I think you proved his point, right? With similar talent over that span:
Sparty has 2 F4, 2 E8, 3 S16, made the tourney every year, 2 BTT and 3 BIG reg season championships.
IU has 1 S16, 4 tourney appearances and one B1G regular season championship.
That just does not make any sense. You cant be BOTH a recruiter of Freshman and a mercenary program at the same time.
isn't Sisley his FIRST in state recruit? That's just amazing.
I've seen very little of him, but he stands out. Looks like he's barely working and he's the best on the floor.
Looks big time to me.
Sisley was #65 on Rivals and rising before IU commitment.
Now he's #91 on Rivals and dropping after rankings update and IU commitment.
Rankings don't mean everything but still a big drop.
Haha who knows. Rankings don’t matter that much…but hopefully he made the right decision going to Montverde and IU.
I think Sisley did. I really wanted 1 of Jalen Haralson or Nikolas Khamenia the most. Oh well.
Hope we get 2 of West, Singleton, or SWA.
West apparently is heavily leaning us…and the other two would be great gets. We will see soon

Purdue

MSU, Indiana and Purdue sit in much different areas.
Michigan State: HOF coach, high recruiting, overall good success with a couple of good tourney runs.
Indiana: Average/Bad coach, high recruiting, sprinkled success in a couple of seasons.
Purdue: Future HOF coach, low recruiting, finals appearance but also multiple 1st round edits to double digit seeds.
It all comes with it's highs and lows. But there is 1 thing that can truly deliver success more than anything else.
Since that little dig at the end about Purdue, why did you omit IU missing multiple tournaments and getting blown out in the few tourney appearances they’ve had?
Which seasons were successful? I’m really curious what success looks like to IU fans now a days.
Well in that time period, won the Big Ten in 2016 and TJDs senior year I would consider a success having finished 2nd in the B1G and getting a 4 seed.
I’m curious why you focused on Purdue losing to low seeds in the ncaa when their Big Ten results those years were equivalent to IU’s successful seasons?
Seems tourney results used to be the standard at IU and now that’s not the case. Nice to know.
It was “hinted at” when he said “success in only a couple of seasons”….apparently.
Left out were the losses to ipfw, Indiana State, swept by Penn state, northwestern, Rutgers, Iowa and multiple bottom of the conference finishes. Oh and blown out by saint Mary’s and Miami in the tourney with an almost lotto pick and 2nd rder/top 5 Hoosier of all time. Getting mopped off the floor at KU. Missing the tourney 4 straight years.
To be fair, missing the tourney more often than not has to change a person’s perspective.
Why? Because it shows the highs and the lows that come with the combination.
I just find it interesting as I have always been told by IU fans that it’s tourney results that matter and conference championships are just okay.
I guess the narrative has changed.
Okay. Well I'm not all IU fans. And Purdue has hit the highs and lows. They've won B1G championships but also struggled in the COVID year. They made an NCAA championship appearance and also lost to a 16 seed. So there are the up and downs. But Painter is a good enough coach with a good enough system that allows the roster construction to work. It isn't some knock on Purdue. It's just the reality of it all.
COVID year??!!! Why would you bring up a year that most teams struggled and by all means didn't equate to a year of basketball but you definitely found that loop in your narrative. You're full of S***t....beat it!
But COVID year I meant 19-20. When COVID started. Everyone tried that year. Purdue was decent the following year or in the "COVID year." That was my bad.

Ha no. It’s the fact how you described Purdue but brushed over IU’s abysmal performance like it was no big deal. Always gettin those little digs in on Purdue 😂
You as a IU basketball fan are living a complete nightmare. Every year your fan base gives very high expectations and never seems to reach your(fan base) goals.
You guys are complete mess and keep reaching by purchasing players vs. trying to correct the actual problem.
Last 10 years.
Purdue 256-91, 74% winning percentage, 13 tournament wins & 4 B1G championships.
IU 195-136, 59% winning percentage, 4 tournament wins, 1 B1G championship.
So IU has seriously underperformed, but MSU makes the NCAA Tournament on a regular basis.
Now compare Purdue. Then compare the rest of the B1G to IU.
Your definition of 'success' for IU would qualify as success for Purdue, even in those years when they lost in the early rounds.
Sure. But his lows would be considered highs for IU, by your definition. That's why your contorted perspective isn't passing the smell test.
