Scott Frost

Before we stick a fork in Nebraska and call them done, did anyone else see their offense in the late 3rd Quarter and the 4th? They went through Purdue's defense like crap through a goose! Their defense needs to upgrade its talent level at DL and DB and they make some stupid, undisciplined and immature mistakes. That will change by instilling a new culture in the program and landing a handful of good recruits in a couple of key positions. They'll be better by the end of this year and markedly better next year. I think they'll win four or five of their last seven games and end the year with a lot of momentum that will help with their recruiting. This is the same coach to took a 1-13 team and led them to an undefeated season and a BCS bowl win 2 years later. To write Nebraska off already based on an 0-4 start might be a little premature. He's more concerned with reshaping the culture and tossing out the bad apples this year and looking forward to next than he is with this season - the same approach that he took at UCF.

I hope Nebraska wins a bunch of their games this season....like Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Minnesota. All of those teams need losses in order for us to win the West.

They were down three scores ... it was as meaningful as Northwestern “getting shut out” by us in the second half.

How good did you think Nebraska would be before the season? Because I looked at advanced running offense + most physical conference + freshman QB = this bad

You think the Michigan game was bad? I hope Nebraska shows life going into the Ohio State game to the point where frost isn’t gonna pull Martinez like he did against Michigan. Then you’ll see bad

I thought they would not be very good this year. My comment was directed towards those who are suggesting that Nebraska will never be any good and that Frost was a bad hire and that they need to leave the Big 10. As far as their late game performance being "meaningful", I was merely pointing out that they are not completely without talent or ability and that they can be expected to get better. How much better remains to be seen and they won't go to a bowl game this year but some poster have already unduly written off Frost's entire career at Nebraska. Incidentally, I don't doubt for a second that they'll get trounced by OSU but so will a lot of teams. There are maybe 4 or 5 teams in the entire Big 10 right now who can even think about trying to compete with OSU and Nebraska isn't one. No surprise there.

I agree with Nebraska having talent, and their capability to be good in B1G. They just need more time to adjust by finding a new pipeline and developing a better strategy. I'm not sure if Frost is the man to do it, though. I thought Pelini was doing fine and Nebraska would break out soon. They fired him without a clear alternative and they paid for it.

This has happened before, even at Purdue. People were upset with Tiller so they switched to Danny Hope. A lot of good it did. Then they tried Danny Hazell. Oh boy that was a bad idea. It took us 9 years to get back to being competitive. Nebraska, with their rich history, should take less than that. Frankly, though, I'm not sure if Scott Frost is the man to do it.

I wouldn’t say they’ll never be any good. They will never be Penn State, who came into the conference and is now a power pretty much on par with Ohio State and Michigan.

Frost being a bad hire? I don’t think so. Even if they are just Wisconsin good at some point, a former NC QB is almost always a good hire at his Alma mater with any previous success.

Back to the big 12? Therein lies the issue. Frosts offense is from the less physical pac 12. The Big 12 is between the 2 in terms of physicality. The days of anyone having Adrian Martinez with three four star QBs on the bench if he gets hurt are over. He’s going to be a QB they rely on to be almost a primary rushing threat in a conference where you’re more likely to get hurt doing that than any conference besides maybe the SEC, With a big drop off after him.

They won’t suck forever but if Brohm stays, they’ll have to do everything right to be on par with Purdue

Forget about now. Go back to their glory days. That ship never sails in the Big Ten. The QBs would have been moving too slow by November.

A question I would pose. We know each coach typically has a recruiting base. It's very obvious where Brohm recruits. Tiller used to have a big Texas connection.

I'm curious in reading several comments that have said Nebraska has lost its Texas recruiting connection as part of joining the BIG 10. I find this odd because other Big 10 teams still recruit Texas players. Is this a result of their last coach looking elsewhere? Or is this Frost has his own connections elsewhere and is looking for a different type of player? Or some other team like Texas, OK, Alabama or lsu is now raking in Texas recruits.

I think frost wants to try to make inroads in California like osbourne no?

I really think moving to the B1G was a bad move for them. If you think Rutgers and MD are not natural rivals for us imagine how they play in Lincoln. They fit with the TX, OK region much more naturally. We've been affected by the additions to the B1G but we weren't jerked out of the conference and rivalries that we had established just for $$$ and change.

Nebraska has played Minnesota 58 times and Iowa 48 times. The Huskers have played Texas 14 times and TCU 7 times. It is 303 miles from Lincoln to Iowa City and 433 miles to Minneapolis. State College is 776 miles from Iowa City and 986 miles from Minneapolis. Even traditional rival Colorado is 500 miles from Lincoln. Nebraska’s legendary coach and AD Bob Devaney came to Lincoln from Michigan State. Pete Elliott, a Michigan alum and former coach and AD at Illinois was a football coach at Nebraska. Former AD’s Tippy Dye and Bill Orwig were Big Ten alums and they left Lincoln to go to Northwestern and Indiana. Barry Alvarez is a Nebraska alum. The ties between Nebraska and the Big Ten have been historically strong.
