Predict the Next Commit..Part Deux

I will appeal the ruling on Wilson. Yes he played for us, but he left the program and gave his scholarship back to Purdue. If Purdue received a commitment from Harris or Sharpe last week, Wilson could be on the outside looking in today. I believe Wilson should be considered as JuCo recruit. He is currently like Palamores and is competing with the other new recruits for a scholarship.
He is not at all like Harris or Sharpe, because unlike Harris and Sharpe, Big Eddy Wilson is enrolled at Purdue and has been for 1.5 years. No comparison really. I rest my case.

Wilson left. He found no better offers, and asked to return. To me, Brohm had a choice, to allow Wilson to return. Or to use his scholarship on other players. I have to believe the only reason Brohm offered Nixon a scholarship was because Wilson left. Brohm could have replaced Wilson with Nixon. But he decided to take Wilson back, and Nixon now rescheduled his visit, and is no longer a priority. If Brohm had received a commitment from Harris last week, I doubt he would have brought Wilson back.

Therefore, despite the fact he played for us for 2 years, Wilson essentially became a free agent and should be considered as a recruit much like a JuCo or grad transfer. If this was Bryson Scott wanting to come back as a grad transfer, he'd be considered among recruits and commitments.

I still can't believe it's 7:30 pm on Sunday night and we have zero commitments. Many other schools made announcements yesterday.

Wilson and Harris play different positions.

there was a lot of talk before Brohm arrived that to replace Repogle and Panfil, several of our existing defensive lineman may have to shift positions. That could be a reason or factor in Wilson deciding to leave. So it doesn't really matter what position Wilson played. yes it would be ideal for players to continue playing their same positions, but that is never guaranteed.

Wilson is a DT/NT. Not sure what else you're thinking he's going to play. Harris is a DE that could grow into a DT. I could see Wilson being invited to join the team being a reason to not bring in McDougle.

Just pay the extra cash to get the info. It less than $10/mo.

looks like beach is a good choice. he was just offered last week. he thought about Purdue last April. he visited this weekend, and he just decommitted from UCF tonight.

My point is that Harris is an athlete who could become a DT. And if Brohm had some other DE's in mind, he could look to fill that DT spot with Harris and he wouldn't need Wilson. The fact Wilson came back allows Brohm to focus on finding DEs. So Brohm had a choice. he made the easy one - he brought back Wilson because DEs are easier to find. And by bringing back Wilson, he will probably pass on Nixon, and may pass on McDougal. Without Wilson, he may have signed two more players.

My entire point is that without Wilson, Brohm would have signed 2 additional defensive linemen and then shifted players around. So what I'm saying is Brohm went the easy route and made Wilson one of those 2 players. I'm also saying Wilson was the best addition to the team this week. he's going to have to learn an entirely new defense.. So to me, Wilson should be thought of as a new commitment. Obviously he wasn't committed last week. and this week he is. Thus, he's a new commitment.
I don't think Brohm is going to pass on Nixon, McDougal or any DLineman just because Wilson is back on the the roster.

1) being on the roster is not a guarantee of playing time. He may be in the dog house, or may decide it's not worth it after all. You don't know the back story on Wilson so you can't surmise if his return is permanent or not.

2) With or without Wilson , there aren't enough bodies at DT, especially considering Wilson only has 2 more years remaining.

my thoughts were that looking at the amount of scholarships we have left to offer, without Wilson, I expected Brohm to give out 2 more scholarships to defensive linemen. . With Wilson, I expect him to give out only one. Harris, Nixon and McDougal may or may not play the same position. But I only expect one of the three to sign with Purdue.

I still believe Brohm will sign 1-2 OL, 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 RB, 1 WR and DB Williams. Beach may be that OL.

With the decomittment from Viktor Beach, I would say he is likely the next commit. Especially with them pushing back Palomares' visits, I think Palo is out and Beach is in. Personally, I like that pick up more. Beach has good size and he was close with Harris, who is the edge rusher we don't have just yet. I am going to say Beach is next and it would be a very nice pickup.

I would tend to agree after reading his other tweets - especially the ones made about the home visit Ruhl made. the only real hope Purdue has is if LSU doesn't make an offer. it seems very odd they have recruited hard, but have still not made him an offer. it's obvious that's where he really wants to go. based on his recent tweets, it appears he also likes Baylor a lot more than Purdue. and he visits there next weekend.

sometimes I find it hard to believe recruiting web sites. When I look at Beach's profile, on one site, it says he has received an offer from LSU. I looked at a WKU commit who listed Alabama as an offer. And then I see Harris who went on an official visit to LSU and see coaches names as his recruiter, and I see his tweets as choosing between LSU and Baylor, and I see no offer made by LSU ? Beach has an offer, but Harris doesn't? Somewhere there is a disconnect. is the player lying in his tweets to make himself look better to his friends? is the site lying, or just not updating accurately? and then I see some players like Beach listed as decomitting on the day of their tweet, while others like West who decommitted long ago remain as part of a recruiting list.

I'm not calling out one particular site. Each of the 4 recruiting sites I visit has mistakes. but it seems to me if you have a national site, you should take some pride in the accuracy and timeliness of its information.

Hey! Second time I guess right! This one was a bit easier though. Once he decomitted after a visit and we were his best offer it just made sense.

Too many kids and too many people can update the profiles, but you are also looking at free content, so you get what you pay for. Like someone else said, pay the $10 a month if the accuracy is important.

I like the addition of Beach. From his highlights, he is a little heavy in his footwork so I'm a little unsure of where exactly he translates because I haven't had a lot of time to watch Brohm's offensive line approach. I think he probably translates as a right tackle best because of his height and size but if he can improve his footwork and agility, he seemed to have an affinity for pulling in his highlight videos. Either way, it's a solid pickup for Brohm to add depth and eventually what appears a high ability multi-year starting OL to the mix.

I see the thread headlines at knucklehead and I also see your gold member status. Convince me it's worth my money and I will. I also visit 24/7 and hammer and rails and Purdue gridiron. I like accurate info. I also speculate a lot. I could tell by the headline and beach's tweet last night he would commit today. So why should I pay? and the inaccuracies are on the other pages, not the forum pages. maybe you or Brian or Bullwhip or Chuck should give people a taste of what to expect. I can tell where Chuck got his prediction info from. I used to pay for info, now I just use multiple sources. The process is longer. I'm not sure I really save anything. if accurate or insightful, it might be worth my money.

is Mixom better than everybody's favorite Palamaoro? I noticed the size is good , but only 2 * rating. and his other offers were meh. he decommitted from FAU .

$10 gets you the info quicker. You can piece it together with the other sites if you take the time, but i dont waste any time on H&R and rarely look at 247 as they dont have a dedicated purdue person

IMO, Brian is the best source for Purdue football recruiting.

I demand a recount. I think I will lead a march and wear a funny hat demanding Williams be considered as a verbal commitment !

Look like Beach is a good pickup. Has some good offers which is encouraging.

Well, alternative facts are all the rage now. I'm going to start telling everyone that Purdue has the best recruiting class in college football.

Panfil could never hold contain on his side and rarely put pressure on the QB. So I don't think replacing him will be hard. Replogle on the other hand could not be contained by anyone or any two.

there was a picture yesterday of our coach taking the boiler plane and saying he's going after some big time recruits. any guess where he went?
