Any idea who Coach Painter is talking about?

Again, as I said, of course it doesn't hurt (unless it disrupts chemistry which we've seen quite a bit in college basketball the last couple of years). But I'm nowhere near ready to say it's a necessity. Hell, it's only January.
This team is substantially better than the team that loss games. Not going to say they can beat Auburn if Auburn doesn't have a bad game, but could win the other games. I think the things that Caleb AND CJ bring fill in some voids in this team. Have they arrived? No, but they are playing better and we are starting to see the freshmen start to get it. Next year Jacobson will help, but he will be a freshmen essentially and he will have some learning experiences happen. Now if Myles and Cam can show some more improvement (starting to see Cam put it on the floor a little to pull in the D) that will also improve the team.

Now as a shocker and no I'm not drunk. I see this team with a higher ceiling than last year. I also see this team with a lower floor than last year and the average being lower. The 3 pt shooters on this team "potentially" in a given game raise the ceiling...that just isn't the normality of the team. Zach allowed that consistent scoring no matter what the other team did typically, but his consistency shooting twos can't match the unlikely event of this team being hot behind the arc. Last year's team would beat this years team most the time, but if this years team plays at a magic level (borrowing from Gene) it can be very good.

Bottom line nobody can access what if anything Purdue needs next year and I know that the coaches with all the work they put in want to win the final game of a season as well and the portal one way or another will have all their work and desires going into the decision deeper than what we know. Matt has shown he will grab portal players when he thinks they can help. We shall see what happens in a few months. Personally, I'm guessing he may take one...maybe two, but more confident (not most , but more) in one player and believe it will be a 4 or 5 and I think that can swing with either position depending on the particular skill set a 4 or 5 have.

Deja Vu

TKR, Smith, Loyer is not a special group.
Lolol woooow. Smith and Loyer just scored 1k points. TKR closing in. Smith is the best PG Purdue has had and he’s only a junior and going to break the all time assists record at Purdue…in 3 seasons and will have a shot to be the all time leading assists leader EVER in the nba.

Loyer is one of the best shooters we have ever had too.

Deja Vu

The guys on the bottom have more hardware to show for their time here, but…if the Baby Boilers got to team with Zach Edey, they’d have won multiple national titles.
They wouldn’t have had JJ and Zach. And offense would have been diff.

Can say the same with this group, if they had Ivey stay with Zach all 4 years, it coulda been diff or if they had 3twaun or had Hummel, they’d have another F4.

Deja Vu

This. Nothing in that pic was about the NBA.. not even close really. It's more or less a mirror of 2 special groups of players and how that translated to NBA past and future is .. mind boggling.

But... people see what they want.... point of the pic and it being "deja Vu" is that we have a special group of 3 players as we did with the baby Boilers.. nothing more than that.
TKR, Smith, Loyer is not a special group.

Nebraska at Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Saw this today and wanted to leave it here.

Something has changed post A&M and Auburn and we are turning the corner. Seems like this team is finding their stride at the right time.

Up next is our west coast swing. Washington is awful but can’t take the foot off the gas if we are gonna make it a three-peat. Oregon will be tough.

Colvin and Heide yikes

My man you can take that “classy” comment and shove it. This dude hasn’t made a shot since Ole Miss and just looks bad. Sorry, but there are expectations. I was told here that the kid should be starting over Loyer. Lol
Weird. You were expecting Colvin to start alongside Loyer, no?
This board has been dreaming of that for a long time. But unless a big miraculously earns the starting 5 spot, the reality is that both Loyer and Colvin both are almost certainly starting.
