I have to think that this NIL stuff is very frustrating to coaches who want to be coaches and not used car salesmen. I think we're going to see the coaches who are basketball purists start to leave the profession and/or college game. Maybe I'm off base, but I am guessing that coaches who would win based on their coaching ability, clean recruiting practices, respect, honesty, etc., are going to lose out because this isn't what they signed up for. I know that you have to adjust to the rules that are in play, but I feel like there will be coaches who won't want to be a part of it anymore because they don't want to change who they are.
I don't know that Jay Wright left BECAUSE of that, but I'd be willing to bet it made it easier. We all know that Coach Painter isn't a fan and I wonder what effect it will have on his longevity.
