Purdue Ladies played basketball last night?

I absolutely hate when Coaches say the other team - who is a mid major underdog - played like it "was their super bowl" - when their team struggles to beat them by committing 25 turnovers against a MAC team. Anddddd that is precisely what KG said last night after the game to somehow excuse our continued bad play. Turnovers will absolutely kill us against most if not all big ten teams and having a coach continue to make excuses for this play will not fix that.

Josh Hansen is OC

After reading up on Henson I’ll say it’s a safe solid hire. The guy has 25yrs of coaching experience at pretty big programs so hopefully that helps. I don’t know what kind of offense he will bring to Purdue but maybe Odom knows something us fans don’t 🤷🏼‍♂️.

USC fans are upset that Lincoln Riley isn’t winning more games and the transfer portal is hitting them in the face so they start to play the blame game and thats when Hensons name gets thrown in there for not being a good OLine coach. A lot of fans say it’s not his fault and the other half say the O Line is horrible blah blah so you got to take fans opinions with a grain of salt.

Does CMP go after another .......

As I said originally, I support whatever approach CMP chooses. In my mind he has earned that trust from this fanbase.

That said, when the freshmen aren't ready to perform and you don't have anyone else on the roster ready, then there are legitimate questions that come up. He chose not to go into the portal, fine. But that means he thought these freshmen gave us a better chance than anyone he could get in the portal. That may very well be true, but you can't use the excuse "they are freshmen, what do you expect". That is an argument you could always use "pre portal". But now that there is a resource that is legal to get more experienced players immediately, you can't use that any longer. Either your young players are ready, or you get more experienced ones from the portal.

I don't believe anyone (I'm certainly not) says that going to the portal is any guarantee of success. There are no guarantees or else we could all make millions coaching! But going into the portal for sure gives you a chance to get someone that has already proven they can do what you need at the D1 level. Unlike a freshmen right out of HS.
Agreed with what you are saying. However, if he does hit the portal then we don’t get 1-2 or maybe even 3 of the Frosh since we were maxed out in scholarships (upcoming year expands from 13-15). So it’s a trade off, right? Paint may have thought DJ/Berg would be fine at the 5 and DJ very well could have been but injuries happen. It looks to have been a bit of a “gamble” on painters side and unfortunately, an injury happened and put us in a tough spot and so far, it does not look like the other 5s can provide the support we need to be fully successful (hopefully one breaks away or all 3 together for what we need).

The govt also just recently admitted that the Wuhan red death plague (Covid) was created and released by a Chinese lab? They denied that accusation for a really long time, including Fauci (who should be punished harshly).
You know I proposed that within a day of it being known. Another poster who never posts here stated it was the wet market since that was the first media proposal as though it were a fact. Strong suspicions should have been held when China refused for the USA to send people to audit some things if I recall correctly.

Yeah, I agree it’s not had the same “grab” for me this year for some reason. Probably a combo of poor to mediocre play, lots of new faces, returnees either injured or not “firing” (eg, Swanson), and touted players (Jones, Poole, A. Reynolds) struggling or not playing due to injury.
Will say that Jones seems to be coming around, and the 2 freshman bigs are okay so far.
Got to hope/assume this is a rebuilding year and that we’ll see significant improvement next year. I guess Lombard is a bright spot.
I’m much more invested in VB right now, but after the seismic news of portal entries, I’m like… depressed.

It makes sense, but if you don't recruit freshmen and the player paid to come to Purdue don't perform as expected then it will always be that Matt should have taken this player instead. Also, because we see a person in a different system doesn't mean it will be replicated at Purdue. The high school freshmen becomes a sophomore the next year and the transfer may be out the door the next year. As you alluded there is no 100% fix in play, but fans will always give too much credit to a coach when the team wins and too much blame when he doesn't. I do think a single transfer...maybe two at the most could make sense, but there is no guarantee unless paying millions they work out and even then they may not have the heart.
Agree completely that there is no guarantee. If there were, everyone on here could get rich coaching!

My point in this thread was addressing those that were saying "they are just freshmen" or "you can't expect that much from them, they are young". Those are things that could be said before the portal. Not now.

Why would a guy need to be the 4-6 option? Why not bring a guy in who can be the #1 option? If you're going to use the portal and NIL, use it to improve over what you've got.
Cuz Paint hasn’t done that. Maybe he can goin forward but as TJReese has said in another post, Purdue runs a TON of sets and it’s sometimes tough to pick up right away. Paint typically focuses the offense around 1-3 guys and he seems set on the big 3 we have right now…so if that holds true, that’s why I continue to say 4-6th option.

I get what you are saying, but they still are freshmen and there almost always is a learning curve with freshmen. No approach is perfect and Painter’s approach does not involve many quick fixes. There will be rebuilding years. That’s ok. Compare Purdue’s overall success in the last decade to the rest of the Big Ten and you can see that Purdue is far more consistent than the programs with a lot of roster turnover. I would say that IU fans have their own set of complaints.

Issues

He did it because the defense was slow in rotating over and the lane was wide open. Exciting play, yes, but he didn't break anyone down with his ball handling ability.

Watch him, Colvin and Loyer vs Auburn. Granted, Auburn is really good, but you'll see how physical man D will neutralize those 3 and what they want to do (which is hang around the 3 pt line and shoot jumpers). Smith is going to be harassed all the way up the court and we won't get into our offense until 10-11 sec left in the shot clock.

I hope I'm wrong and will happily eat crow if I am, but Auburn is a bad match up.
Fair enough. It was tough to see completely where I was sitting at the game. But even if they were slow to rotate, he still should take advantage of that more. And I understand what you mean now by having in their “bag”…that’s what the young kids say these days 😉.

And agree with Auburn being a bad matchup, but that’s why paint schedules these tough ones in non conference cuz we more than likely don’t see this type of team (from top to bottom and strategy wise) in the B1G. With Broome POTENTIALLY out on Saturday, we MAY have more of a chance, but still going to be very tough.

Something’s gotta change and hope we see whatever that change may be in this game and over the next month.

Yeah, looking at the box score is depressing. Guard play overall unimpressive. Poole and Amiyah combined for 8 minutes, 2 shots, no assists, no points, and 2 TOs. Lombard and Collier were okay in scoring, but I don't think Collier can or will replicate those numbers in the Big Ten.

Lana only played 11 minutes and only got one shot. Bass shot 20% from the field, but got her double double and led the team in assists with Jones.

Just an ugly win over a bad opponent that gives me no hope that they are anywhere close to ready for Big Ten play.

Purdue Roster Analysis

so far the additions have been underwhelming while the losses are huge while iu keeps getting richer. maybe it is still early but i am not confident so far that the new coach will turn this program around
How in the world could anyone make a determination of this magnitude at this point in time?

If you’re gonna sucker punch a guy who fights dirty, you better knock him out.
The documents and J6 cases were legit. The NY case was a sucker punch but it wasn't federal. The Georgia case was covered under the J6 one.

According to MAGA every indictment, every investigation, even every criticism is unwarranted and malicious. You might have a little credibility if you called a strike once in awhile.

Border wall auction

You want to have a conversation about some of the J6ers getting punishments that were too harsh? Fair enough. But you are on record saying they all should be pardoned, even the ones that clearly and without any doubt committed serious violence against law enforcement.
The J6ers who should be prosecuted are the Capitol Police who failed to do their jobs. The gaggle of rag-a-muffins at the Capitol on Jan 6 were no different that the multiple BLM race riots that destroyed property, burned cars, committed arson, looted and injured police officers. But there is no effort at all to track down those BLM rioters and prosecute them. Why? Because they had a progressive ideology. It’s perfectly OK for black people to have a race riot. They good. But illiberal white people protesting what they believe to be a rigged election, those crackers must be tracked down and punished.

Doing the impossible

One of either Berg, Burgess or Furst has to play meaningful minutes AND come up with a solid performance around 10 pts / 8 boards or something close to that. Our 5 has to alter shots and fight for rebounds. Otherwise, it's apparent we will have trouble beating top 25 teams all season.
Not likely. Maybe, maybe the three together could get those numbers. That would be an improvement.

Border wall auction

Yes. They all should (and probably will) be pardoned by Mr. Donald J Trump, our awesomely amazing President.
You're embarrassing yourself. Maybe you need more time to come up with a creative answer that explains your contrary positions.

Why do you preach law and order except when it comes to your own people?

Your opinions about who should or shouldn't be held responsible for their actions are based on your politics. Period. You've stated many times in the past that people who resist the police get what they deserve........except when they're your people.

By whom is it known that Goebbels is known to have used that phrase?

I happen to be known for knowing that it is known that Obama is known to have used the same phrase. Are you comparing him to Goebbels? BHO is known for winning the Politico lie of the year in 2013 for repeatedly saying 'If you like your health plan you can keep it," but comparing him to Goebbels is known to be way out of line.

Many were known to have used it. I was one of those known to have used it during the phony Trump investigations.

Such faith and trust in the FBI despite all its corruption and incompetence is known to be part of the pathology of your malignant TDS.
No, I'm not referring to "elections have consequences ". I'm talking about the "did nothing wrong" fallacy. There's no way trump believed in it when he was being investigated but he is quickly doing a 180.

I was actually super excited with the Graham Harrel hire. I was like "Home Run! Grand Slam! Welcome back to basketball on grass meets air raid!"
That didn't work out so well.....
I agree 💯 I was excited thinking of Mike Leach offenses and slinging the ball around. Amazing how Harrell offense looked nothing close to Air Raid to which he played and coached in that offense.

Don't forget the federal government denying treatment to around 600 black men with syphilis in Tuskegee, AL. You know, just to see what happens when it's untreated.

These are just the few things we know about, and somehow BNI, you vote for the side that wants MORE federal government?
Yep. Sadly that syphilis experiment lasted for 40 years. That experiment had more to do about the sick, twisted, sadistic, racist, jackasses the US is known for. Not to mention, black women experiencing the "Mississippi Appendectomy". Where black women would go in for simple surgery for an appendix or something. Then come out without their uterus.

Heide does…he literally did it at the end of the TAMU game. It seems they aren’t told/have green light to be aggressive and look for that.
