Purdue v. Michigan Game Thread

down 6 with 2 minutes left and you have mich stopped...........and then Walton with "the shot".............ballgame

We shot 8....yes 8 free throws the whole game and half of them came in the last few min...smh!
Oh well Michigan shot out of there a$$ we were right in at the end...kinda.

While Purdue did not play well defensive they were not as bad as Michigan was good. Expect regression to the mean. If it doesn't happen there is no beating them today. It would help though if the guys start playing the pick and roll with a consistent and logical strategy. On three occasions we either doubled the ball and left the roll wide open or doubled the roller and left ball wide open. That is not being focused. Let's see if they fix it.
The move to a full switching D did wonders. Unfortunately, the offense never came around all the way. Biggie just didn't have a good day and most of our perimeter players struggled to hit open shots...until Carsen went nuts and damn near brought them back.
Back home to our favorite rival.

Not as close as the final score shows. I was worried all along about this game. Mich let off the gas and we hit a few shots. Game over. That's why most rallys fall short.
When people say this drivel it removes all shred of doubt whether they are a moron!

The score is always what the score says it is.

You're right. What was I thinking. No team gets a huge (20pt +) lead and gets comfortable. No team starts running clock instead of immediately looking for scoring opportunities. No team, on Senior Night empties the bench repeatedly to allow each Senior the change to leave the court for applause. The truth is, Mich let off the gas. The truth is, it seldom actually costs teams games, but gives the opponent hope that seldom comes to fruition....it's happened when teams let off the gas too soon, which Michigan did. The truth is, we were again exposed as a slow, big team. We just can't seem to defend a quick back court. And when that team also gets red hot from the outside, we're toast.

Ok Stupid.

Hated dropping this game, but UM hit shots from all over the court, including several that were pressured prayers, while we missed so so many from short range and everywhere else. Our D was off & we adjusted late, but IMO it was nearly impossible to get past the shooting differential, though Carson's surge at the end did give us hope.

I'd rather have a game like this now than in a couple weeks. I think the team learned a thing or two. We have a chance to bounce back stronger than before. Boiler Up!
