Colvin and Heide yikes

They both looked like deer in headlights last night on both sides of the ball.

Colvin: uh, guess I'll shoot (?)

Cam giving up baseline to Garcia was so bad, such an easy fix, one that is taught at the 2nd grade level. He was just topsy turvy on D all night, just looked perpetually confused.
Completely disagree. They couldn’t shoot to save their lives but rebounded and played defense fairly well.

Your take on giving up the baseline to Garcia is right at the 2nd grade level, but the game plan all night was to hedge to the middle and bring help on the baseline. It’s possible that Cam made the wrong assumption in thinking he’d have baseline help on that play, but he played it the way they’d been playing it all night.

Toledo at Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

This opinion is somewhat popular but flawed imo.
I think Zach was such a good shot blocker (SO long and goes STRAIGHT UP!!!) that teams stopped challenging him.
Kind of the ultimate compliment if you think about it.
Did not have huge block numbers because they just didn't try very much.
There's a few I'll never forget.

Yes, Purdue fans know this. But it was funny when non Purdue fans/watchers would say “he’s 7’4, why doesn’t he have more blocks?! He must not be very good at rim protection/athletic” 😂

Purdue at Minnesota: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Agree, which makes what Illinois did all the more impressive - Fighting Illini hung 64 of its 109 in the second half @ Oregon.

Combes and Fighter of the Nightman have to be smiling today.....

Gotta hand it to the Illinois coach. He seems to be a master at bringing in the right players.....portal or recruiting. Then after getting them to IL, putting the pieces together and making very good teams out of his pieces. Yet to see a great team, maybe this one is it??

Big Ten

The funny thing is that Indiana is 14-12 against Illinois over the past 15 seasons and 10-6 over the past 10.
And how many of those wins came during the historically bad Groce years and the two seasons it took Underwood to dig out of that? Shit’s ancient history and irrelevant, pal. Illinois and Purdue are much healthier programs than Indiana and have been for 5+ years now. Your “brand” died a long time ago.

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

Grasping??

Dude, you are here and defending 2 losses to the ranked opponents you played.

Georgia down 20-10 in the 3rd with 9:36 to play.
IU down 27-3 in the 4th with 4:50 to play.

You really can't compare the 2......just stop.
It was 20-10. It was also 20-3. Notre Dame still dominated Georgia and it happened in the same way they did Indiana. By controlling the line of scrimmage. Georgias offensive line was overpowered just like Indiana's. It has actually been theme in games all playoff. Penn State vs SMU and Boise State. Ohio State vs Tennessee and Oregon. That's been the difference in all of those games. Shows the importance of a great offensive line.

Purdue at Minnesota: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

That 2nd half might have been our best offensive half of the year. Everything was clicking.. Even if it was vs MN, it was still a 53 PT half on the road in the B10....no small feat.

an ongoing theme I'm afraid.
Maybe they can settle down now on the 2nd squad, being more of a focus on offense. ??

Happy New Year. The “area for improvement” on defense is due to being Zach-less. Although Zach was not a big time shot blocker, he prevented a lot of shots from being taken near the rim once opponents blew by Purdue’s perimeter/ wing defenders. Of course he made Purdue’s rebounding a strength.
This opinion is somewhat popular but flawed imo.

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

Only IU and SMU got "garbage touchdowns?" Damn you're grasping at any straw you can find.
  • How many garbage touchdowns did Oregon get when they were down 34-0 in the second half?
  • Was Georgia's only touchdown a second half garbage touchdown? They were down by 17 at the time. They never got within one score thereafter.
  • Tennessee garbage touchdown? They scored to turn a 42-10 deficit into a 42-17 loss.
  • As you said, SMU's only touchdown turned a 38-3 game into a 38-10 loss.
At least IU's last touchdown, with under a minute left, gave IU a chance at a two point conversion + onside kick recovery to get the ball to tie. They didn't get the conversion, but IU's 1-5% chance of tying the game in the last minute was (slightly) better than Oregon, Tennessee, SMU, or Georgia's 0% chance.

Yet IU is the team that was more outmatched than others? Nope.

PS: I know that Purdue is a science-based, not literature oriented school, but you spelled INDIANA wrong again. Almost like some Chinese factory worker would by mistake. Do you live in Indiana? If so, you're gong to have trouble with mail/package deliveries if you cannot even figure out how to spell the name of the state you live in.

How about the game plan??? They went away from the run early and never went back to it. This is on Bobo to me and he fell right into the trap. They put a ton of pressure on a QB that hasn't been in this situation before.....shameful.

Time of possession and 2 fumbles cost this team and the D to be on the field a lot.
Absolutely. A team and staff loss for Georgia for sure.

If it was a star-ranking/talent collection contest the SEC and Ohio State would win every game. Thank goodness for the other teams that isn't necessarily how it works out on the field.

Interesting that his coach and pretty much every media report blamed dropped passes and bad special teams and o-line play as the main reasons Georgia lost. The Georgia QB was 20-32 with a touchdown, no interceptions, and a fumble on a blind-side hit.

From the CBS Sports game article:

"The Bulldogs don't have a quarterback problem. Gunner Stockton was an absolute gamer in the face of intense pressure — both because of the venue, circumstances and because of Notre Dame's furious pass rush. The offensive line, as it has this season, struggled to open holes for running backs and were leaky against another defensive front.

Meanwhile, the defense was pushed around up front and gave up too many chunk plays in big situations. That's not necessarily a killer, especially in a game in which the defense only gave up 16 points.

No, the biggest issue for Georgia is at receiver. The Bulldogs' receiving corps has dropped at least 36 passes during the 2024 season, including a massive drop on a would-be touchdown by Dillon Bell in the third quarter, according to ESPN's research. That is unacceptable for any championship-chasing team, and it's a big reason why the Bulldogs trailed at halftime in seven games this season — and lost three."

Well we did fire our coach. I guess that makes you puff out your chest when you beat a team with only 1 victory? IU looked like shit against ND. ND beat Georgia but that was with a quarterback that had never started a game for them. Crow again. IU still sucks. You know it and we know it. Hell the entire college world knows it. Piss and moan at them. We know that you brought in an entirely new team, played a wuss schedule, got your asses handed to you by ND and all you can do is cry for validation. Go watch your newly paid for Bball team and crow about their victory over Rutgers.
And IU played against Notre Dame with a quarterback playing on an unrepaired torn ACL. Teams deal with this kind of stuff the best they can. Hard to believe you and others are now making excuses like that for why ND was able to beat Georgia.

IU is your rival but had a great year. The entire college knows that IU football sucked? The whole college footbal world, both media and coaches, thought IU was deserving of their coach getting national coach of the year. The nation-wide selection committee thought the team was worthy of being in College Football Playoffs.

It would be like an IU fan disparaging Purdue's Final Four run with Edey. Yes, UConn was better. But Purdue had an incredible year and earned what and where they got. Full stop. It would take some ridiculous mental gymnastics to think otherwise, and I sure don't think otherwise. Same goes for this year's IU Football team.

Yeah they think those garbage touchdowns they got mean something... ND essentially made Indinia look like a JV squad until they let up the gas. And as much as I hate ND, giving them any sort of "kudos" is painful to say the least :)......... but it's fact, Indinia like SMU just didn't belong and both of those teams getting throttled proved it.

But trying to explain that to a guy with at least 3 IDs on here is just futile. He can't even count to 10 for crying out loud.

66 to 0 which means Purdue sucks to be on that PUD schedule.

I bet your one proud puppy! Illinois has only 1 BT title in that stretch. IUs problem has been teams like Nebraska(who just torches IU), Northwestern, Penn St, and Rutgers have played WHACK-O-Mole with ya! No need to talk about the Purdue vs IU series. Purdue has won 4 of the last 8, and Michigan St has 3 in the last 10 years!

Maybe you watched a different game, I saw him overthrow his receivers some and his fumble at the end of the first half was not great.
