Indiana surely isnt broke.Government officials in the State love to brag about the two billion dollar plus surplus they have while our roads suck,the teachers are at the Statehouse today protesting for more pay and better school conditions and the states welfare case workers are overloaded as they need more case workers.Its the Hoosier way!

I think one of the most fascinating things about the 2020 election is that Trump is really going to put this idea to the test.
The economy is about the only thing Trump has going for him, and it's a big thing.
What's working against him, though, is darn near everything else. He is morally bankrupt, lies pathologically, and appears at times to be comically (and dangerously) over his head on foreign affairs.
I believe Trump won in 2016 because he ran against a historically bad candidate who ran a her campaign based on the assumption that Trump could never be a threat. If he wins in 2020, it will be a sign that many Americans are able to be bought - as long as their money isn't messed with, they'll put up with corruption and deceit and ineptitude everywhere else.
Personally, I find myself where many voters were with Hillary in 2016. It almost doesn't matter who the Democrats nominate, there is nothing Trump could do (short of change his entire character) to win my vote. There's not enough money he can put in my pocket to make me sell my soul.
I know you didn't ask me, but I'll answer. There are a couple of Republicans I would seriously consider (would need to hear more from them).

Do yourself a favor and research which presidential campaign came up with that line. Hint: it was another disgusting human being, this one with a (D) after his name. Toothpaste is out of the tube on electing a-holes as president.
I'm aware that the line originated with Clinton.
The point I'm making is that Trump is, in many ways, far worse than Clinton was in areas other than the economy.
Though I would argue that Trump is by far the shortest in the moral midget competition between him and Clinton, I suspect you would disagree. But there's really no case to be made that Clinton's foreign policy was as deleterious and damaging as Trump's. And even if it were, Trump's demonstrated refusal to behave in a civil manner and his childish twitter temper tantrums portray him as emotionally unstable.
I'm genuinely interested because I think this is about more than just Trump being an a-hole. I think it's about whether competency (or skill, if that's your preferred way of looking at it) in the economy will trump (pun intended) marked incompetency (and a demonstrated unwillingness to learn) in other important areas.
I generally prefer Trumps policies and judicial nominations to those of socialists like Warren or Bernie.
So you (I am not trying to be inflammatory here - really) are willing to overlook the serious moral failings and other issues because of your belief that his policies and appointments are more important. And I imagine that there are a lot of people who agree with you.
What's interesting (and unknown) is how many people are out there for whom the situation is reversed - the moral failings, pathological lying, and childishness are serious enough that, for them, those things are dealbreakers regardless of policies/appointments.
There might be a lot. There might be a few. The thing is, it wouldn't take very many to swing the election to the Dems. That's one reason I am fascinated by this upcoming election.

The question isn't whether I fully support any of the Democratic candidates' policies (though there are some I do).
The question, at least for me, is whether the difference in policy (and any disagreements I might have with that policy) is of greater significance than the difference in character, dignity, and morality.
For me, Donald Trump's antics and seemingly complete lack of moral or social conscience is a far greater problem than any policy difference.
And we generally prefer candidates with personality characteristics in evidence being within normal boundries to those with profound, diagnoseable mental disorders.
As President of the United States, under the kind of public microscope that no other person is under, how easy would it be to hide one's "true character " from 320,000,000 Americans for over FOUR YEARS ???
I know the character of someone that would publicly mock someone with a disability.
Then vote for one of the wonderful Democratic candidates. It's our choice. Then we can have our economy return to where it was and the middle eastern countries can start causing trouble again and push us around. All the new home construction will stop, we can open our doors to foreign immigrants, pay for their housing, healthcare, and their children's education. We can raise taxes on businesses and the wealthy who own the businesses so they will quit expanding. We can quit expanding the military, all the defense contractors can layoff workers. But we will be happy having the idiot out as we did not want him in the first place. The people who voted for him can hibernate again and draw unemployment.
I'm never surprised by the idiots that think Trump is some godsend for the economy.

I'm a life long conservative, and there's no way I'd ever vote for Kasich....EVER. He's not well liked in Ohio by the GOP faithful, he can't get an interview on any Conservative talk show FOX or otherwise, he's pandering every day to the CNN/MSNBC/anything left leaning bacause that's who he is.
Mitch....I wanted him to run a long time ago, but he does have those "ghosts" in his past.
And I'm never surprised by the snowflakes who are still crying foul because they ran a POS candidate and lost. Get ready for 2020.

Yep, it’s continued right along the trajectory that started in 2009 with the stimulus. Take any graph and lay out a ruler from then to now. It’s not like he turned anything around, he’s maintained.
Interestingly, per MULTPL, Real GDP increased 2.03% last quarter, and the figure for the last quarter prior to his swearing in, December 2016, was 2.03%

Romney and McCain both lost presidential elections. Are both of these men "losers" as people ?? As to the qualities of character, honesty and integrity ?? Theodore Roosevelt was non-victorious in the 1912 election; is he a " loser", likewise, in your opinion ?

Failure to realize that if you go by popular vote that means everyone's vote truly does matter. CA will probably always be blue so the republicans votes in presidential elections there don't matter now; same can be said of TX in the opposite way for democrats.. Popular vote actually makes everyone's vote matter.

For those of us who voted for him, it's not like we didn't know who he was. I kinda thought he would chill on the twitter attacks after he won, but he hasn't. I didn't vote for an angel or a moral man. Policy wise I think he's been great and there's no question in my mind we got the better candidate for the country. Would I take mitch daniels over him? all day baby. but that ain't happening. and if it's sanders/warren/biden at the helm then it's trump again for me. unapologetically so in the face of those choices. Maybe the libertarians will get their act together.

What about the unemployment rate? The number of unfilled jobs? Consumer confidence? GDP isn’t the only measurement of the health of the economy.
Actually Matt, the roads have improved a bunch and if you want more for the teachers....which I support...buy more lottery tix.
