What happens to our program, if Walters does not end up getting let go this year?

I'm not sure there is consistent improvement.

Lost 52-6 to Wisconsin.
Then lost 50-49 to Illinois. That's improvement.
But then lost 35-0 to Oregon.
So maybe he feels they should have lost 60-0 to Oregon, so 35-0 is improvement?
I don’t count the Illinois game. Obvious outlier due to :
Walters knowing what offense works against his scheme
Element of surprise with Browne

Zero improvement. Towards the bottom of the big ten in offensive stats and at the very bottom for defense which is funny cause we hired a defensive guru. Anyone can come in here and get their tits blown off by Oregon, ND and Wisconsin.

Posted this once before, but this clearly is how Bobo is thinking:

The factors of $ aren’t close.

People should also prepare that Brees’ kids will prob land at Texas or LSU and not here.
Yeah, his estimated net worth of $160 million is a lot (I'd certainly be happy with that), but we're talking about people with ten times that wealth, if not more.

I am actually hoping Indiana beats us 77 to 0 and then the decision will be clear!
This is the only year that I don’t want to beat IU. I have never said that before or even thought I would make that statement. We beat IU and Walters is going to use that as ammo that the team is starting to buy in and he is the right choice to right the ship.

If he’s still around for the IU game, then we need to start higher up the chain with the terminations…

Agreed.

We will see what the commitment to football is…

Or if the AD buys the line that a few million more bucks into the program gets everybody finally lining up and tackling correctly.

Are we thinking maybe the AD has been waiting for the NW game as the last chance to prove he can turn it around?

Purdue will not spend the money on football to fire a coach and hire a new one. This could be a tempting job, given expectations are low and no real record to follow.

That’s not true. It’s not a bulk buyout. That money is a sunk cost already and we save 25% by cutting the cord ASAP.

There’s far more $ at stake with ticket revenue, concessions, etc. if we do t let him go and can’t fill RA. Any AD worth their salt would make the change. That’s the real question to me. It’s not about $, it’s how committed do you want to be to this coach?

$9mil over a timeframe you’re likely to bring in about $200mil from the program if you maximize revenue opportunity - that’s nothing.

Let's say the AD doesn't want to fire/buyout Walters and he stays. Who do you think he will target to bring in to be OC? And what other positional coaches should be evaluated?
OC wouldn’t be anybody established…who that’s good is going to hitch their wagon to a guy who may only be around 1 more year?

Would just have to snag an “up and comer” and hope he’s good.

WR coach should get fired. DC won’t get let go as he’s running what he’s being told to run.

And good luck finding a decent OC candidate willing to take a 1 year contract, which is almost assuredly what will be offered.
