Our nation's COVID-19 response is a disaster !

Flori-duh. There is eveidence that this thing hasn't even peaked yet in Florida. His own state is laughing at him.

Highly predictable. Desantis was elected on the coattails of Trump and will act like a mini-me through the Nov election. That will be BAD for Floridians, but GOOD for the country, as it will clearly underscore the need for change.

There are 2 things in common with areas around the world that are doing this better than we are:

1.) Mask wearing &
2.) Social distancing

Until Florida and other hot spot states do those things, they will have a MAJOR problem.

Are you really that naive? If the virus had gone to Florida first, it would have been devastating. Even with 6 months to get ready, they have more cases than New York. Let that set in. Desantis is failing MISERABLY !

I know the facts - do you? I was the one who told you this was coming (Florida, Georgia, Texas, Cal), when you were denying it.

Florida doesn't have a natural spreader like the NY subway system - just stupidity, and they also had medicine, PPE and lessons learned from New York that help them avoid many of the deaths. Something New York never got. But you will obviously never admit THAT.

Three more emotion based paragraphs out of you. Some more facts for you:
1) When did Governor Cuomo get around to addressing doing anything for Subway system....answer April 30th. Not with an overly creative or effective solution...but at least it was his first attempt.
2) When did Governor Cuomo reverse his deadly policy of forcing Covid 19 infectious patients back into Nursing homes? Answer May 10th.
3) What was Cuomo's strategy for spread in multigenerational households.....close beaches and parks. Encouraged people to stay inside.
4) What did Cuomo do when the issue of quarantine around New York City came up....threatened to sue other states and federal government. Its estimated that nearly 2/3 of Covid 19 spread around US.came from New York.

5) New York Covid 19 deaths approximately 30K
6) Florida Covid 19 deaths approximately 6K

Very well aware of that and I have agreed with you on prior posts saying Cuomo made LOTs of bad decisions (GO CHECK !)

THAT just underscores the lunacy of Desantis, because he already has MORE cases and had 6 months to prepare. (NOT the sharpest tool in the shed !)

How does that make them "idiots"? Atlanta mayor got Covid 19, I don't think that makes her an idiot.
Be cause it's the White House. Our leaders.

Bottoms is not charge of testing in any way. That's on Governor Kemp, who last week took her to court over her attempt to require masked in Atlanta.

Florida:
1) 8th in state density rankings
2) 1st or 2nd in highest % of population over 65
3) 21st in Covid 19 deaths per capita
4) unemployment rate below national average....surprising given Florida's reliance on tourism.

Facts are a stubborn thing. Florida has done much better than one would predict based on two of highest risk factors for Covid 19 deaths (age & density).

Elected on the coattails of Trump??? Do yourself a favor and look up the resume of Ron DeSantis sometime.

I suppose if you lived in Florida, you would have voted for Andrew Gillum, a socialist who enjoys being away from his wife and kids with male escorts?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ! ! ! You sound like Trump - Your original comments of doing a superior job over northern states has given way to . . " becomes better than one would have predicted" .

You used to brag about the low cases in the south and poorly the northern states were managed and I warned you that it would change

Guess what? you were wrrrrrrong !

Yes, facts are stubborn things and that's why you can't talk about cases any longer

I also remember comments about how BAD michigan was. Are you still following that? Florida, Texas, Georgia, North Caroline, Louisiana, Tennessee now have more cases !

Some day, we will have to lay out your comments and mine side-by-side through the pandei

I have never bragged about or referenced cases. I have always compared death rates per capita when comparing states. Yes Michigan was bad, I did say that. Whitmer managed the situation poorly...I did say that.

Michigan-64 Covid 19 deaths per Capita. Unemployment rate 14.8.
Florida - 29 Covid 19 deaths per Capita. Unemployment rate 10.4

It depends on which per capita you use.

Another sad day - We just went over 150,000 fellow Americans which are now dead and the President is STILL unable to do his TOP priority - Protect the American people ! ! !

The problem is . . we will easily lose another 150,000 Americans before the country can do anything about it. Talk about a STAIN on our American history.

Meanwhile, Trump is retweeting bogus tweets about HCL as well as some quack doctor who says masks aren’t necessary.

These numbers will not improve until he’s gone and we have some competent folks in charge.

Per the Indy Star, Indiana has underreported nursing homes by over 20%, or 356 deaths:

https://www.indystar.com/story/news...-undercounting-coronavirus-deaths/5519453002/

An IndyStar analysis found that as much as 22% of the deaths were not represented in the state's numbers until they were revised in recent days.

In all, the data show that 356 coronavirus-related deaths and 789 positive cases in facilities such as nursing homes and assisted living communities were previously unreported by the state.

The reason behind the discrepancy is unclear. The Indiana State Department of Health could not immediately provide additional information on Monday afternoon. A call to the Indiana Health Care Association, which represents nursing home and assisted living operators, was not returned.

Everytime Agent Orange speaks in front of the nation or tweets, he is a serious threat to the national security of this country.

I have been highlighting the under-reporting in Anderson from the beginning and have had my local paper (The Herald) actively digging into this since the Spring. They ran a full page article on the under-reporting about 1-2 weeks ago. This information is "only" coming out because of their relentless efforts and even now . . . they continue to report that the information which they have requested for months . . is STILL not being provided.

Whether this is being covered up by the individual nursing homes or our politicians, or both, we do not know, but there is definitely a lack of cooperation to find the answers.

One thing is VERY clear - something SMELLS ! ! We may know more after Nov.

I have NO doubt that the national numbers are under-reported as well. The entire pandemic effort is a Cluster-F ! ! Remember when our nurses had to wear trash bags? When we were told that ANYONE who wanted a mask could get one? That we were going to have enough PPE? That we would soon have enough testing? That we only needed to safeguard the older Americans? That hospitals would no longer be overrun after our shutdown? etc. . etc.. etc.. ALL LIES ! !

Hell, it's still taking us 7-10 days to even interpret a test - IF . . you were lucky enough to get one (When Europe does it in 24 hours)

This is the most embarrassed I have ever been as an American !

no it doesn't. they had a record 1607 deaths in one week. you suck at math.
60 min in 1 hour
24 x 60 = 1440 min in a day
7 x 1440 min = 10,080 min in a week
10,080 min / 1607 deaths = 6.27 Min per death

What part did you have trouble with? ? ?
Yeah, that was pretty straightforward. Just when you thought he couldn't possibly be any more of an idiot...

Actually your numbers are incorrect. The media always gets this wrong, because they are lazy. The number of Covid 19 deaths reported daily in any state....doesn't represent the actual number on that day. It's a two step process.

1) take daily total reported by state
2) put together tracking schedule of actual date of deaths from that daily reporting.

Texas had a catch up adjustment of over 600 in past week. New Jersey had a bunch of days with catch up adjustments during July....many of those were deaths that happened a couple months ago.

ya the data takes a while sometimes. table 1 column 4 is interesting to watch.

Ok. I thought that 600 or so was added a couple weeks ago. You have a source?
Not saying you're wrong but some states are doing their numbers differently. Georgia for example.
Did they add any backlogs today because they just said 313 deaths for Texas today. That's not good anyway you slice it.

Adjustment occurred Monday. There is definitely some backlog in today's 313 number, but don't know how much. But then over the next couple weeks there will be some deaths that happened today that get reported.....that you have to add back to today's number...to get an actual number for today. Texas hospitalizations and cases are trending down now.

Ha.I found the 600 backlog right as you were posting this.
The 313 are being reported as new deaths but apparently those are a few from the past two weeks that are catching up. But, I guess that's how the daily new deaths will be reported as the info comes in. I can't get their whole dashboard to load right now. But, it does sound like Texas changed the way they're doing the deaths, so there shouldn't be any major backlogs anymore. We'll see if the trend continues.
This just sucks. I feel like we shouldn't even be at this point right now.
Hopefully Texas is actually doing better as the dashboard graphs indicate.

Starting to think you have COVID - you might need to get tested !

FYI - The 757 was a reference to a Boeing 757, which holds about 243 passengers. Geez !
