playoffs had a powder puff non conference schedule. Who did Texas play? Or Alabama? Or OSU or Penn st or IU. Or BYU?

It appears IU followed the same path that all of the other teams projected to play in the playoffs followed.

Should IU be criticized any more than Alabama or OSu for scheduling cream puffs?
IU has been playing a cream puff per BT schedule since the 1990s. This is nothing new for them.

Linda McMahon: So being co-CEO of a wrastling federation qualifies you for Secretary of Education

It's called diversity. The lack of diversity does not respresent the diverseness of America. However, she is a woman. Perhaps Chump was trying to check that box. And that's kinda my other point I'm making. I have yet to hear you guys say that the white woman that Chump has selected are DEI hires. But when a black woman gets selected for something, its automatically a DEI hire.

Chump selected a white woman as press secretary. Not one of you mentioned if she was a DEI hire. But when Biden chose a black woman as his press secretary, she was a DEI hire according to y'all. White women have benefited from affirmative action more than any group, but that's ok apparently.

You tell me, is Linda McMahon qualified to be Secretary of Education?
Biden's hire was totally a DEI hire in two ways. Lesbian/Female. And Trump had male and female Press folks.

Linda McMahon: So being co-CEO of a wrastling federation qualifies you for Secretary of Education

The main gist of the post was to point the ridiculousness of the selection pick. However, as non-qualified as McMahon appears to be, there are a lot folks more qualified that should have been selected including black educators. The woman is not even an educator in any form.

This thread is reserved for bni to gripe about Matt Gaetz

Playing the whataboutism game here.
Oklahoma is 49th in education and their state school superintendent just purchased 500 bibles to be put in every classroom. Do you think that's the best way to spend his time and the taxpayer's money considering the performance of his schools?

He also tried to require every student to watch a video of him praying for trump and trashing teacher unions. Didn't work out too well. Neither did his blatant attempt to get the education secretary position.

wtf. A very astute move to nominate a guy who his hated by many in his party and who was about to be nailed by a House report into his alleged activities with a minor. Then have him withdraw.
Please explain the 4D chess move. This should be good.
So you believe the Bible is a bad book to have available to children Bob? Am I correct in that assumption?

Great loss

We have a very young team. It is going to take a little while to gel. We are going to have nights where we could beat anyone in the country and have nights where we are going to struggle against an inferior opponent.

We are weak at the 5 obviously with the loss of Jacobsen. Berg can body with opponents, but he is going to get into foul trouble with more athletic bigs, since he can be slow to recover. Burgess needs a lot more experience. TKR can play the 5, but he would be better in an ideal world at the 4.

This team lost a lot of experience and talent with Gillis, Jones and Edey gone. Yes, Smith and Loyer are upperclassman now, but this is a different team. We are going to be ok. There are going to be nights like Marquette during this season, but I think the guys will come together as the season goes on.

As much as I dont want to talk about Indiana....

According to ESPN....

Texas 38th
Alabama 16th
OSU 28th
PSU 35th
BYU 53rd
IU 103rd

So let's quit pretending that IU's schedule has been close to any of the others. We will see what happens to this metric with the OSU game. Would also be interesting what it would look like if they hadn't bought out the Louisville game they probably had on the schedule.
ESPN is not necessarily the most accurate ranking service. Sagarin has IU at 77. Team Rankings has them at 62. Adding OSU to that calculation should help it considerably.

But, if you like to use ESPN's model, ESPN has IU as having a 96% chance of making the playoffs, second highest only to Oregon. That percentage incorporates IU as a two td underdog at OSU and a favorite at home against Purdue to most likely finish 11-1.
