Alright I have probably thought too much about the game, but the more I do the more ticked I get because we should of won. Yes UM was shooting lights out but the last two games we came out and got punched right in the face and didn't handle it well.

And I "blame" the entire team for that. Coaching staff on down because we played lazy and not focused and while we escaped PSU, we were roflstomped by UM. No I am not even remotely calling for CMP to be fired, but he has blame in this as well, he needs to be lighting a fire under these guys from here out to make sure it doesn't happen again.

The turnovers and lazy play on the court falls on the players to execute. You know what you have to do so quit playing matador defense and be aggressive! We need Haas and VE to be the forces we have seen them be in the past. And biggie hang on to the damn ball!

This is a very good team with a ton of potential. And as it happens the IU game may of come at the right time for us. They are in disarray and our rival and we need a game like this to light the fire again heading in to NW and the postseason.

Alright, sorry for the rant, last nights game just really irked me for some reason. Is it too early for beer?

100% agree. If we finish the regular season like we have the last 2 games, I'm going to be pretty worried. I think we should win out and go into the tourney with some momentum. But, we're going to face some good guards. So, we'll see.

NEVER too early ...well, unless there's keyboard connected to a server in front of you.

hopefully a wake up call before the last two games and especially the ncaa games. this was a michigan team that struggled to beat rutgers, but we have shown that we can lose to anyone{nebraska). not sure starting cline was the right choice but our defense was wretched until we finally woke up late in the game. very frustrating team, so much talent and not much consistency

Is anyone worried about our inability to get open looks from 3 yesterday? Seems like Michigan simply extended pressure on the perimeter and none of our guards did much about it in the first half. In the second half there were signs of adjustment with PJ and CE driving past the pressure, but our offense did not look comfortable even then.

I was. I think that was in part to our inside game floundering too. In theory (not a coach so this is just my opinion) a working inside game opens the outside game and vice-versa. If neither are working then we see what happened yesterday and against PSU.

I hope the team and the staff fix it quickly and get back to how we were playing, which I think they will and just in time to beat IU ad NW down.

Not sure that I agree - Michigan has been quite good at home. Beat MSU 86-57, Indiana 90-60 and Wisconsin 64-58. They have very good 3 pt shooters and they don't foul [best in the Big Ten]. They have not done well away from home but I don't know why??? When I have watched their home games I have been impressed. It will be very interesting to see how they fare in the Big Ten tournament - away from home on a neutral floor. I was very disappointed yesterday but I think we will be ok.

To add to that...if your guards cannot finish by driving the ball...you can close out much harder on the perimeter shooters. Carsen has shown he can drive, but for the last few games...he has not finished a high percentage of shots. In the second half you saw PJ drive more...and Cline is trying it drive more, but none would be called good finishers in the lane. Purdue has a lot of 3 pt line and low post game, but not a lot of inbetween. Teams are really scouted now and the weaknesses of Purdue are for all to see... :(

Sometimes we just miss the window to shoot. Cline needs to be more assertive with his shots. I never thought starting Cline is a good idea. And did anyone notice that Dakota was benched for a really long time during the second half when we were desperately in need of his assistance?

I HOPE the players can rest their bodies...and biggie...no more extended workout...leave it ALL on the court!

Well, loosing this game was not cool, but the sun was shinning when I got up this morning. Everything is going to be OK.

The blame goes squarely on CMP for this one. He blew the game plan from the beginning by putting Swanigan on Wagner and was late in fixing it by not switching VE onto Wagner until the second half. I go to 5-6 Michigan games each year and knew that Biggie wouldn't be able to guard him. For some reason CMP is too stubborn to change his game plan when the opposing player gets hot (i.e. Mason).

Sometimes, it's all about timing. There's always the arguments out there on whether you want to be on a big roll going into your conference tournament - whether you want to go on a roll IN your conference tournament and win it all - how much success is possibly TOO much success going into the NCAA Tournament.

Purdue had started to get a little sloppy of late, and the focus was waning. This is not a Purdue thing, it happens to all teams - there's been teams that had overwhelming amouns of talent that should have gone undefeated, but didn't because they slipped up. Obviously a lot of us knew we were not going into a great situation - having struggled the game before, playing on their senior day and they were looking for a signature win to cement their place in the tournament.

One thing I will strongly complain about (this has nothing to do with you) is this BS about Painter's job - and you even having to feel like you have to explain you aren't pushing to fire Painter. You do not fire a coach based on one game in a season. This is complete garbage that it's even talked about. Shut up already as even if we lose the first game of both tournaments, he's not getting fired. The people that constantly bring this up need to get over it, or get lost. It's getting SO OLD to come on this forum and that's what people want to talk about.
