Wisconsin will try to slow the pace down in typical Wisky fashion, we will have none of it. Purdue 80 Wisky 67 (Hammons 28)

This is a huge game in concerns to BTT seeding. Win and we are guaranteed a 5th through 2nd possible seed (with only one scenario each possible creating the 2nd and 5th seeds). Lose and we are guaranteed a 6th through 8th seed

I don't see us losing this one. Wisky has had some amazing luck, but it's about to run out. We have too many people who care and Mackey is gonna be rocking. I'm pumped to see our seniors close out their Mackey career and hope they televise the ceremony. I'm gonna miss this group. They really fought to bring the spirit of Purdue basketball back.

I think it's going to be a tough one, a real battle. Bronson Koenig seems like he always plays well against Purdue. He almost always tries to shoot it off the dribble when Wisconsin is in a late shot or game-clock situation. If Koenig doesn't have it in those situations, Hayes has gotten it from him. The Boilers might as well double Koenig in that scenario. I hope you're right, though.

Instead of approaching it as their final regular season game, maybe they should try to think of it as a season-opener (0 wins, 0 losses) and go out ready to show everyone that they are the best of the best in this "brand-new" season.

Purdue 74 Wisky 69

AJH, Hill and Davis lead the way.......

Will be tight and back and forth the first half with each team having a lead of 4 to 5 points.....

Second half, Purdue's depth and aggressiveness closes out the game and we hit our free throws and rebound the Wisky 3 point attempts late to win it by 5.

Going to be a good game to see both coaches use a bunch of players to gain advantage.

I think we will see an all around game with run and gun in the beginning, then half court games toward end of first half, then Wisky pressing early in second half and Purdue being aggressive and attacking the press for break away dunks and then it all coming down to who rebounds and who hits the free throws at the end.

Boiler Up!

very detailed

I would love to see them be able to break the traps/pressure and even get a few easy baskets out of it. Davis has been known to play well offensively at home and Purdue has been known to win when he (or Vince Edwards) score 10 or more points in a game.

Purdue 80 Wisky 66 (Only this close because of starters getting taken out at end and seniors getting a standing ovation). All seniors will be inserted and given a chance to play some seconds or minutes.

What are some matchups or keys (besides the obvious) that you believe will be important in determining a positive outcome for the Boilers tonight?

Edwards and Biggie need to be aggressive and rebound on both end and shut down Vito Brown, Happ and Hayes.....

So key to me is the 4 position playing well for Purdue.

Also our guards need to guard the 3 ball and play smart......

Badger fan checking in - PU's main advantage is that UW generally does not double the post on defense and your twin towers should have a field day. That also affects the other end of the court unless UW can get your bigs in foul trouble - UW should be fairly perimeter-oriented by necessity,

Whoever said UW will pressure and trap has obviously never seen a second of Wisconsin basketball in the last 20 years. The only time this ever happens is in late game desperation. It may seem like a smart strategy to employ against the Boilers, but that doesn't mean the Badgers are remotely likely to implement it.

Hmmm guess I was right about the press......

Love when people spout off....and yes I have watched the Badgers....when Purdue has been kicking their ass.

Actually the Badger fan was correct. Wisconsin didn't employ any kind of full court pressure until it was desperation time. That isn't their game at all and you could tell they weren't really used to playing that style.

Not really sure why you were pounding your chest about being right??

My answer...even though I do not feel the need to explain so because it is obvious:

Read between the lines....he spouted off saying they wouldn't because they don't do it...and left a possible chance of they might in desperation......but yet had to call me out and act like I didn't know what I was talking about by saying they would press.

bottom line is they did use it like I said they would.....I was right.....he was wrong because he implied they wouldn't because that is not what they do....but left the door open a crack to possibly be right if they did press.

I was also correct in saying how Purdue would attack it...and they did with success.

Oh and I can pound my chest whenever I want....Boiler Up!

Pound away my good man!!

You didn't like the fact that the Badger fan reminded you that Wisconsin doesn't press "early in the 2nd half" as you suggested they would. There is no need to read between the lines, you got your feelings hurt and tried to call him out. You were wrong and he was right. They didn't press until it was desperation time just like he said.

I'm a PU fan but when people like you attack reasonable posters from other schools you need to be called on it. The guy was correcting you and you didn't like it. You can't make up "facts" to try and make yourself look right.

Keep pounding it looks good on you.

I said they would and they did......

I will continue to do whatever I want.....

If you don't like well GFY.........

Ignore all you want. My record on here speaks for itself. I'm as far from a bandwagon fan as you will get and I have no idea how you got that from this thread. I'm a PU grad class of 88 hence the name. Not sure how long you have to be a fan of the team to make your criteria but I think I'm in pretty good standing. JPC member for 2 decades.

To the point at hand.... Wisconsin first pressed with 8:00 to go in the 2nd half and down by 11 after not making any dent into PU lead for quite some time. They did not press "early in 2nd half". I don't know where you got that.

You didn't like a poster from another school to dare question your statement of what was going to happen in the game. For some reason you decided to make a smart ass remark to them "love when people spout off" and "guess I was right about the press".

If all you want is people from PU on here agreeing with everything you say then you probably should start your own board. Or you can put them on ignore and have conversations with yourself. Either way, I'm done with this and I guess you are also since you won't be able to see my reply now that I'm on ignore!

Some people might view a team going to a full-court press or a trapping defense with 8 minutes and something seconds left on the game clock as going to that early in the game (if said team doesn't normally employ it) and some might view that as later in the game (if being more literal). It's subjective.

No need to intercede. Just another couple internet combatants with nothing better to do on Monday.

You cannot use logic to discuss an issue on which your opponent has reached an emotionally-based conclusion.

Agreed, but the theory of using logic to combat emotion/immaturity/classlessness remains the same ... don't work.
Agreed.

I'm letting it die. I had before and then he edited his post and told me to...... never mind, it's not worth it.
