One of the things that make this country great is the fact that people have to right to protest without fear of persecution. They had every right to question the election and Pence would have never overturned it. It's the dems that are trying to bypass the constitution by packing the Supreme Court, adding DC as a state and trying to end the filibuster.

But, for the sake of argument what you say is true, don't you think those people, whoever they are, should be tried and convicted of st least destroying property, battering police, threatening US govt officials including the VP etc.

I'm not a constitutional expert but I believe DC and my wording on this may be rough but was created to be the seat of the government and that's the way it should say. While I condemn what happened on the 6th I don't think anyone thought they were going to overturn the election. We can all name idiot senators that have abused the filibuster it happens on both sides of the aisle and should never be done away with. As far as the Supreme Court goes this is the most I've ever heard it discussed to pack.
An insurrection is defined as a violent uprising against gov't. 1 cop dead, dozens injured, extensive property damage. It would seem to fit the definition.

Perhaps they are going after charges that will stick. That said, that most definitely was an insurrection. I am sure you have seen the video. What is it about the video that indicates to you this was not an insurrection?
It’s been a year…if it was an insurrection, there would have been insurrection related charges immediately. That most definitely was not an insurrection and the DOJ supports mine and other sober minded folks claims that it wasn’t. Let’s see…zero weapons is a good place to start.
I didn’t see people carrying weapons in to secure the property. They all left without a whimper like a tour group. And yes it was wrong to do and arrests should have been and were made. Insurrection can’t see it no matter how hard the media tells me it was.
