Zone was very popular for many years due to a concern in a lot of screening around the lane. However, you can always just flood the lane with more players in an area that there are defenders and so the zone will shrink to the lane to stop that and give up an easy shot outside the lane if stopped. Man D (and I'm talking under the goal) key is the D on the triggerman. His job is to not let any pass be made under the basket opposite the ball. Both can fail to execute
