Hos does NIL work for international players? I’ve read where Zach Edey wasn’t eligible but on the IU board it’s claimed Ballo got a huge deal. Are there exceptions?

Yes - Purdue specifically scheduled the Alabama game in Toronto for that purpose. And Kentucky did a similar international payday in the Bahamas for Oscar Tshiebwe.

A player can always make his own deals. Edey supposedly made a couple of deals on the side

I recall that Edey had to physically be in Canada to get paid for some of the NIL things - (i.e. filming commercials, video spots etc). I heard he was pretty well compensated.

There was some admitted red tape. But in the end, Edey received his money. He had at least two Canadian NIL contracts.

And no, he didn’t try to hide the facts. There were a couple of interviews where he discussed his marketing deals.
