Purdue has the 5th best receiving corps in the nation according to Steele...

We rank behind:

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. USC
4. Oklahoma

That's pretty good company for a team that's 1 year removed from the dark ages.
Just think where we will be next year with Sullivan, M Moore and hopefully Carr.

Curious which players they took into account for this. Obviously our ranking is driven by Rondale big time. Then, my guess is they mostly considered the other returning guys -Sparks, Anthrop, and Hopkins. Now imagine if we get some good production from a couple of the highly touted freshmen as anticipated.

They actually mentioned Moore first and then the only other guy they mentioned was David Bell.

There is no way we rank #5 in the country unless the freshmen are included.

Moore/Sparks/Anthrop do not make up a top 5 unit alone.

I have no clue who the WRs are going to be behind Moore. Last year’s class of WRs was very good and several of them will be fighting for playing time. Wright and Bell are expected to take over, but overall there is a ridiculous amount of young talent. I love Purdue’s receiving core, and it is deep. By far the deepest position on the team. It also doesn’t hurt when you have arguably the best returning WR in college football and a fifth year former starting QB coming back in Brohm very receiver friendly system. The receiving numbers will depend on Purdue’s defense as well. Purdue threw it a lot last year because they had too. I wouldn’t mind somebody like King coming in and being an all Big freshman that can carry the team, but I am just not sure about the OL just yet. And if you can’t run the ball, then you better be willing and able to air it out.

Purdue has a lot to prove and that offense will need to be significantly better than it was last year to meet the expectations a lot of us have.

One of the real benefits of being so deep with high quality WR is that we can rotate and wear out the opposing defense. If the OL can be stout we could be awesome.Norm
