Ryan Cline's made three progression by game

He was dialed in last night and his release is quick and all net.

Plus he is handling the ball and passing well......just needs to work on rebounding but will say he does try so the effort is good there.

Excited to see him progress.

1, 1, 3, 3, 5......it's going to be really fun to watch him hit 7 threes against ND next week.

And he's now shooting 61.9% from three. That's pretty good, right?

Forget Notre Dame. I'm thinking forward to the NCAA Tournament!

as of right now we are the 2nd best 3 point shooting team in the nation only behind UCLA. I'll take it.

I didn't see this coming. I love seeing teams double up on our bigs and leave guys open that are lighting it up. Really pleasantly surprised by how well we are shooting so far this year and hope we can continue it in league play.

don't get too excited bub. clines not any good

Bet you wish you were Collin right there don't ya? You do.

Bilas said it last night and I agree, it does feel like Cline just always makes it when hes open.

The thing is, the clip that the team is shooting will allow Biggie and Haas to be even more effective inside. You started seeing that last night as ASU started being late to the double team..which allowed Haas to either make a power move OR see the double team and pass out of it. When the double team is on time and in place, Haas tends to struggle. He'll get better at making quick decisions as AJ truly became good at as a senior.

I think it is the other way around. When we are hitting our 3's, then Caleb and Haas can go one on one. When they don't, then they get double teamed.

Also am I the only one to see Haas get his off arm raked continually? Haas looked like he did a better job rebounding. He seems to take a long time to box out his man and will continue to be more effective once he gets quicker at it. This is a recommendation and not a criticism, but he also needs to gamble. When he see someone driving to the basket with his head down, Haas has to commit 100% to going after the driver to block his shot. He needs to have a spectacular block early and then go back to correctly defending his man and then the basket. His step outs have been very good.

I think you misinterpreted my post. The shooting from the outside forces the defense to play tighter on the arc...that in turn forces the double team to be late. That, in turn, allows the bigs to make a power move to the hoop OR time to pass to the open man as they are able to take their time more. When the double team is ON TIME because of poor outside shooting, Haas tends to struggle. At times last night, he showed better prescence when the double was on time though. AJ really improved on passing out of double teams even when they were on time last season as a senior...it's probably the hardest thing a big man has to learn.

I understand what you are saying, but my point also incorporates the post about Haas' elbows. Haas is a big strong kid, but unfortunately being that big he looks slow even compared to AJ. The refs are afraid he will hurt someone and it seems all questionable (either O or D) calls will go against him on either end of the floor.

Louisville was a perfect example how our players were called for reach ins, yet Louisville was reaching in constantly against Haas. Replays showed where he got blocked against Louisville and ASU that the defender raked his off arm and followed through to block the shot. Even when the ref called the foul and Jay Bilas watched the replay Jay was saying it was a good block. Yes the ball was blocked clean by one player, but the post defender was all over his left arm.

These reach ins at Louisville IMO had more to do with Haas having problems passing out of the block. The fact that we were hitting the 3's had a lot to do with the double coming late and Haas looking improved against ASU.

Unfortunately Haas has to continue his relatively meek game, because we don't want him in foul trouble. But, if the officials do not call the rakes against him and he has only 1 foul or less in the first half than I would recommend a well placed elbow during the 1st rake of the 2nd half.

This. Unfortunately.
At this point the refs have adjusted to Isaac as much as they are going to. The modern game is officiated to benefit smaller, quicker, more athletic players. Asking Isaac to play like a brute will only get him in constant foul trouble.
Also pay attention to home/away splits. He usually draws an early call or two on the defense at home, which forces the other team to lay off him a bit. When that happens he can typically score at will. When the other team is allowed to hang on him and reach in at will (typically on the road) you have to roll with it.

I was not able to see the game on TV, but I did see :15 on a sport's web site. Haas stepped out to prevent the ball handler from driving base line. The player passed out to the key. That player drove to the basket and Haas was 100% focused on coming over to block the shot and he sent it to the third row. I am not sure what happened after that, but I am confident the opp started wondering where he was.

Johnny and Todd which came first the chicken or the egg? I think you guys are in a similar discussion lol

Actually I am trying to throw some love at Haas. Guys 7'2" don't get the credit they deserve from the fans or even the refs. Caleb gets a lot of support from the fans, because he works very hard. Haas works hard too, but gets overlooked, because he is big.

However, the chicken or the egg is accurate to describe how they are both needed for a great inside and outside game. When the D is effective inside we need the outside to start hitting and went the D smothers the outside we need the inside to take advantage of the 1 on 1's inside.
