OT: I think a lot of people are on board with this.

If there's two things I know, it's (1) people love a good 40-year reference to mass killing and (2) a joke is always funnier when you have to explain it in the press conference. TIC

Man, he botched that attempt at humor.

I don't like the guy at all. but I knew where it was coming from since I'm old enough to remember John McKay who was funny and good.

I like poking fun of Notre dame as much as anyone, but I think we need to give Kelly the benefit of the doubt. If he was one to abuse his players in any way, we’d know about it. I mean, they do videotape every practice - no matter what.

Yeah he was responsible for the death of Declan Sullivan for taping the practice during the high winds.

Bingo.
If anyone knows about executing young people, it’s this jackass in South Bend…

Yeah, that’s not what happened. You should go read the multiple independent reports conducted by the Sullivan’s lawyers, the feds (OSHA), the State Police, who all matched ND’s internal investigation.
Do you think the Sullivan’s would say on record for the court that they agree it was just a tragic accident if they felt Kelly was responsible for their son’s death?
It’s actually not flattering for him, so nobody discusses it and agrees to move on. Kind of like if a soldier makes a mistake and dies, you call him a hero & move on. He was told by two different people of authority not to go up. He then asked a third person, who had no authority, who told him to do whatever he wanted. So he went up (against permission by two people who decide), and even made jokes about it over text messaging with friends. And when a friend told him to come down he responded he was fine.

Instead of talking about a tragic event & just throwing out stuff because you don’t like the team, step back and learn what actually happened. It’s not message board jabber.

It was certainly made in jest, but people should choose their words more carefully, especially in the current world. And yeah, NDA, most of us don't like ND here. People either love them or hate them. What do you expect from this board? If you can't handle anti-ND chatter, you probably shouldn't come here.

Oops - guess I touched a nerve there, sparky!

congrats on all the fabulous lawyering up… keep believing in the fairy tales spun at the time that there’s nothing to see here; nobody’s at fault- let’s just forget this insignificant distraction and move on to focus on what’s REALLY important—- winning football games🤣

I don’t give a rip about some report you stated. Kelly is responsible for what goes on with the team during games and practices. Kelly personally should have made sure that kid got down unhurt during that windy day. Kevin White moved on because of the heat he took over this. However the most important thing is for ND to win games at all costs.

Well said—
Unfortunately, this sorry episode is merely the most recent in a steady stream of sliminess and self-righteous rationalization spewed from touchdown jeeebus:
Lizzie Seeberg, Mantei Teo, Kim Dunbar — the hits keep coming ….
We’re reminded of all this garbage once again, thanks to Kelly crapping all over his team’s impressive performance last night with his stupid attempt to “be funny”
It’s miraculous that more elite recruits don’t see Kelly for the whiny, cowardly pr!ck that he is — but such is the allure of the domers.

Just wish he would have told the twitter world where stick it!!Good God...anything will be takin out on context in the twitter world!

Most people hating Brian Kelly has a little to do with him being ND’s coach , but more to do with him being a piece of sh@@ person. I know some guys that played for him at Cincy and they hated him. Guy was about as personable as a wall and he didn’t care an ounce about any of them. It was and always has been about Brian Kelly. He’s an arrogant dickhead. Most would still hate him if he coached at Vanderbilt.
