McBryde's transfer will have a huge impact imho.

Starting 5:?

Kiesler - C
Harris - PF
Keys - SF
Oden - SG
Murphy - PG

Bench:

Cooper - SG
Gray - PG
Lawson - PF/C
McLaughlin - SG/SF
Farquhar - SF/PF

This team will have to rely on Harris, Oden and Murphy imho with lots of energy and hustle from Senior Keys.

McLaughlin will play a lot as will Cooper. Lawson is the only Center depth unless Harris plays a lot at Center along with Kiesler.

1. Can Harris develop a consistent outside jump shot? If so, she could be an all-american

2. Can Murphy stay healthy?

3. Can Oden take the next step and be a double digit scorer consistently? And carry this team offensively?

4. With Murphy healthy, can this team run a lot more and be a successful run and gun team?

5. Will they be able to rebound against and defend taller, bigger teams?

6. 3 point shooting could be a real positive with Murphy, Oden, McLaughlin and Cooper launching 3's at will and often.

7. How will the freshmen develop especially Farquhar and can Diagne score?

8. Can Diagne be a defensive stopper and shot blocker ala Harris?

9. Who will be the 3rd consistent scoring threat behind Harris and Oden? Will it be Keys?

10. Can Keys develop a consistent outside jumper?

11. Is McLaughlin the real deal? Is she the next Stephanie White? Can she be a consistent 8-10 ppg scoring threat as a freshman? She may be needed to score more, but that would be nice if they can at least avg 8 pts or so per game and be a scoring threat as a frosh.

12. How much will they miss McBryde?

13. Can Kiesler actually be a consistent contributer and offensive threat?

Lots of questions!

I could see a lineup alot of Harris and Lawson and 3 guards. McLauglin, Oden and Murphy, or even a 4 guard lineup with Harris, Keys, Murphy, Oden and McLaughlin/Cooper.

At any rate we will see lots of 3 and 4 guard lineups for Purdue this coming season.

Final Analysis:
Lots of question marks with this team. A very young team and not overly talented yet. Only one senior and one Jr. (Keys, Kiesler).
Not much quality depth, especially in the frontcourt. This team may struggle defensively imho and and with a 4 guard lineup a lot, could be out rebounded a lot. It could easily be another rebuilding year Purdue misses the NCAA Tourney and finishes near the bottom of the B1G. With the only 2018 recruits being guards, this team will have to hope that Farquhar and Diagne develop along with Lawson, and become consistent forces in the front court. This will be a small, young, guard oriented team, can that be successful? And watch for Harris to be a monster. #BoilerUp

This transfer crap is way, way out of hand. Not just WBB but MBB and football as well, and it's getting worse each year.

Betcha there are a lot of $500 handshakes we don't know about. Those might be $5000 or $10,000 handshakes in MBB and football.

Lots of good insight here. This team IS an unknown. I think the loss of McBryde will really sting, not so much because she was a great player, but because our front court depth is very thin and big inside teams will probably dominate us. (Perhaps some of the new inside players will rise up and make a difference. That would be a much needed surprise.) Kiesler might improve, but she is not very athletic and will probably not be very effective either in rebounding or when they drive on her. Still there is a lot of talent at guard and on the wing and I think Keys can be a special senior leader. And Harris is a budding star. I think this still could be a top 5 BT team and maybe make the NCAA, but even if we do, probably not going very far. Purdue's WBB program is not mediocre, but it is not great either and we seem to be stuck in that place recently without much hope of better.

Well said.

What do we think of the transfer of McBryde now? Not much inside scoring, and then when Harris doesn't really dominate and Murphy and others aren't really hitting 3's this team looks awful.

I was very unhappy with the transfer of McBryde, she was my favorite player.
I really don’t expect anything from Versyp coached teams anymore- far too many turnovers and she is a below average recruiter. I only hope for the best.

I don't think we (Purdue) had much to say about the transfer of McBride. We may never know the real reasons - that's her business. I do know that sometimes kids just don't blend together, the mesh of personalities just doesn't work. Maybe that was the issue at the bottom of this transfer. That said, we have to play with the players who decided to stay and not spend too much time on those who decided to transfer. Remember, we have often been the beneficiary of those transfers too.

Nobody was happy she left. Just have to deal with it as best they can. More concerned with the consistency of the players we do have at this point. If we're going to be a guard oriented team then our guards have to be a strength every single night on both ends of the court.
