Haven’t been there in years. Hope all is well with you and your sonIt will live on at Hoosier Huddle starting ~July 1.
I have no idea? I typically temper what I write, but not soft enough if others don’t temper what they write to be offended. I have no right to expect to not be offended as it is the purpose of the first and thank God some still understand.@tjreese
TJ, I took the liberty of referencing your name in my post on Knucklehead, since I assume that you are as respected there as you are here.
The WC is pretty much the same as always, with some no longer there, some still there with no handles, and some newcomers. It's not a bad place despite the IU leanings.Haven’t been there in years. Hope all is well with you and your son
Now I have dangerous world views? That's a new one. I'm not sure if I should be honored or offended?I am not this Kat guy ...
And saying something racist is racist. Period. I don't know who you are, nor do I particularly care, but trying to act altruistic and centrist while defending abhorrent behavior is pandering to the Rivetings and Bonefishes of the world, who are ultra right and have dangerous world views.
Yeah, I stay out of all the race conversations.......but I hear you.The one you were not sure about is calling a Thomas Sowell or Clarence Thomas a 'Tom' or White Supremacist. It is ridiculous, offensive, and BS. All because someone doesn't think like him. Just insane to me.
I agree with you on everything else. If someone said something that blatantly raciest or was close to that, I would back you and agree 100. Too often though, someone just disagrees or presents their thoughts on it, and they are labeled a racist or bigot. It rarely is that black and white, although sometimes it is just that.
While I support Trump more than I did Biden for sure, I am under no illusion that he is perfect and does everything right. I hate the bloviating for instance and every decision he makes is correct. I do like some of the policies and I am seeing quite a bit of change. Where I live, gas is down a decent amount, I am spending 50 less per week on groceries etc.... I also think the media blows many things WAY out of proportion or just plain lies (not saying FOX can't do the same btw). IMO, the media is the biggest reason we are where we are, the opinion pieces and nastiness instead of the old Cronkite method, just report it and let people make up their minds.
Some of this I agree with, some I don't, but that is ok. For me I like what is happening with less illegals, I like that my grocery bill has come down 50 bucks a week, my gas is down quite a bit from when he came into office. I like that he is showing some strength in foreign policy, even if I don't always like the bluster that comes along with it. Looks like the Europeans are finally starting to agree to pick up more of the NATO bill which I think was needed. My biggest problem really is the media. The hypocrisy of things from them from one President to the other irritates me to no end. I didn't start off a Trump guy to be honest, but his policies the first time did benefit me personally, and then the media narrative constantly crapping on the guy no matter the situation moved me more his way. Have always hated 'the greatest and best this, and greatest and best that, stuff.' Hate his thin skin and caring so much what some say about him. Should have gotten off twitter long before he was forced off, too much nonsense there.Yeah, I stay out of all the race conversations.......but I hear you.
I find myself agreeing with some things trump is trying to do but the execution stinks.
Border crossings are almost nonexistent and that's a good thing. I think it has less to do with enforcement and more to do with the deportation policy but in the end it doesn't matter. But I have a big problem with how ICE is executing the policy in some cases. Masked men without warrants dragging people away. Families can't reach them. In some cases deported to foreign countries. Judges orders being ignored. People that came here illegally 20 years ago, worked hard, paid taxes, no arrests, raising families. We should be fingering a way to KEEP those people.
DOGE was a good idea but horribly executed. Ukraine lol. Tariff policy is all over the place. Trade deals that we are told are happening. Little to nothing.......and the ones that are done amount to next to nothing but are celebrated. Going after universities and trying to dictate what they can do because you don't like the speech that comes out of them. Going after lawyers. Executive orders that clearly show you want up rule by decree........including one that orders the DOJ to investigate former officials over the 20 election. Now calling for a special prosecutor to investigate that election. Vilifying the media for daring to ask questions about the Iran strike........which is their JOB and is completely valid........ and then having the balls to accuse them, and anyone else, of disrespecting the PILOTS of the B2s if you question the strike or the results. Has nothing to do with the pilots, he's just using them as cover. Disgusting. I'm lukewarm on the strike. Seems like a good time with Hamas and Hez defanged. Get out in front before another NK emerges. But it clearly appears we're doing Israel's bidding........and it's far from clear how close they are to a bomb not to mention how they could possibly deliver one if they had it. The fearmongering is over the top. Ted Cruz is talking about a mushroom cloud over NY for goodness sake. Obliterated. We don't know that but everything is a resounding success even if it isn't. And if you say it isn't you are just fake news and a terrible person. Don't criticize or he'll cut your legs off or sue or primary you.
Anyway, Trump is not a detail guy and it shows, like his whole life. Some good ideas that fail because he likes loyal people who also happen to be unqualified in many cases, and he doesn't follow up or stay focused. Doing what people want makes him popular.........which is his driving force, not solving problems.
I find myself agreeing with some things trump is trying to do but the execution stinks.
Government stats on food and gas prices show little change since Trump took office. I hope you're not one of those that thinks the president can control gas prices, even food prices, at least in the short term. Or doesn't believe presidents get too much credit or too much blame for the economy. Some of this I agree with, some I don't, but that is ok. For me I like what is happening with less illegals, I like that my grocery bill has come down 50 bucks a week, my gas is down quite a bit from when he came into office. I understand. I'm worried about the damage done getting to the results.I've always basically said that. Like the policies and what he's trying do, don't always like how he does it, so I just focus on the results as that's what ultimately matters.
Fair enough, now let's look on the positive side.I understand. I'm worried about the damage done getting to the results.
Science is suddenly a bad thing. Flat earthers are making a comeback. Trust in institutions is lower than ever. Judges, appointed by both parties, have become the enemy. All of those things and more can be directly traced back to Trump words and actions. Not saying he's totally responsible but his constant attacks take their toll over time. Before long people are refusing vaccines and ignoring judges.
Trump may be a lot of things, but having thin skin isn’t one of them. The media lies about almost everything he does. He gets sued about everything. His own party leaks information out of meetings. He gets shot and comes back stronger than ever. I don’t know anyone who could withstand all the obstacles he has to deal with.Government stats on food and gas prices show little change since Trump took office. I hope you're not one of those that thinks the president can control gas prices, even food prices, at least in the short term. The left media certainly went too far to attack Trump in his first term..........but the right media did no less for Biden. I don't see much difference and I'm not using that as a reason to vote for one or the other. But while the NY and Georgia cases were ridiculous, the Mara Lago case was a slam dunk and the J6 case had enough merit to be litigated. But somehow those two have now been framed to be excessive when they weren't.
You don't make any reference to my other issues with Trump in this term, namely the authoritative tendencies that manifest themselves in brute strongman actions against his enemies and in furtherance of his policies. His obvious efforts to profit from the presidency that would have been unthinkable ten years ago. Those are the fundamental changes in America I referred to earlier, among others.
His thin skin and greatest ever tendencies tell us who he is and how he operates. Then you have to accept all the other flaws that go along with the narcissism. But none on the right seem to care be cause he's their guy. How far down this road are you willing to follow him? What is "too far" for MAGA? Is there such a thing?
Not thin skinned? Do you know what it means? It has nothing to do with the BS you shoveled.Trump may be a lot of things, but having thin skin isn’t one of them. I'm not sure Trump is this skinned as much as he's willing to punch back without a filter. Which....while maybe appearing un-Presidential to some extent, Trump obviously doesn't care. If someone like AOC is going to attack him, he's not going to sit there and take it.Not thin skinned? Do you know what it means? It has nothing to do with the BS you shoveled.
Unbelievable.
This is just the company line. "Science has become political ". Wtf does that even mean? All scientists are liberals and they meet at The Sizzler every other Thursday to discuss how to institute their liberal agenda? While I'm sure you can give a couple examples of what you believe is science becoming political, the reality is the vast majority of scientists simply follow the facts.........and to make the uninformed and generalized statement that scientists want to push a political agenda is just lazy analysis. For instance, climate change has become political but not because of the scientists. They are are chasing facts but the data is not clear. Politicians and activists have made it political, not the scientists.I'd say most of that is deserving as science has unfortunately become political long ago and it's usually tied to the funding. Judges and other sources that used to be trusted have done their own damage to that trust by again, trying to use their position of trust and authority to push their politics. That's the issue, to many things that shouldn't be political has become political because people can't control themselves and instead of just following the facts they have to follow their ideology.
I disagree with several things in this, but don't want to write out a novel. Probably wouldn't change your mind as you wouldn't change mine. I am not a MAGA or die type of guy, I have just seen some of the things I want to see out of him that has benefited me personally. Some things I would change.Government stats on food and gas prices show little change since Trump took office. I just don’t understand how some district court judge can overrule the president. Just can’t believe that is what goes on today. This is just the company line. "Science has become political ". Wtf does that even mean? All scientists are liberals and they meet at The Sizzler every other Thursday to discuss how to institute their liberal agenda? Judges are being labeled political because they have made decisions that go against trump. Have you even considered that they may be right? It's not like trump follows all the rules and doesn't push the boundaries of the law regularly. Laws and norms that have worked fine since the beginning of our country and being challenged by this admin. The constitution is having to be interpreted in ways like never before. Sorry if trump loses some cases. That's going to happen when he pushes the limits and comes up with new ways to work around the system. He's declaring emergencies that were never intended to be used to institute very controversial policies.
I don't have a problem with a district court judge overruling the president on an issue within his district. But we have had cases where a district court judge in some sector of Massachusetts is telling the President he can't deport illegals in Austin, Texas to El Salvador. It is lunatic judicial overreach.I just don’t understand how some district court judge can overrule the president. Just can’t believe that is what goes on today.
Even in their district, I don’t understand that they have the power to overrule the president. This isn’t the Supreme Court, these are just district judges.I don't have a problem with a district court judge overruling the president on an issue within his district. But we have had cases where a district court judge in some sector of New York is telling the President he can't deport illegals in Austin, Texas to El Salvador. It is lunatic judicial overreach.
I hear ya but it seems that a district judge should have some authority on a case within his jurisdiction. Keep in mind the case can then be appealed up to a higher court. But these universal injunctions were just pure TDS Trump hate-mongering.Even in their district, I don’t understand that they have the power to overrule the president. This isn’t the Supreme Court, these are just district judges.
That is true, but just me thinking Trump should have the say on what happens here in the United States. I realize currently that we live in the divided states. It’s a waste of time and resources to continually have to take all these liberal district judge’s rulings to the Supreme Court.I hear ya but it seems that a district judge should have some authority on a case within his jurisdiction. Keep in mind the case can then be appealed up to a higher court. But these universal injunctions were just pure TDS Trump hate-mongering.
