"Finding those guys in the portal that have those winning qualities."

Completely agree with this. Against all but the most elite defenses, this offense would be rolling if Smith plays as he has, Trey stays out of foul trouble and shooters got open shots.

Trey and the shooters are going to have to figure those things out if this team is going to contend in conference and make a run in March.
Trey getting into foul trouble was a blessing in disguise. It allowed/forced more furst mins and other guys into the rotation that maybe don’t play as much mins.

The confidence in Furst continues to increase and he is balling out (for him). He has helped change this team and excited to see him vs the better teams in the league and see how he fares.

But agree on your last point. I think they will but we probably take some lumps before then. Frosh are starting to figure it out a bit. Hope Colvin and Heide can find their shooting stroke again. Was encouraging to see Cam take it to the hole against Bailey—even if he got blocked to oblivion. Him and Colvin have been better/more aggressive on the boards the last two games too.

So the logic is, you don’t follow what the data says.

So for example, Illinois is 7 in KenPom, 5 in torvik and 6 in NET, but they still shouldn’t jump ahead of a team that they just beat in an historic fashion on the road by 30+?

And don’t have Purdue in top 25 (mostly to get us all to react and it’s working I guess so great job) and truly think a team like Vanderbilt or Utah state is better?

I can’t wait to see West Va move up after getting blown out at home to an unranked Arizona team. That’s the logic right?
I took Purdue out because they didn't deserve to be in, in my opinion. I couldn't careless what Purdue fans think. It doesn't change where Purdue goes. If that were the case, I wouldn't have started them at 10th to begin the season, which was higher than the AP.

So many missed open shots last night after B had set them up. He could have had 20+ assists last night.

So why do any opinion polls at all? Right? Just post the averages of them all?

Fletcher

I have a love/hate relationship with Fletch. I hate that he seems like an unathletic white guy playing in a church league, but then he goes out and produces and love what he brings as a compliment to Smith.

Now, don't freak out y'all, but Fletch's game reminds me a little bit.....take a breath....of Larry Bird. Now, again, don't spaz on me. I'm not saying Fletch is the next LB, but he's got a very crafty, sneaky game for having little to work with from an athleticism standpoint.

Feel free to discuss....

Marcus Mbow

I've seen some outliers for Marcus Mbow, but IMO that would be a reach for first round. He'll definitely get his opportunity - might also get moved inside to RG.....have seen projections for 3rd round. In any event, good luck to him.
He's definitely moving inside. One of the ESPN draft guys has him as the #1 center in the draft. He'll get a chance to play inside for scouts at the senior bowl.

@ Bonefish

you in a recent post tried to explain Trump's trolling. Perhaps this is of interest to you?

Great article.
I'm in favor of anything that Trump does that ruffles libs feathers.
I really enjoy watching the lefty libs (Bob, BNI and others) tie themselves in knots every time Trump makes some outlandish claim. Then they get upset because they can't figure out whether he's being truthful or sarcastic. Trump just leans back in his easy chair, folds his arms across his chest and smiles.

Purdue at Rutgers: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Ban Myles from taking 3's. Now.
Shoot ANY SHOT BUT A THREE!
Learn to get into the flow of the game doing the little things.
"Ban" is a hard thing to want, but I know and agree with the premise. I mean UNLESS you are so wide open and have to take a three ball...get in the flow. Last night we saw Cam drive once to the rim and the game before we saw Myles get into the lane. Both need to add that by being more observant of when it is there, as well as playing D, setting screens, seeing the court and making good passes as well as rebounding...so many things other than a 3 ball.

BTW, IMO we are seeing more teams scoring in the lane other than Purdue. Teams and players are getting better at the mid range game since teams are really 1) running players off the line 2) not helping off of three ball shooters as much 3) not being able to get all the way to the rim...and now have open shots in the lane...

Kinda disagree with this. But he's still NOT wrong. You just need guys that have both the right attitude AND statistical ability.

But even in advanced stats - it can be measured too or Braden Smith would not be so high in some standards....listed as a top ten player in efficiency.

But there definitely are simple stats that measure it regardless of the quote above. Scoring, assists, rebounds, the lack of TOs

Can you imagine this team with one more consistent scorer at the 3 or 4......with the right attitude. Well that's NOT going to come from a guy that you grab from the portal that only scores 5 a game.
I listened to the UCLA coach rant posted on the page. He has, without a doubt, some of the best talent in the country. But part of the issue is that in BB, unlike FB IMO, you have so MANY players out there that can be absolute stat machines nowadays. So how do you winnow out the winners from all of the talent? Props to Matt, he's gotten very, very good at doing that. And a lot of coaches are going to have to try to adjust to doing the same thing, or you'll see a school buying the talent and calling for the coaches head when they don't make it past the 1st or second round.

I'll also point back to that test he got from the Colts guy to evaluate potential recruits. That has paid off in spades, IMO.

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

It's hilarious to see the Indinia fans here STILL begging for our approval. They keep bumping a thread on a PURDUE forum clamoring for our acceptance.

At this point it's reached such a sad state, all you can laugh at their desperation (well .. even more than we already do).
.
Nice bump! 👆 Here's the reality; when someone posts off-topic insults I have responded to get this Indiana Football thread back on topic!

The topic is - did Indiana's 11-1 regular season merit inclusion in the College Football Playoffs?

Here's the latest update as a way of re-directing the thread from off-topic bumps back to its on-topic substance: After last night, I can factually state that IU's 11-1 regular season was ended with a ten point loss to a Notre Dame team that will be playing for the national championship. In fact, if OSU beats Texas, IU's only two losses will be to the two teams in the national championship game!

Anyways, hope Smith continues this tear he’s on.

Like TJ mentioned in another post, he is more focused on scoring and himself, as opposed to almost going out of his way to get others involved. His scoring obviously helps the team, but it helps his teammates get open looks too.

Sorry for the long rant haha. At the end of it all I agree with what you said.
