Names to consider for our next football coach?

iu is better than wisky and Iowa, they took advantage o f their schedule like we did when we got to the BIG10 Champ game
But you went…. Can’t take it away and you had a chance to compete. Big10 is no longer beholden to OSU and Mich only. They have to be more pure in their decisions and not show out right favoritism. They still are the big guys on the block but there are new families in the neighborhood that must be accounted for… I’m hoping the officiating improves from week to week.

Well you can only play those on the schedule. It did help us obviously. But I look at the bigger picture, and that reflects a change in IU’s football program for the good. Is it long lasting? Well that remains to be seen. If you want money for your other sports, which I think they are finally embracing, you can’t ignore the giant pile of concrete next to mecca…. I think most IU fans just want to be competitive instead of a perennial doormat
your last sentence says it all, don't want to be a doormat. Now I don't care for Fleck's antics all the time, but he's done a great job at traditionally lower to middling program in BIG10, almost every year has them hitting their ceiling along w/ some so so seasons but always competitive, that's what I want see, we'll never be up w/ the big boys every year

Keep an eye out for Monday too. There could be an announcement from the BoT. If Walters is fired, I don't see how the AD leadership (Bobinski and Grimes) survive this. They hired Walters and let this program collapse; this is on their watch. To think where the FB program was just 2 short years ago to where it is now. And the trajectory for next year shows no promise of any measurable improvement with the current leadership. Players are decommitting and fans are cancelling next year's tickets.

To look at the condition of the FB program now (i.e.: its coaching staff, roster, incoming recruits, etc.), it is almost like it is the first season following a Death Penalty. It was a self-induced Death Penalty but from the AD leadership.

It is time for a change in leadership for the Athletic Department. New vision, new priorities, new goals, new accountabilities. This is not acceptable. It goes beyond Walters.
Anyone here feel like running the numbers in terms of the financial impact of him not getting fired?
What would that mean from the number of season tickets sold for next year:
Concessions, parking, merch, decrease in donor support, etc.
It could be in the 10s of millions, which is a fireable offense for Mbob and Grimes.

Why is he still employed?

Maybe the firings happen after church.

Just kidding. I suspect Walters stays. At this point he has to know how hopeless his future is at Purdue. Sure, he can put on a stoic face and get to work "fixing it," but it will be more of the same next year. No coach or player with any credibility or prospects is coming anywhere near this catastrophe. It'll be a struggle to get 40k into Ross-Ade.

Another year of this could legitimately kill his career. At least he'll have his $9 million.

Day wouldn't be canned until a loss in the CFP. I guess there's a chance they don't make the CFP, but I believe that comes out 12/8. Either way, there's no chance in hell Day is coming here.
OSU is in the Playoffs even after that UGLY loss yesterday. They played 3 top five opponents this year which the Committee looks at favorably.

OSU is the closest thing to a Jeckll-Hyde team this year. One day they look unbeatable, the next time out look like garbage which traces back to their worthless HC - Ryan Cooper

Hoping for the best ...hoping we are moving on from this nightmare! If he gone, they would be announcing it sometime today! If not we're all ##_&-+-!!!

The point is there is a limit and you have no idea what it is. Your answers are not serious when you claim whatever it takes.
You don't know what the limit is either. But, what we do know is that the requirement to get a competent, proven HC is somewhere between $6-10M.
Again, if iu, one of the worst programs in history is committing $72M, then where does that put Purdue?

Another sign DEI is dead

Retail mega giant WALMART becomes the latest in a long list of companies to ditch DEI. Want to Focus on customer as the top priority....duhhh.

Some here slow to the table and a long way around the barn still think DEI is of value. But folks it's dying and where it's not, they are planning the funeral......Good riddance.

You know what's funny is my company still has these million dollar DEI salaries for people to check a box and offer nothing, but let hundreds of "worker bees" go. Do you think the Chief DEI Officer is stepping in to pick up the slack?

Why is he still employed?

Worth means it at least pays for itself.

So yes there is a limit to what you can spend for it to be worth it.

So no, the answer isn't whatever it costs. These are not serious answers.
So, worth is defined as break even?
Is that how you make your financial investments?
With the new TV deal, every B10 school will be getting a $30M+ annual influx of cash. Committing a significant portion of that money towards a winning football with give an ROI significantly greater than the cost.
And yes, those were serious answers because Purdue is not dropping football.

We're Going To Lose Key Players

Mock has 2500 career rushing yards. There are probably other players on the roster who can be productive with better coaching.
Never been a big fan of Mock. Plays hard, gives his all, but still fumbles way too often, doesn't have a second gear, no homerun ability. Do any other B10 schools have a former walkon as their starting RB? Probably few other B10 teams he'd start for.

Why is he still employed?

How much is it worth? 72 million? 100 million? Whatever it costs?

You don't have any hard data to support that claim.
Define worth.
And yes, it is whatever it costs. These guys that make 4-6-8-10 million a year and the guys deciding whether that contract is a good investment don't live in the same world 99.9% of us do.
You may say "no person coaching a sport is worth $10 million a year", but how do you know?
Is any baseball player worth a $350 million contract? Those exist now also.

Yes…. And it usually doesn’t matter 😂😂😂… we were capable of losing games we should win. That said, it was stacked against us in the East/West setup. 4 losses built in every season under that setup. We were the chum for that division.
