What I don’t think Nebraska fans get, that reminds me of us in the late tiller years

Think that might be one bridge too far, equating Nebraska football with Minnesota and Purdue. Nebraska isn't the brand they were in the 90's, but they still have a huge following, tradition, and command of their home state. I would compare them to Wisconsin or Iowa, who don't seem to have any problems winning 8-10 games on a regular basis. Frost just isn't cutting it.
If you've ever been to Nebraska you understand why they have a full stadium. After the corn is out of the field what else are you going to do on a fall Saturday if you don't pheasant hunt?

how the does iu w/ their crappy stadium, crappy coach, crappy season get 5 4 stars this year
The recipe for that success starts with having a family member in the program already. Their 4-star LB’s dad is an assistant, the 4-star CB followed his brother. The highest ranked WR in their class will be reuniting with his HS QB.

Although it’s fizzled out this year, the combination of covid and a handful of the teams on their schedule having historically bad years created an illusion that resulted in a lot of positive momentum for their program.

Yeah, I'm not arguing that. Nebraska is actually worse than Purdue and Minnesota right now. Just is what it is. It is so frustrating because you can see what we can do, but because we are so poorly coached and our QB sucks dick, it is just hard to ever get back to being a good football team. Definitely sucks to be an NU football fan right now.
The Daryl Hazell years here were probably much worse and still recent enough for us to relate to. Probably more frustrating for you because your issue right now isn't really talent. You have the talent to be an 8 win team with better coaching. Probably not enough to win the conference or go to the playoffs but it's hard to really know how lacking the talent is for that until the coaching gets to an acceptable level.

When we hired Brohm the conventional wisdom here was that it would take several years for him to get us to bowl eligibility because we lacked for talent. I always contended that 6 wins is a low threshold and a decent coach could have us in the bowl picture immediately. As it turned out, some of those players we thought weren't any good under Hazell looked much better under Brohm and we weren't in near the hole many thought. I suspect the same is true with Nebraska now. If they hire a good coach, they could jump to 8 wins perhaps immediately with the talent they have on hand.

No no no I’m not talking about how bad your team is.. I’m talking about the shifting realities of college football. What you have that Purdue and Minnesota don’t have is your rabid fan base where you own your state and have 90,000 ready to watch a good Nebraska team with many more unable to get tickets.

what you lack that programs like that have is immediate proximity to large cities and thus easy talent pools.

in 1994, George karlaftis and David bell probably leave for places like Nebraska to be on tv every day etc. and if you had even one guy that good you’d have won on Saturday .. the ruud podcast said so. But those guys can walk down the block and play now and if they are good they’ll still be in the league.

So at this point it’s 6 of 1 half dozen of the other.

you have that idiot who looks like a cast member in midnight run who is like “f everything” in his 8 minute recap …

he and others want Adrian Martinez To be Adrian Martinez with drew Brees brain … or basically Patrick Mahomes the finished product .. what he doesn’t realize is that if that was who Martinez was.. he’d be playing for Clemson dude … unless he happened to grow up in Lincoln (which is the only reason we got bell and karlaftis).

Online posters aren't real life. I can tell you most Nebraska fans know what we are. Our Administration has been awful for a long time and has made some horrible hires. At the end of the day, Frost isn't working out, but there has been larger problems for a long time. Good win for Purdue. See you next year.
Have a good one. See you next year. Does Martinez move on? Is he back next year?

They used to draw their talent base from TX, OK, Neb, and IA. Some states have just out recruited Neb and it appears they're on a downward spiral yet again. If Frost isn't terminated, it likely won't get much better. I have no ill will toward them, but hope he stays yet another year.
Rebuilding is not easy. I think terminating or not terminating Frost is one of those on-the-fence considerations. Either way you could be committing your program to being stuck in the middle of the B10 race.

I am Frost supporter. His offense is outstanding in some areas (our O produces high yardages), but it struggles in areas like moving the ball in red zone. Coach Frost only had two years of head coaching experience when we hired him and had no P5 experience. There are some things a coach has to learn the hard way, so his inexperience has hurt him. I think coach Frost is our best option.

That used to be pondering question to keep coaches. With Transfer Portal and playing time, it can change much more quick that it used to. I'm still trying to get used to that concept, but it is now a Free agency market every season. Get a load of Transfer Portal personnel + tap Grad Transfers (more mature men), you all of a sudden have a team to work with.

Except why transfer to Nebraska if you’re from Chicago? None of any of this is in a vacuum .. what’s your local pool?

Chicago won't matter. NEB, Texas, OK, IA & MO matter. That was their one time footprint they no longer hold. Any young man on two deep charts at OK, IA, MO and any of the Texas schools (A&M, Texas, TCU, SMU) might jump for instant playing time. A new coach & staff can make a great case to some young men to come play and change the narrative from losing close games to winning ways.

Simplified to one word: Texas

There are ~200 P5 caliber recruits from the state of Texas every year. Almost enough quality players to to support an entire conference of recruits. And Nebraska is all but getting shut out of the pipeline, while talent players flock to the SEC.

We hope he moves on and he should. He has all of the tools to be a QB, but just doesn't have it between the ears. A lot of this is the downfall of Frost because he hitched his wagon to Martinez and didn't get a quality backup that we know of, but he also refuses to ever bench Martinez which has also lead to his downfall. We should have seen the backup against you guys, but Frost kept him out there.

We still get our fair share of recruits and should be better. Yes, it is hard to recruit to Lincoln, but on paper we've out recruited the West for years, just haven't developed anyone.

Silly mistakes happen all the time. Some is Coach, a lot is player and painfully, we've been beaten by referees (Reference Min two years in a row: 1 TD taken from Purdue with weak & questionable offensive PI penalty and 1 TD given to MIN that pass hits the ground and gets no review WTF!?). I hate to use referees, but it is reality in the human variable of the game. We've all pissed and moaned at Brohm in 2019 / 2020. In reality he did some big adjustments in off season and has tried in game adjustments with mixed results.
You indicate Frost doesn't in game adjust with Martinez and in large part that may be true. Will be interesting to see what happens over the next 2-3 weeks for NEB. Stay tuned to men's soap opera of B1G Football.
Peace with you and better days ahead (except when we play you).

That’s the point … selwyn lymon was the best physical specimen we’ve ever had at WR and a 4 star recruit. You ever heard of him? Did he outperform Taylor stubble field or John Standeford? He was ranked higher as a recruit.

there are all kinds of four stars. George karlaftis was one where Clemson and alabama were snooping around west Lafayette.. Indiana took a four star DE in the same class that I haven’t heard from since.

if Omar Manning and zavier betts were not only who they are physically, but also had a reputation as guys who were outstanding at YAC, as route runners, had a nose for the ball and caught everything .. they wouldn’t be at Nebraska.. just like Purdue got selwyn lymon and not braylon edwards ..

if you guys were what your fans think you are, youd have shown up to the game on Saturday with a similar team but also with an AJ Epenesa and Rashad mendenhall.. and then it’s probably a win.

you’re getting the high ranked guys where there aren’t whispers like “hey, he’s a four star upstairs too” or like karlaftis “that kid should be a five star and he will play like it.”

so now, let’s bring it back to the aha moment. Purdue got David bell .. who is better than any player on your team. Because we are a better program than Nebraska from the standpoint of history or fan support. No! Because bell is from Indianapolis and a metro area with a population bigger than your entire state is an hour from Purdue..

If everything was the same about the two schools but you were sandwiched between Indy and Chicago and we were 5 hours from cities.. you’d be beating us by 35
