How long can Boiler Basketball avoid being portaled?

I agree that you have the Standford, Texas, Penn State, Wisky Nebraska's dominating but teams like Louisville, Pitt, Kentucky, etc. have also broken through at times. It's definitely not like MBB where it seems that there's a wider range of teams with a legitimate chance to win it, but with Purdue's recruiting they seemed to have a shot at making that leap. Obviously it didn't happen this season and this will be difficult to deal with.
Louisville I’m reading has pretty deep pockets for Volleyball, Pitt has become dominate lately, KY has won a title and is usually good. I’d put Purdue on par with KY though, I still think that even if these players leave Purdue will bring in good ones from the portal, there’s money to be made playing Purdue volleyball, lots of adoring fans and seemingly a little money from the collective or whatever Shondell brings in from donations.

Does CMP go after another .......

Agreed with what you are saying. However, if he does hit the portal then we don’t get 1-2 or maybe even 3 of the Frosh since we were maxed out in scholarships (upcoming year expands from 13-15). So it’s a trade off, right? Paint may have thought DJ/Berg would be fine at the 5 and DJ very well could have been but injuries happen. It looks to have been a bit of a “gamble” on painters side and unfortunately, an injury happened and put us in a tough spot and so far, it does not look like the other 5s can provide the support we need to be fully successful (hopefully one breaks away or all 3 together for what we need).
Agree completely that it's a tradeoff and one each coach will have to weigh every end of season. It's a different game then it was just a few years ago.

I'm glad we have CMP and I trust that he will make the right decisions most of the time. But I think it's also fair to point out when his decisions don't work out. If I was a betting man, I'd say we have 2 portal players added next year.

You're embarrassing yourself. Maybe you need more time to come up with a creative answer that explains your contrary positions.

Why do you preach law and order except when it comes to your own people?
You want to have a conversation about some of the J6ers getting punishments that were too harsh? Fair enough. But you are on record saying they all should be pardoned, even the ones that clearly and without any doubt committed serious violence against law enforcement.

Your opinions about who should or shouldn't be held responsible for their actions are based on your politics. Period. You've stated many times in the past that people who resist the police get what they deserve........except when they're your people.

Purdue Ladies played basketball last night?

Let’s be honest about things, if Purdue isn’t going to play the money game in sports except for possibly Men’s basketball we’re going to see Purdue have years like this in most sports. Volleyball is an example although they probably will still be pretty good because most schools don’t care enough about it, at least Purdue draws with fans that care.

Wow, Stephen Smith borrows a thought from Aaron Neville to tell it like it is

The documents and J6 cases were legit. The NY case was a sucker punch but it wasn't federal. The Georgia case was covered under the J6 one.

According to MAGA every indictment, every investigation, even every criticism is unwarranted and malicious. You might have a little credibility if you called a strike once in awhile.
The J6 case against Trump was a load of BS. He didn't incite anything. And when he did offer Pelosi the Feds help for that day, she refused and admitted as much.

You know I proposed that within a day of it being known. Another poster who never posts here stated it was the wet market since that was the first media proposal as though it were a fact. Strong suspicions should have been held when China refused for the USA to send people to audit some things if I recall correctly.
And Fauci lying through his teeth about the US being involved with that specific lab by providing financial support for gain of function testing.
The more I think about it, the more I'm in favor of him being prosecuted. He made a fortune off Covid. Time to pay the piper.

My Cure (such as it is) for the NIL and Rampant Transfers

and include the agents. (agents could be a whole separate topic
one of the coaches was talking about how its now done. The agent contacts the school and says "I can get this guy for $150K." School says "ok". Agent then goes to second school and says "I can get (same guy) for $200K". Second school says "Ok". Agent now goes to the player and says "If you enter the portal I can get you $200K", player enters the portal and joins that school without violating the player "having" an agent. And now the players are upping their demands. One of the Tejas RB wants all expenses paid for 10 people for away game travel, FSU lineman insists they write in that he will play on all third down plays.....looking more and more like the sport is done.

How long can Boiler Basketball avoid being portaled?

I may have missed it in this thread, but I don't think anyone has talked about the revenue sharing that will start in Spring of 2025. Each school will be able to "share" $20.5 million spread across all athletic programs. Bobinsky has committed that PU will be using all 20.5m. Now I'm pretty sure all, if not most, of the B1G will also be doing that, but not every D1 school will be able to match that amount. So it does give the bigger spending schools some more advantage starting next year.

Issues

Fair enough. It was tough to see completely where I was sitting at the game. But even if they were slow to rotate, he still should take advantage of that more. And I understand what you mean now by having in their “bag”…that’s what the young kids say these days 😉.

And agree with Auburn being a bad matchup, but that’s why paint schedules these tough ones in non conference cuz we more than likely don’t see this type of team (from top to bottom and strategy wise) in the B1G. With Broome POTENTIALLY out on Saturday, we MAY have more of a chance, but still going to be very tough.

Something’s gotta change and hope we see whatever that change may be in this game and over the next month.
I think Purdue hangs with Auburn in the first half, being down 3-5 at halftime. But Auburn will make adjustments and take away whatever was working in the first half (probably mainly Loyer getting open looks or not forcing Smith to give up the ball).
Unless Colvin and Heide go nuts from 3 and we get more than just a few points off the bench, I think this ends up a 20 pt loss. Again, hope I'm way off, but the 3 teams that beat us soundly play similar to Auburn (long, strong athletic perimeter players and the ability to crash the glass.).

Does CMP go after another .......

Cuz Paint hasn’t done that. Maybe he can goin forward but as TJReese has said in another post, Purdue runs a TON of sets and it’s sometimes tough to pick up right away. Paint typically focuses the offense around 1-3 guys and he seems set on the big 3 we have right now…so if that holds true, that’s why I continue to say 4-6th option.
Well, there's no time like the future to do something different. Painter may not like the portal and what it stands for, or it goes against his philosophy of developing players, but it's an easy way to get instant impact players who can help now, not in 2-3 years. Teams can be built for FF runs, and Purdue might be that kind of team next year, but he's got to fill in a couple of missing pieces.

Purdue Ladies played basketball last night?

As Jeffboiler mentioned above, this is definitely a rebuilding year and I think most assumed it was? I sure did. That said, last night was the worst we played. 25 turnovers and alot of them were "middle school level turnovers" to put it kindly.

Nice to see Poole out there. She may be the only player that can dribble the ball with her left hand more than 2 or 3 bounces without losing control.

Long Season to go, but it doesn't look good for this team.. after Saturday's Indiana St game, we may not see a W until February. Hope I'm wrong.
I appreciate, we all want to be loyal and show support to our school, but rebuilding from last year just seems a bit odd to me. We were not very good last year either. The couple plus' are good to see, but are we just being wishful and nice in a Christmas spirit way?

I disagree with this notion that bringing in portal guys is going to disrupt team cohesion or moral. I think people say this because it makes them feel good about Painters lack of portal use as justification.

This team has holes in it's starting 5. The portal could have filled those holes. Those same holes will exist next year unless Painter gets 2-3 from the portal.

I agree with the portal needs this off season.

I am also glad CMP recruited and landed Cox who you might give up for a portal guy. But hopefully long term it works out having him next year.

The J6ers who should be prosecuted are the Capitol Police who failed to do their jobs. The gaggle of rag-a-muffins at the Capitol on Jan 6 were no different that the multiple BLM race riots that destroyed property, burned cars, committed arson, looted and injured police officers. But there is no effort at all to track down those BLM rioters and prosecute them. Why? Because they had a progressive ideology. It’s perfectly OK for black people to have a race riot. They good. But illiberal white people protesting what they believe to be a rigged election, those crackers must be tracked down and punished.
BLM wasn't trying to overturn an election. Intent is a critical aspect of crime.

Your post seems rich considering you're the one saying the police should have opened up on the J6 rioters because they were attacking a federal building. Obvious you think it's different than the BLM protests.

No efforts to track down the BLM rioters? Where did you get that information? I'll answer. From nowhere. Like everything MAGA these days, BS gets repeated enough that it becomes facts in your mind.

These are just federal arrests.

I absolutely hate when Coaches say the other team - who is a mid major underdog - played like it "was their super bowl" - when their team struggles to beat them by committing 25 turnovers against a MAC team. Anddddd that is precisely what KG said last night after the game to somehow excuse our continued bad play. Turnovers will absolutely kill us against most if not all big ten teams and having a coach continue to make excuses for this play will not fix that.
I'd not be at all surprised to see us with 30 to even 40 TOs against MSU's press all game long.

Josh Hansen is OC

After reading up on Henson I’ll say it’s a safe solid hire. The guy has 25yrs of coaching experience at pretty big programs so hopefully that helps. I don’t know what kind of offense he will bring to Purdue but maybe Odom knows something us fans don’t 🤷🏼‍♂️.

USC fans are upset that Lincoln Riley isn’t winning more games and the transfer portal is hitting them in the face so they start to play the blame game and thats when Hensons name gets thrown in there for not being a good OLine coach. A lot of fans say it’s not his fault and the other half say the O Line is horrible blah blah so you got to take fans opinions with a grain of salt.
