Quick question. Next we play the BTT at MSG, correct? But we go the week before the Big East? So we have a nearly week break before the tourney? I'm not sure I'm onboard with that. I guess you're rested.

Yeah, the commish and powers that be will likely continue to do things that seem counter-productive (i.e. not playing for a week and a half before 1st NCAA Tourney games) and alienate many B1G hoops fans all for the sake of trying to cast a wider net to generate more revenue (or so, they'll say).
it is bizarre to voluntarily end conference play a week early. Now there are small conferences that have season tourneys that end fairly early and there would potentially be room for a Big Ten team to try to schedule an OOC game the last weekend against one of those smaller schools, but I can't see any reason to do so since it couldn't possibly help your seeding in any meaningful way combined with the potential downside of an embarrassing late season loss and injury risk right before the tourney.
So as it stands, Big Ten schools will probably have a 10-13 day layoff before the NCAA tourney next season. Great for resting up and getting healthy, but I'm sure teams that are playing well would rather just keep the momentum going instead of sitting at home for nearly 2 weeks.
