Re: Last night at least we're not IU fans...

They will never be a winner again until they burn down their connection to the RMK past. Alford will never be the answer.
The only guy that gives them their money's worth is Ballo. The rest of the roster is a walking commercial for the possible downside of NIL.
Speaking of the NW game, the fall Barnhizer took at the end was brutal.
I disagree aabout Steve, but do agree that Barnhizer's fall was pretty bad...especially with the dental issues he has.

Talent disparity falls squarely on the shoulders of Gearlds and her staff. They are paid 6 figures to get the talent and build a cohesive team.
I hear you, but in this age of nil schools that pinch pennies have practically zero chance unless they can hit lightning in a bottle and find a couple of hidden gems under the radar. Not likely to happen. I’m afraid the days of Purdue wbb national relevance are ancient history . Boiler up!

USC

USC must have been ticked that we led by one at the end of the 1st quarter. 2nd quarter, USC outscores us 31-2 . Bad moon arising.
Purdue actually led 14 to 5 in that game. Looks like they were expecting Purdue to just give up from the get go without a fight, and when that didn’t happen they decided they had to do more than just show up and actually had to start playing to win. It was lights out after that.

Not sure if you've paid attention, but Iowa lost like 5 games straight after curb stomping us, to a depleted UILL, a depleted NebU, and IU; all teams we have yet to face. Their only win since our game was against PSU. They are not a team that should have curb stomped us the way they did unless we are just really awful.
A beat B, B beat C therefore C cannot beat A sounds like a sound argument, but it does not always hold in basketball. O$U beat ranked Purdue men last year and this year. PSU women beat O$U. That is good to keep in nund but it is not a predictor of what will actually happen. Boiler up!

Re: Last night at least we're not IU fans...

I feel like there’s some bad blood between IU and Alford but can’t remember what….

Galloway his 3rd year is who we all hoped/thought Morton would be. B ur yeah, he regressed last year and is not any better this year…I am assuming his surgery to repair a torn meniscus over the summer had a bit to do with his performance this year, but he IS a fifth year covid senior.

Will be interesting how they do in this next rest tough stretch.
I know Steve and know the story. He told them never to call him again because of a situation where he was basically hired to replace Knight and waiting to tell his Iowa players, but certain trustees made an issue and threats about a minority should be hired and they came up with co-coaches in Treloar and Davis.

Treloar didn't want that and told them to give it to Davis and Steve was stabbed in the back.

Galloway has regressed, and what does it say about IU when they play him and Leal at the same time. I thought Woody would be the answer to the IU troubles, but alas, he's not even close to it. They need to bring Alford home because he damn sure couldn't do any worse.

I will not try to convince you. I don’t know the answer. The talent disparity, however, is overwhelming. But now that all the giants are out if the way ( save for O$U) we may be able to see whether we have improved or not. That usc team has 8 burger girls on it, and you can only play five at a time. On the hand our last burger girl was our coach. Kind of like Haiti going to war against the USA. Not much uncertainty about the outcome. So the season so far is not a good yardstick about what kind of team Purdue is other than it obviously is not competitive against the conference top half. The MTU loss is troublesome but that was a lot of games back. The rest of the season will definitely tell where Purdue is in the big picture. We’ll see. Boiler up!

Re: Last night at least we're not IU fans...

I was torn watching this…in a way I wanted them to win to make it harder to fire Woodson but also lose cuz it’s hilarious they are now 0-5 vs NU in woodson’s tenure and 3-7 in the last 10.

I just keep thinking how Galloway burned his Purdue gear when he committed and posted about it and since then, he has won absolutely nothing at all. Can’t even beat NU (he was on the team that beat them his Frosh year barely in 2OT).

Anyway, their schedule is about to get BRUTAL.

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong......

That's a bit of a flawed way to look at it. Yes, he averaged 34 minutes last year and is averaging 35.8 minutes this year. But prior to the foul trouble last night, he had averaged 38 minutes over his previous 10 games with 6 of those 10 being 39 minutes or more. That's a lot to ask a 21 year old, especially when you throw in the trips to both coasts in the last couple of weeks.
For sure. And then he sat for 10 min in first half 😠 cuz of the dumb second foul….prolly cuz he was tired from the travel and the mins you mentioned

No opposing fans are suggesting that CMP get fired as they are in Bloomington.

Ok Bear fans, how we feeling?

I’m a little surprised they got this done. Got the hottest candidate and are gonna pay him like a top coach in the league I think. There’s huge upside now offensively, especially if they do work on the OL, and it seems he already has a legit DC lined up in Allen.

Let’s go
They friggin hired him without an in-person interview. I hope he works out, but they're acting like he's a football God.

As a long-time Bear fan, why would I expect them to do differently.

We had 16 points in the 1st quarter and 21 the rest of the game. Okay, someone can say that we were expected to lose. That's a given, but are we seeing any improvement? If yes, convince me.

Ohio State at Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

The other players had 12 shots, but you would rather have Furst shooting than TKR or rather Colvin shooting than Loyer. I don’t understand that. We are not a socialist team.
While I don’t disagree. It’d be good to see more action with ALL players and not just the big 3 in CASE one of them is off.

When Colvin and Heide get the ball. Myles looks immediately to the next step in the set and not even at the basket and even just dribble to put pressure on the defense. Heide has some space to shoot but instead, pump fakes and by the time he pumps, the defender has recovered. No one has bit on the fake all year.

Harris last game put the ball on the floor to put pressure on the defense and cox is similar, if not more aggressive (don’t know if they were told they could be and the other two were told not to or what).

It’s hard for any shooter, especially at this level, to get into the flow of the game if they aren’t getting shots/touching the ball.

I don’t want to speak for everyone, but I’d say in the losses, the frustration is we don’t get anyone else going but the big 3. We aren’t saying Furst should get ISO over TKR or run the PnR with Smith (he is in no way anywhere near the finisher TKR is). What I AM saying is get Myles, Heide, cox and Harris more involved with the action. Set more back screens and flare screens, someone will get open to put pressure on the defense. We run a lot of weave at the top with hand offs and get pushed way out at times. Mostly Branden is handling it and no one else really touches it (yes he is the best player), but if we want to be successful in the tourney we WILL need a 4th scorer to emerge (unless big 3 goes on a heater which would be great but can’t count on).

We know Myles and Cam can be good shooters, so if we can get them going, it makes the team that much better. And same goes for Cox and GiCarri (he is showing good signs of confidence with shooting as of late).
