Tom reporting Walters likely to return…

On Twitter “per multiple sources”…

My guess is Tom, or his source in the AD's office, is the source. It's the same thing he's been saying for a month. And it's likely not coming from Bobinski, who has kept information pretty limited in the past. No one had a clue Walters was going to be our coach when he was hired.

Secondly, when was the last time Tom was right? Two years ago he had a list of head coach candidates that were about as realistic as Purdue making the playoffs.

Just for fun....had Painter used the portal..

Neither played much defense, at least not consistently. I'm not sure either were big 'detail' guys. Painter gave both a lot of leeway.

On the flip side, both had incredible work ethics. Probably better to say that they were unconventional fits for Purdue.
I guess I get what you mean but not sure I fully agree (and not sayin you’re wrong). Both weren’t ranked that high (not that it matters) and not offered by the high major players (tbh can’t 100% remember) but painter found their talent. Both had chips on their shoulder. I think one could argue Myles wasn’t that type then either…didn’t play much defense in HS…but thankfully has now bought in.

Why I don’t think Walters 100% gets fired and why that’s a good thing

He deserves to be fired. There is no excuse for his performance

However Purdue is not an attractive job. It’s a bottom feeder for NIL. That’s just a fact. That doesn’t make Walters good for anyone who has a reading disorder.

Revenue sharing is not finalized. But it will be. Once that happens Purdues TV deal becomes highly relevant from a roster perspective. Right now it’s only relevant for funding the AD. That immediately makes Purdue more attractive than most jobs outside of the big ten and SEC. Is it more attractive than SMU? probably still a no. But they have big time oil money.

So, would you rather make the hire from a very so so group of coaches? Or would you rather wait a year and make the hire when really good coaches want to be your coach?

All that said, again, in case you have a mental disorder, if they fire him at 11:30 I’ll be fine.

No coach is going to wait a year and hope a Big Ten job is coming open again. Especially for a coach that doesn't have the resume to be hired by Nebraska or Wisconsin.

The Purdue gig is going to be desirable because they already know what's coming. And Purdue has $20MM to $40MM more reasons why it's going to be better than an ACC or Big12 job.

Thought we'd at least be hearing rumors by now

Might I also suggest to not fall over yourself to give them your time and money back when they do finally decide to go in another direction. Even if/when they hire a good coach. They do not care about your experience or you as a person and there will always be other solid options for your time and money each fall.

They are banking on x percent of fans backing them no matter what and y percent of fans to be highly forgiving and back whenever forced to make a change. Both x and y obviously need to be lower.
Yeah, we’ll see. I’m hoping there’s a larger strategy here that becomes clearer at some point…

My bodacious choice to replace Walters as football coach . . .

My choice to replace Walters as football coach is Coach Prime of Colorado. He currently makes $6 million/yr (average). We should hire him away from Colorado for a 50% increase, approximately $9million/yr, and also pay his buyout at Colorado.

Coach Prime is the best in the nation at what Purdue is the worst in the nation: working the portal. We need to pay what it takes to turn this program around and we’ll have the TV money to do it with the new Big Ten TV contract.

Here are Sanders' salary and buyout details (copied and pasted from Brian Howell on X):

Deion Sanders’ deal with Colorado is 5 years, $29.5 million – an average of $5.9M/year. He’ll make $5.5M in the first year, with raises of $200K every year. Up to now, the $3.6M paid to Karl Dorrell this year was the most CU has paid to a head coach.

Sanders would owe CU $15M if he leaves in the first year, $10M if he leaves in the 2nd year, $8M in the third year and $5M if he leaves after that. If Colorado fires Sanders at any point without cause, the school would owe him 75% of his remaining contract.

Tom reporting Walters likely to return…

I don’t understand the move to keep Walters at all. Nothing personal against the guy. Some say its the assistants..walters brought them in. Some say its the players...walters brought a good portion of them in too. Keeping Card out there when the offense is scoring 3pts a half...yup thats Walters too.

Hell even Walters must be surprised he hasn't been fired by this point.

Biden getting us into WW III before leaving office.

Good point.

A concern I have is what happens if one or more of our dozens of Euro military bases is hit in a tactical nuke attack. If our senile president finds out about it, will he escalate - or will his puppet masters in the Mil-Industrial complex escalate?

If a recent Gallup poll is correct that a majority of Ukrainians want a quick negotiated end to the war, even if it means giving up territory, why is our idiot president escalating if not at the orders of the war industry?

Do we know where all the money went? Sometimes following the money trail helps...but is there a trail?

Nice win today against UT Arlington.

Good win today for the Ladies. They beat Shereka Wright's UT Arlington team 73-55.

Double-doubles for both Reagan Bass (14pts 10rebs) and Destini Lombard (13pts 13rebs). Lana McCarthy scored 18 with 5 rebs in only 16 minutes (foul trouble). Kendall Puryear added 10 with 4rebs.

Purdue dominated the boards 48-33. Turnovers are still a big concern. Purdue had 16 but at least they forced 16. Outside shooting is becoming a concern especially the 3 point shooting. We really don't have anyone that I feel confident about shooting from there. Sophie is supposed to be the shooter but in most games she has struggled. She was 1 for 7 today from three. Maybe getting McKenna Layden and Jordyn Poole back will help from deep.
I thought the post game interview with Shereka Wright quite good. She was very appreciative of her time at Purdue and had many nice things to say about Purdue and the administration.

That was a nice diversion

I hate to oversimplify, but if this Purdue team can manage to keep turnovers low and not get outrebounded, they can really win any game. Offense should really be able to score to keep the Boilers in any game regardless how the defense is performing. I feel that defense will continue to get better with this coaching staff and with the learning curve of the newer players.
There in is the 'work needed', still need to pick up the pace against pressure, drive to the basket !, stop playing half court dribble and pass .

Just for fun....had Painter used the portal..

Great point, I agree 100%. You could say the same with Carsen Edwards. The juice has to be worth the squeeze. I don't think Coleman is a bad player or a bad kid, but he's not a great fit and isn't in the same stratosphere as JI or Carsen as a player. Add to that the fact that he's a one-year guy at a time when MP is clearly looking to build towards next year and it wouldn't have made sense.
How did Carsen and Ivey not fit?
