Please just offer him now and get it over with! Sounds like a star in the making. He's starting varsity as a freshmen at Zionsville and that's saying something.

Speaking of PJ. DId anybody else get a little LewJack flashback with his shooting and takedown move against FL?
PJ is a MUCH MUCH better shooter than LewJack. LewJack was a better athlete, better ballhandler, penetrator and probably a better defender but his jumper stunk. PJ's not a bad defender but LJ was tenacious.
At least with PJ, I'm semi-confident in his ability to hit an open 3 and I've been pleasantly surprised at his attacking the basket on offense. That's LewJack-like.
I do think PJ is a hardnosed bulldog and loves to mix it up. He might be the new "player most hated by other teams fans".
Agree that PJ is hardnosed, though I think that's an attribute he's added since arriving at Purdue rather than something that comes naturally to him. I could be wrong though. As for "player most hated by other teams' fans" - I'm sure we all think of Kramer when we read that - I'm not sure if that's PJ. I can see him being that pesky defender, diving for loose balls (the Purdue way!), but he doesn't exude that Kramer "swagger" that Purdue fans loved/other fans hated. Just my two cents.
Especially because losing to short guys is more frustrating. Like Hulls for IU a few years ago who never missed from deep. Getting torched by a hobbit was infuriating.
My first thought is Cardinal. He did what Kramer did and could light it up while being 6'8" or 6'9" and hard for other teams to guard. Kramer is my second thought.
They are very different as players, but one attribute that they share is that they both are intense competitors. The play where PJ would not let go of the held ball was exactly like LewJack. Both are very strong and as tough as pit bulls.
When LewJack came back from foot surgery as sophomore, he didn't have his explosiveness, so he concentrated on taking care of the ball and facilitating the offense. He did a great job in that stretch, except that opponents didn't respect his shot and slacked off of him. (This became a much bigger issue after Robbie went down.). PJ is similar to that version of LewJack, except that when Florida tried to slack off of him, he made them pay.
I really think that PJ is going to make Painter look very smart for offering him a scholarship. He's a great fit for this team and he is a winner. He's a glue guy that Purdue needs to complete a very talented roster. (Purdue has several glue guys, but that is another topic.)
Does anyone recall that interview BTN did with LewJack when he discussed his motivation based on what others said about his height? I'll have to paraphrase a bit due to foggy memory, but he effectively said people would often say "check out the midget." So he would be even more motivated to impose his will on them, hoping that when he left the court they would say "Damn that midget is good!"
